🐾 Meet Big Girl Big Girl is back with Melissa’s Second Chances, and at 6 months old, this Husky girl has grown from a tiny puppy into a 40-pound bundle of sweetness, personality, and ENERGY. 🤍 Big Girl was adopted a few months ago, but as she grew, it became clear that her activity level was more than her adopter could comfortably manage. So she’s looking again for a family whose lifestyle is a better match for the active young dog she’s becoming. And active is definitely the word! Big Girl is sweet, playful, curious, and happiest when she has something to do. Her previous adopter reports that if she hasn’t gotten enough exercise, she may find her own entertainment—and her definition of entertainment may not always match yours. 😅 For Big Girl, regular physical activity, playtime, training, and mental enrichment aren’t just bonuses; they’ll be important parts of helping her thrive. Fortunately, this smart girl already has a good foundation. She is crate trained, has been living indoors, and previously worked on skills including “sit” and “stay.” She was also doing well learning to walk on leash—although she occasionally liked to weave in front of her person just to keep things interesting. Big Girl is good with other dogs and has experience successfully sharing her space with canine friends. She’s also good with kids and has always been a social girl who enjoys being part of whatever her people are doing. Cats remain unknown. Her earlier foster family got to see plenty of Big Girl’s affectionate side, too. Once the activity was over, she was happy to relax near her people, and at night she loved sleeping close to them. She's a girl who wants both: opportunities to get out there and DO things, followed by the chance to settle in with the people she loves. And although she's getting bigger, some of those ridiculous puppy moments haven't gone anywhere. Big Girl has always been curious and observant, with a knack for turning everyday life into an opportunity for fun. What Big Girl needs this time around is a family prepared for the dog in front of them: a young, energetic Husky who needs appropriate outlets for her body and her brain. She isn't a couch potato, and a home looking for a low-energy companion won't be the right fit. But for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and wants a dog to train, play with, walk, explore, and include in everyday adventures, Big Girl has so much potential. She's sweet. She's social. She's smart. She's energetic. And at only 6 months old, she's just getting started. Big Girl's first match turned out not to be the right one. 🐈🐈 Cat-friendly 🐈🐈 “Hey, handsome!” Winston hears that a lot, and it’s not hard to see why. He’s a 5-year-old Siberian Husky (around 46 pounds) with a rare piebald coat – lots of white, with bold patches that make him hard to miss. He has the personality to match. He’s incredibly affectionate, loves giving kisses, and is always up for a “chat” in his cute husky voice. 🗣️ Winston likes to keep tabs on what you’re up to and wants to be part of whatever’s going on (whether you invited him or not). 😄 He was found as a stray and likely didn’t have much structure before, but he’s adjusting well and showing just how sweet and easygoing he can be. He’s about 90% house trained, knows “wait,” and is just starting to learn the basics. Leash walking is new to him, so expect some pulling as he figures it out. He’s also just beginning to show interest in toys, which is pretty fun to watch him realize, “Oh wow, these are actually great.” 🧸 Winston does well with other dogs overall, though he may be selective and can sometimes guard toys or his person. He’s been around cats and may bark, but he’s not aggressive and can be redirected. He’d do best in a home that can offer patience, structure, and plenty of attention. A fenced yard would be ideal, and while he’s not a big fan of crates or getting into the car, he settles once he’s on the move. Right now, Winston is in heartworm treatment, so he’s keeping things pretty low-key for a few more weeks while his body heals. He’s done a great job staying calm, and once he’s cleared, he’ll be ready to ease into a more active routine. Winston is a real stunner – sweet, slightly quirky, and still learning, but already knows how to love. ❤️ Winston’s adoption fee is $175, which includes his neuter, vaccines, microchip and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. Meet Storm! 🐾 Storm is an intelligent, energetic Siberian Husky looking for a special retirement home. Originally rescued, Storm entered our Dogs 4 Valor program and received approximately 1,000 hours of training as a psychiatric service dog. He knows PTSD/anxiety interruption, night-terror response, and some mobility tasks. Following a medical emergency that unexpectedly separated Storm from his handler for several days, he experienced behavioral regression and later had two bite incidents involving resource guarding and face startle. Because of this, Storm is permanently retired from public-access service work and should NOT be used as a service dog in public. Storm could be a wonderful at-home emotional support companion for an experienced, confident adult; male preferred. A structured home without young children and someone comfortable managing his triggers and continuing his training. Storm is loyal, smart, active, and deeply devoted to his person. ❤️
