Story
✨ PLEASE MEET MOONCALF — OUR NEWEST FANTASTIC BEAST ✨ Mooncalf is approximately 12 years old, and this tiny senior girl has already endured far more than she ever should have. When she came into Umbrella of Hope Rescue, her diabetes was completely uncontrolled. Her blood glucose was so high that it was literally beyond the range the equipment could measure. She will need insulin injections under the skin twice daily for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, diabetes is only part of her medical story. Mooncalf also has KCS (dry eye) affecting both eyes. This is a painful condition that requires specialized prescription eye medication twice daily to keep her comfortable and help protect her vision. Her skin is also in terrible condition, as you can see in her photos, and we are working to determine the underlying causes and get her comfortable again. She also has a mammary mass along with several other age-related medical concerns that still need evaluation and treatment. And yet, somehow, Mooncalf remains incredibly sweet. She is gentle. She is trusting. She still wants affection. She has every reason in the world to be angry at what life has handed her, and instead she simply seems grateful that someone is finally taking care of her. We are committed to giving Mooncalf the medical care she needs and the comfortable senior life she deserves. But chronic illness is expensive. Insulin. Syringes. Prescription eye medications. Blood glucose monitoring. Diagnostics. Veterinary visits. Skin treatment. Evaluation of her mammary mass. And whatever else we uncover as we continue working through years of neglected medical needs. This is exactly why rescue takes a village. If you can help Mooncalf, even a small donation makes a difference. WAYS TO DONATE: Check or money order:Umbrella of Hope4040 Railroad AvePittsburg, CA 94565 Venmo:@Umbrellaof-HopeResuce PayPal:beourpet@gmail.com Zelle:beourpet@gmail.com Mooncalf did not get to choose the body she grew old in or the medical problems she developed. But we can choose what happens next. We can make sure her golden years are filled with comfort, proper medical care, good food, soft beds, and people who believe an elderly diabetic dog is still absolutely worth saving. Please help us give Mooncalf the life she deserves. ❤️ Thank you for being part of her journey.   GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Most likely Good with cats?:  Unknown but we think so Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Story
âœ¨ Meet Boq  — 6 lbs of tiny, determined heart ✨ Available for Adoption through Umbrella of Hope Boq Wicked is a 9-year-old, 6-pound Maltese mix with a soft black and white coat, a gentle spirit, and a lifetime of stories behind his cloudy eyes. He may be small, but this little gentleman has preferences, routines, and a quirky charm that make him unforgettable to those lucky enough to earn his trust. His Personality Boq is happiest when the world is quiet, steady, and predictable. His absolute favorite part of the day? His walks. He walks beautifully on leash and will trot right alongside you like the world’s tiniest hiking buddy. He gets along well with other dogs, he’s sweet, affectionate in his own gentle way, and very food-motivated. (Blueberries, watermelon, and chicken? Yes, please.) Because Boq is deaf and has limited vision, he can be reactive if startled. He’s not recommended for a home with small children. His perfect match is someone experienced with shy or special-needs pups — someone who recognizes that progress may be slow… but absolutely worth it. Daily Life with Boq • Likes to explore, sniff, and take in the world on his walks • Occasionally plays with small toys (when the mood strikes) If you’re patient, compassionate, and looking for a small senior buddy who just needs someone to believe in him, Boq Wicked might be your perfect match. NAME: MALBU GENDER: MALE BREED: MALTESE COLOR: WHITE AGE: 3 YEARS OLD WEIGHT: 12lbs SPAY OR NEUTER: Yes MICROCHIP: Yes If you would like to give MALBU by a forever home, please go to www.adoptadoggie.org to fill out an online application. Please email your home photos to contact@adoptadoggie.org Malbu is a playful and happy boy. He loves everyone he meets and does well with other dogs. Malbu has a rough start in life. However, it doesn’t stop him from loving and trusting humans. He is doing well in his foster home and ready for a forever home. Malbu started some leash training and is learning at a good pace. He is crate-trained and doing well on his house training. Malbu loves his trips to the doggie park and enjoys his daily walks. Malbu is a loving boy and will be a good family dog. Malbu’s Rescue Story Malbu was caught by a volunteer of a TNR (Trap / Neuter / Return) rescue group. TNR rescue groups specialize in getting stray animals spayed and neutered and the animals are returned to their original location to live as homeless dogs and cats. TNR programs help with the overpopulation of unwanted animals. The volunteer caring for him loves him and didn’t want to see him back on the streets. The volunteer reached out to an experienced international rescue organization to save him and some other puppies that are still too young to be released back to the streets. The founder of the rescue organization has over 160 dogs waiting for homes. She really does not have space for another dog. However, she could not bear to see them suffering on the streets. She agreed to take them home and give them a chance in life. Malbu along with his 40 other buddies were all rescued and live together waiting for their own forever homes. Malbu had a thorough medical checkup. He had been neutered, vaccinated, microchip, and passed negative on his blood tests. Please give Malbu a loving home where he will never be left behind again. Story
Maltese Mix Age: Senior Female, Spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Kylie (a.k.a. Bitsy) was brought to the San Jose Shelter as a stray and in pretty poor condition. She was underweight, no use of her her back legs, missing fur, urine burns from incontinence. In spite of it all, she had a wonderful disposition. The shelter contacted us to pull her. She uses a cart and wears diapers for her incontinence. Here is what her current foster mom has to say about her: Bitsy (Kylie) is a loving, bossy, and lively dog. She loves going for walks or sniffing around the park. Bitsy will ask you to play by grabbing her stuffy and bringing it to you. She also enjoys enrichment activities like puzzles and snoops. She has gotten along with having a second foster dog in the house as well as strangers. She is a polite greeter on walks. Bitsy needs her bladder expressed 3-4 times a day. She sits perfectly still as you do so. At home Bitsy navigates the house just fine. She will try to rush out the door to go with you on errands and does happy hops when you come home. For more information about Kylie, you can email us at: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
