Story

Story
Echo is a 1-year-old purebred Great Pyrenees and he is fully grown weighing about 70 lbs. Echo was rescued along with his 5 siblings from Augusta, Georgia. Upon arrival, the entire litter was covered head to toe in mange and fleas. They had zero human contact prior to Home for Good and needed lots of TLC to come out of their shells. Echo unfortunately also had suffered from double entropion (when the eyelashes inadvertently grow into the eyeball) and has since received corrective surgery. Echo recovered beautifully from his surgery and with the proper nutrition and environment has grown his white luxurious coat back. Echo is now ready to find the forever home he so truly deserves. “Hi everyone, my name is Echo and I would like to tell you a few things about me... I have the cutest face ever but I am really shy when meeting new humans. I would love and need a family that will be patient and understanding with me because I am still learning that people aren’t so bad. I would prefer a home that is quiet and calm, loud noises tend to frighten me simply because I have never experienced such things in my entire life. I am most comfortable when I am in the company of other dogs, especially ones that love to play. At this time, my true personality only shines when I am with my foster siblings and for that reason, I *must* go to a forever home with another dog or multiple present. In my foster home, I have come to love chewing on deer antlers and Kongs filled with peanut butter. What a luxury! I also love to watch my canine friends play with toys, though, I have not quite gotten the hang of how to play with them yet. I walk pretty well on a leash for as nervous as I am, but when I get spooked I try to dart and get away, but, after I am reassured everything is okay I’m ready to continue my stride. Oh, one more thing before I go, I also wouldn’t mind living with a kitty friend as well. I am simply looking for an experienced owner who is looking to add a loyal and handsome four-legged friend to their family. Please consider adopting me. I will be eternally grateful! Echo is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Story
On the search for the perfect loyal, loving, adventure partner? Zeke is just your boy! Zeke is a 1 ½-year-old Great Pyrenees/Retriever mix with a beautiful tan coat fully grown weighing 83 pounds. Zeke is a very adventurous, playful guy looking for his forever home! He loves going on runs and playing with all the toys he can find and would love an active family. If he isn't showing off his zoomies, you'll find him sunbathing or snuggling up on the couch. Zeke is working diligently on his leash skills in his foster home and is doing great. He is treat motivated so he will be easy to train. He already knows “sit”. With Zeke not realizing how big he truly is, he would do best with older children or children with previous dog experience. Zeke would thrive in a forever home with a large fenced-in backyard so he could stretch those long athletic legs of his. Zeke does well with other dogs and does fine with cats too. This boy will make the perfect adventure parter. Apply to adopt this handsome boy today! Zeke is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. LADY  was transferred to GaDaH from a high kill shelter in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.      LADY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of  6 April 2021 and at the  time of transport weighed 55 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. LADY is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.       This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food,   treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.     Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! &#226&#128&#139You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3-month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet/greet/adopt Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx. 8 miles) and approx. 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
