Story
Meet Great White, a 2-year-old, 70-lb Great Pyrenees with a big heart, a goofy personality, and the most magnificent feather-duster tail you’ve ever seen. He’s known to his friends as Max, but Great White is his government name. Great White (aka Max) is a lovable, silly boy who truly thrives being near his people. His tail is basically an accessory with its own personality — always wagging, always dramatic, and guaranteed to make you smile. He’s dog-friendly, super smart, and eager to please. He already knows Sit, Paw, and Down, and with his love of routine, he does best when his days have a predictable flow. This handsome fluff is house trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to the right home. He loves playing with toys, and once he’s settled, you’ll find him happily chewing on a good dog chew or treat. Zoomies in the yard? Absolutely — GW lives for them and would happily spend all day outside if he could. Great White also loves car rides and going on adventures with his foster parents. The moment the car door opens, he jumps right in, ready to go and see the world by your GW would do best in a home without cats, but he gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion. Most of all, GW is looking for his forever family — a place where he can be loved, included, and finally settle in for good. If you’re ready for a loyal best friend with a heart of gold and a tail that could double as a luxury broom, Great White (but Max to his people) is ready to meet you! Great White is currently being fostered in Edison, NJ. His adoption fee is $500. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org ** Some dogs bounce into a new place like they’ve lived there forever. Mavis is a little different. Born around February 2024, Mavis spent the beginning of her life living in a very old farmhouse in a remote part of Texas with an elderly woman who loved her. When the county evicted her owner from the property, Mavis suddenly found herself needing a new start. Through it all, she has remained the same gentle, friendly girl with people. She loves attention, enjoys being near her humans, and has a soft, sweet personality that shines once she settles in. With unfamiliar dogs, Mavis can be a little more reserved at first. Because of that, she could do very well as an only dog, soaking up all the love and attention for herself. She would be okay living with another dog in the home provided introductions are slow, thoughtful, and guided by someone experienced. She has recently learned how to walk on a leash and spend time in a crate, and she’s been doing great with both. Like many dogs who are adjusting to big changes, she just needs a little patience and a calm environment to help her feel secure. Mavis is the kind of dog whose bond grows deeper and stronger with time. The kind who starts out a little cautious....and then becomes the loyal, loving companion who thinks the world of her person. She’s a beautiful girl with a very sweet heart, and she deserves a home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and be loved for the rest of her life. If you believe the best friendships are the ones that grow slowly and last forever....Mavis might be your girl. If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org ** Drake — overachiever, heart-stealer, professional good boy. We’re honestly starting to think Drake is showing off. Good with people? Yep. Kids? Of course. Dogs? Easy. Cats? No issue. Chinchillas?? …he said bring them on. At this point we’re afraid to ask what he can’t do. Drake is the ultimate velcro dog — your shadow, your sidekick, your “why are you in the bathroom without me?” kind of loyal. He lives for attention, thrives on pets, and will happily follow you everywhere like it’s his full-time job (because to him, it is). Need a walking buddy? He’s got you. Want a yard zoomies partner? Done. Car ride? Don’t even grab your keys unless you’re taking him too. Quick shopping trip? Perfect — he’ll just be busy collecting compliments the entire time like the little celebrity he is. And yes...the compliments are nonstop. Those eyes? That face?? That teddy bear look??? It’s honestly unfair to other dogs. On top of all that, he walks well on leash and has the kind of easy, go-anywhere personality that makes life feel effortless. Basically, Drake is that dog. The one everyone wants. The one that checks every box. The one you’re going to wish you applied for sooner. So...fair warning — don’t overthink this one. Dogs like Drake don’t stay available for long. If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org ** Meet Lady  Lady is a 7-year-old female Great Pyrenees with the gentlest soul and so much love left to give. After sadly losing her human mom, Lady found herself needing a new beginning when the family was unable to keep her. Her foster family say she is truly something special. Once she knows you, Lady will reward you with the sweetest little kisses and happily soak up all the pets and scritches you can offer. She was recently groomed and the groomer absolutely adored her, saying she was wonderful to work with from start to finish. Lady has settled in beautifully with the foster's dogs and has become especially good friends with GPRS alum Laura. She enjoys a couple of short play sessions each day. She also LOVES walks — though “power walking” is not exactly her style  She’s more of a slow-and-steady strolling companion, perfect for someone who enjoys peaceful walks and taking in the scenery. In the house, Lady is an absolute dream. She’s fully potty trained, non-destructive, respectful of furniture, and perfectly content relaxing nearby. She does bark occasionally, as Great Pyrenees do, but it’s not excessive. She simply likes to let you know when something catches her attention. Lady should be fed separately, which has been easy to manage. She takes treats very gently and shares water bowls without issue. She’s also quite smart and true to her breed — she’ll inspect fencing carefully to see if there’s any weak spots or wiggle room, though she hasn’t attempted jumping or climbing. She could thrive as an only dog or with a canine companion, big or small. She’d likely do best with dog-savvy or older children. Cats are still a question mark — she shows interest in chasing them on walks, so a cat-free home may be safest unless introductions are done very carefully and slowly. Lady is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds. She’s loyal, loving, calm, and quietly devoted. Whoever opens their heart and home to this beautiful girl is going to gain an incredibly special companion.
