She came to DPS under difficult circumstances, having been living in a vehicle with several other dogs. While in our care, it became clear that Peppa was pregnant, and she was sent to a loving foster home where she safely delivered and raised her puppies. Now that her babies are grown, it’s finally Peppa’s turn to be the center of attention and find a home where she can be doted on, spoiled, and appreciated for the sweet, easygoing companion she is. Daily Routine Peppa has a relaxed, flexible routine. She usually stirs a bit when her humans wake up, heads outside for a potty break, and then happily lies back down while everyone gets ready for the day. Breakfast is offered at this time, though Peppa prefers to graze rather than eat all at once. One of her favorite activities is tagging along for school drop-off rides, where she calmly lies in the seat next to her person, content just to be included. Before having puppies, Peppa enjoyed going for a walk and then napping most of the day while her foster worked. She’s perfectly comfortable staying home alone, but when someone is working from home, she’s also happy to lie quietly nearby. In the evenings, she enjoys another walk and prefers to eat dinner a bit later, usually around 7:30 p.m. Since having her puppies, she alternates between sleeping on a dog bed near their crate or in the bedroom at night. While she previously shared a covered crate with another dog, she is not a fan of being crated now and clearly prefers more freedom. Peppa is wonderfully adaptable about where she rests— bare floor, carpet, thin dog bed, fancy dog bed— it’s all acceptable to her. Comfort, to Peppa, is more about feeling safe than about luxury. Personality Peppa is a mellow, gentle dog with a warm and friendly disposition. When she first arrived, she was very sleepy, which made sense once it was discovered she was pregnant. She is not a velcro dog, but she also isn’t aloof. She enjoys being near her people without needing constant attention. She’s not a big cuddler in the traditional sense, but she does love being held tucked under your arm or cradled on her back in your arms. She absolutely loves walks and belly rubs— those are the fastest way to her heart. If you give her a little attention and a belly rub, she’s instantly your friend, which made her very comfortable with visitors coming to see her puppies. When you come home, Peppa lights up with happiness, greeting you with zoomies, flopping onto her back for belly rubs, and performing an adorable little dance with her front paws— especially if you tap the floor in front of her to encourage her. She is generally calm, gentle, and well-mannered. She doesn’t play with toys and can be a bit picky about treats, but she makes up for it with her affectionate greetings and sweet presence. Energy Level & Play Style Peppa is more of a lounger than a playful dog. She tolerated play attempts from other adult dogs but didn’t seek them out. Interestingly, she has enjoyed interacting with her puppies and engaging with them gently. Overall, she’s a laid-back companion who enjoys walks and then happily relaxes for the rest of the day. Walks & Leash Skills Peppa walks nicely on leash and clearly enjoys getting out and about. She’s interested in squirrels and will bark at them, but not to the point of trying to chase them down. Regular walks seem to help her overall routine and potty habits, and she would likely thrive with a few walks each day. Social Life Peppa has lived with many other foster dogs and did well with them. She has not met cats. She has interacted with children ranging from ages 3 to 16 and has been wonderful with all of them— calm, gentle, and polite. Even young children who are typically nervous around dogs feel comfortable with Peppa because of her easygoing nature. Training & Habits Peppa is generally housetrained but does have occasional accidents indoors. She uses potty pads for the most part, especially when left alone for longer periods. With regular walks and a consistent routine, her potty habits tend to improve. She does not chew, dig, or get into trouble. She will bark at doorbells, people outside, and squirrels, but the barking is brief and easily redirected. She does not bark when held or while riding in the car. Why Peppa Peppa Pig is a happy-go-lucky little dog who is soft in every sense of the word— soft fur, soft personality, soft presence in your home. She asks for very little and gives so much in return: joyful greetings, gentle affection, calm companionship, and a heart that’s clearly ready to be someone’s cherished pet. After everything she’s done raising her puppies, Peppa is more than ready for a life where she gets to be spoiled, loved, and celebrated just for being her.December 16, 2025, 6:23 pm
