Story
Meet Barbara! Barbara is a 1 year old, 70-lb Great Pyrenees who loves being close to her people and pets. Her superpowers include loving all people everywhere, and getting along great with other dogs and cats. She loves walking and walks on a leash like a proper lady. Barbara is fully house trained. She loves to please and she loves to be rewarded for a good job! She loves stuffies of all sizes. Barbara is quite the quiet pup for a Pyrenees, and overall is is super well behaved. She is very "handsy" as with all Pyrenees. If she wants you, or your attention she will grab you with her paws. If you're looking for a super intelligent dog that is very independent Barbara is the gal for you. Barbara is currently being fostered in Edison NJ. Her adoption fee is $475. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org.** Meet Archer, a playful Great Pyrenees whose idea of a bullseye is landing directly in the middle of fun, every single day. Born around June 2024, Archer is handsome, hilarious, and remarkably skilled at launching happiness in all directions at once. He’s a world-class goofball with a sweet, easygoing temperament, who somehow manages to feel like a big puppy and a five-star dog at the exact same time. Archer adores his foster parents and greets them with dramatic play bows worthy of a Shakespearean stage every time they walk into the room. But his absolute best friend is his female foster dog sister—the two spend their days bouncing around the backyard like a pair of joyful, oversized popcorn kernels. Because of this, Archer would prefer that his forever home comes equipped with another playful dog—preferably a lady friend who appreciates his signature brand of fun&#226&#128&#145loving enthusiasm. But beneath all that silliness is a  smart boy who already knows “sit” and is eager to keep adding skills to his quiver. Archer is house trained, crate trained, and cat-friendly, meaning he can share a home with felines without turning it into an action movie. Archer does occasionally forget his size and may hop up to say hello, so a home without small kiddos would be ideal while he continues to polish his manners. He’s also still working on his leash skills—he sometimes pulls a bit, but only because the world is full of mysteries and he is determined to investigate all of them before dinner. But he’s genuinely trying his best to walk like a gentleman and he's improving every day. Archer hasn’t just filled his foster home with love—he’s filled it with laughter, silliness, and the unmistakable feeling that something fun is always about to happen. If you're looking for a stunningly handsome, laugh-out-loud playful best friend who will keep your days brighter and your backyard busier, Archer is ready to take his shot. Ivan has that calm, dignified vibe—right up until you realize he’s also a total lovebug who will lean in for snuggles as if it’s the most important appointment on his schedule. Born around December 2020, Ivan is laid back, wonderfully mannered, and so easy on a leash that walking him feels like strolling with an old friend. Treat time? He sits politely like he’s at a fancy restaurant waiting for the bread basket, and he accepts snacks with the kind of grace that makes you question your own table manners. He’s affectionate in the sweetest way and truly embodies “gentle giant” to a T. While he's a magnet for people of all ages, kiddos included, he’s also a social guy who lights up around other dogs. He will need a dog companion in his forever home, because life is simply better with a trusty sidekick to help patrol the yard and report any suspicious leaf activity. Adopt Ivan and you’ll get a handsome, gentle-hearted companion who will happily supervise your life, approve your snack choices, and be the best decision you've made all year.
