Story
Here's some notes from his foster: Nevins is extremely quiet (I haven't heard a peep or bark from him. He explored the house a bit, but mostly was happy to be pet and sleep. He does not seem reactive to sounds at all (barking, calling for him), which makes me think he might be hard of hearing. He seems a tiny bit skittish about being picked up-he's not reactive, but he freezes. He does fancy a nice sofa that he can hide out under so if you don't see him that's the first place to look! Nevin has no problem going up and down stairs! He can even jump up on the couch with no problem. He's calm in the and stays in his seat! His favorite part of car rides is looking out the window. Personality: As he approaches a week with us, Nevins is opening up. He's still silent when anyone is around (no barking, no reactions), but he's got some pep in his step. He enjoys walks outside. He's starting to follow me around more. He is entirely unresponsive to being called or hearing any sounds (even sleeping through our dog barking incessantly for 10 minutes). Eating: Nevin's appetite has really picked up since he arrived. He has also becoming less picky, accepting the original food Muttville sent with him now too. I read in his notes that he is underweight, so I've been giving him a bit more and he'll eat it all. Even with his face in his food, he is very gentle and not a guarder. Sleeping: Nevins sleeps all night on top of the human bed. In the morning, I dig him out of bed to take him out, but he easily sleeps 8+ hours. So far we introduced him to small dogs and he does great : We have a 10-year old dachshund who is about 3x as big as Nevins (she's 15 pounds). They sniffed each other. Nevins has been extremely gentle and non-reactive around her. They are happily coexisting. So far so good with kids: We have a 3.5 year old who loves dogs and really wants to pet Nevins. Nevins was totally non-reactive and happy to be pet. He also cuddled up on the 3.5 year old's bed while we read at bedtime. We offered Nevins a bed next to our bed, but he kept silently popping up to let us know he wanted to sleep in the main bed. So he has been sleeping in bed with humans at night. When we have left him home alone he is 100 percent quiet until he hears us coming in the door and lets out a few barks.

Story
Mr. Little Potato Head! What a great name. To our best knowledge, probably a maltese poodle mix, he's approximately 3 years old and weights about 14 pounds. He is great with people and children. He walks well on a leash but does like to bark at other dogs, but will settle when you correct him. He loves to eat and is very food/treat motivated. He must have had a family before as he settled in with his foster very easily. He does well in car rides and loves his daily walks. Are you ready to incorporate him into your family!? SF Bay Area Adoptions only, please email if interested.

Story
Kristmas was fearful and very nervous at the shelter when we rescued her. She is a special behavior needy dog. Kristmas needs time to warm up and feel safe. She can be handled and picked up. She was neglected with matts and had very long toe nails. She was probably too isolated prior and then left in the streets. Kristmas was fine meeting another dog on leash. She was nervous at our vet but they were able to care for her and clip her long nails. She is now in a quiet foster home and relaxing. At first she stayed in her crate inside dog pen and just watched. The next day she felt safer and ate a little. Finally came out and walked out to yard for potty biz. Sniffing and hanging out with the foster home's gentle friendly small dog. Kristmas needs time to decompress and feel safe. Will need an experienced guardian and quiet home situation with attached back yard. More info. to come. She will only eat home made cooked food. Foster home makes chicken or turkey with rice and veggies. She won't eat store bought kibble nor can. Update on day 2: At foster home she is very slowly warming up. She follows their 2 dogs around and out to yard. She needs a very experienced home with another dog to feel safe. Best no kids or older kids 10 yrs and up. She will flinch at fast movement and is head shy. She needs more time in her foster home to learn and be less fearful. She slowly will jump on the sofa and go to foster mom to sniff hands. Kristmas is eating very little now and likes Weruva canned food. She is still too nervous to eat a full meal. So maybe in another 2 weeks she will be normal but shy behavior. She was probably too isolated since a puppy so new people and places make her very nervous. Need to move slow and let her set her pace to trust and feel safe. She will not walk on leash but can be guided on leash at home with another dog around. Will take time for her adjust. She is not a dog for social outings or parks. March 2024: She is now walking on leash with a harness. Follows people and foster home's dog on walks. She was a very picky eater but foster home makes home-made meals of meat/veggies/rice for her and their dog. She now loves her food! June 2024: She's continued to improve. She is very loving dog now. Loves to go for walks and loves to run in the park. She gets along with her older brother Tony (terrier mix). Krissy is very gentle easy going loves dogs at the park. She is still a little shy with humans but allows strangers to pet her now. She needs a gentle loving family. She is still young so she loves to run in nature. Overall very loving and easy going dog. Doesn’t like fast movements or loud voices or shouting. She was good at groomer too.June 22, 2024, 12:20 am

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $600 Remy is a 5 year old Maltese x Yorkie mix who can’t wait to try the flavors of the world with his forever family! This handsome dude was rescued from the shelter after his former home was moving and decided not to take him along for the journey. Well, we picked him up and away we went. Remy weighs 15 pounds and has so much personality contained in such a tiny little body! He has a lower shedding coat that will potentially require grooming or a dedicated family brusher.     Remy is a happy and handsome gentleman who is a world-class cuddler. He loves being with his people and finds his throne in your lap. He loves to hang out on the couch as you get your work done, but is always eager for his walks or playtime with his toys. Remy has never met a stranger he didn’t quickly befriend. He loves attention and will blink his big, precious eyes at you when he wants more pets. He loves to give kisses and will shower you in love from the minute you meet him! This dog is young at heart and loves his toys. However, he is great at matching the energy of any situation, so if you’d rather have a day on the couch, he’s ready for that too! We can tell that Remy bonds quickly and will faithfully adore you for the long run. As long as you’re next to Remy, he’s interested in any adventure.  Remy wakes up at 7 AM and lounges in his bed as his foster family gets their days started. He gets breakfast at 8 AM and then heads out on a short potty walk. During the morning, Remy snoozes and suns himself on the deck. He gets a few short potty breaks during the day in between Zoom calls, which he loves to participate in. In the afternoon, he gets some playtime before he heads out on a longer walk as the weather cools off. After everyone finishes their days, Remy gets his dinner at 7 PM before he spends an hour or so zooming around with his toys. After a last potty break, he curls up on the couch for TV time before heading to his crate for the night to sleep.  Remy lives with a canine foster sibling currently and gets along well with him. He would love a playmate in his new home but would also be just fine as a solo dog. Remy walks very well on the leash and greets his doggy neighbors politely. Remy will thrive in just about any kind of home as he is super adaptable. He would love to be your dream WFH buddy. Remy is ready for his forever people and hopes it will be you!    Remy is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. He would be an incredible option for homes without prior dog-owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6.June 22, 2024, 1:43 pm

Grover was surrendered to our rescue when his former home was no longer able to care for him. They wanted what was best for him so they asked us to find him a forever home where he would be adored, and we promised them we would. Grover is an adorable and loving gentleman who can’t wait to find his picture perfect new family. Grover weighs 15 pounds. He is a lighter shedding dog but won’t be an option for those with true allergies.    Grover is a fabulous gentleman who wants to love you and have you love him. He is a very calm and reserved dude who loves a chill cuddle marathon on the couch. He makes himself part of the household instantly and will make you believe he has always been there. Grover is happy to go on walks and join you on errands when you’re up for it, but he’s also thrilled to spend a day curled up on the couch for a movie marathon. He’s easy like that! We know that Grover will make his lucky new home so happy, as he has so much love to share with the world. While he hasn’t quite figured out the whole toy thing yet, he’s very curious and smart. He’s always aware of what’s happening in the house, even if he can’t be bothered to get up and investigate. Same dude. Same. Grover promises that a life with him in it will be one of endless cuddles and snoozes.  Grover starts his morning between 7 and 9 AM with a trip outside for potty. He is happy to sleep in for as long as you want! After he comes back inside, he eats his breakfast and then spreads out on his bed for a long nap. He spends his days lounging happily with trips outside for potty breaks and romps as needed. In the evening, Grover gets a long walk around the neighborhood where he greets all his doggie friends. He has dinner at 6 PM and then spends some time lounging on the couch with his foster family as they unwind from the workday. After one last potty trip at 10 PM, Grover goes into his crate for dreams of cookies and cuddles to come!  Grover lives with two canine foster siblings and they get along well. They spend their days laying on the couch and hanging out. Grover does well on a leash and enjoys his walks. He adores his people and would love a home where he can receive all the love and affection he deserves. He is such a special and amazing guy. What are you waiting for!!   Grover is an option for just about any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.June 22, 2024, 1:43 pm
