Story

Story
Please contact Vickie ( yardleydogs2@aol.com) for more information about this pet. This is Eugene, a mix of Great Pyrenees and American Bulldog who, at 5 years old, is a big boy of about 100 pounds.  A good fella, he can be a handful on a walk if you have little or no experience with a large dog who some is sometimes bent on doing what he wants to do.  My, he can be stubborn!  Whether very young or older, kids will find Eugene a challenge due to the combination of that stubborn streak and his size, so we feel he wouldn’t do well in a home with any children.  For much the same reasons, he should be the only dog in the family.  Eugene is a great dog who, with an experienced owner, will come into his own as the best of dogs. (posted 1/22/22)    **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our wonderful dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our many years in rescue.** Adoption and transport:  $225   May 30, 2023, 9:55 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CHLOE was transferred to GaDaH from a high kill shelter in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.      CHLOE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 17 March 2019 and at the time of transport weighed 82 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. CHLOE is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.       This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food,   treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.     Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! &#226&#128&#139You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx. 8 miles) and approx. 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. Story
This lovely 2 ½ year old Great Pyrenees mix is Baylee.  She’s a large girl of 85 pounds even though she doesn’t look it in her pictures.  Her personality is equally big!  She gets along well with large dogs, ones about her size, and she likes strangers, too. We don’t know how she does with young kids or cats, but she does love car rides, toys, and bones! And she enjoys walking in the woods or pastures after which she’ll come home and lie in the yard to rest up and be around people.  Baylee can be nervous around new things, but she’s also a major explorer.  She investigates everything but she doesn't dig or tear things on the hunt.  She’s a pretty girl who wears a medium length coat of white sprinkled here and there on her face with freckles.  What a delight she is!  (posted 10/29/22, revised 2/7/23) Adoption and transportation fee:  $250.00May 30, 2023, 9:55 pm

Story
This intelligent, gorgeous, and sweet 3-year-old Great Pyrenees mix was surrendered to a shelter when her owners had to move to a place that does not allow large dogs. Belle is a low- to medium-energy Southern gal who is house broken and knows basic commands. Her creamy white coat with hints of gray and brown will require regular brushing. Belle bonds tightly with her people, but is wary of strangers. An experienced and patient dog owner is preferred for this reason. Belle simply loves to be doted upon and would prefer to be the only dog in the home. Her foster describes her personality as loving, affectionate, silly, and sweet! She loves to play with her human, canine, and feline companions alike! Belle walks well on a leash, but also loves car rides! Wouldn't you love to have this gentle giant as your companion? (PH, 4/17) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $375 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  May 30, 2023, 9:55 pm

Story
My gosh!  These brothers sure are handsome!!! Their names are Eugene Boy  and Eastwood and their mix is Great Pyrenees and Hound.  A great combination, they weigh 20 to 25 puppy pounds and will most assuredly grow to between 60 and 70 pounds. Only 4 months old, but already, you can see their whole personality when you look into their eyes.  Their look is a gentle one, and the soft colors of their medium length coat reflect that.  Their personalities are sweet, and they’re great with kids, dogs, and their foster’s cat.  What sweeties they are!!  (posted 5/22/23, TN) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $375 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip .
