Story
Miao is a very sweet girl, she looks to be a maltese/bichon mix but this is only a best guess. She doesn't shed much. She's a bit shy to start but she warms up fairly quickly. She love her daily outside walks. Kids loves her as she's so sweet, she does fine with other dogs. SF Bay Area adoption only.

Story
We recently rehomed our dog Donatello to a family in Yuba City but they are having issues with him. He is up to date on his vaccinations and is neutered. He is well trained and knows several basic commands like down, stay and sit. He is also crate trained and potty trained. The reason we have to rehome him is because he is not a good fit for us. To be fully transparent, Donatello would not be a good fit to go to a home with other dogs, kids or elderly people because of his resource guarding/reactiveness. He does not do well with larger dogs and children. We have done behavioral training with a professional dog trainer and he has made great strides since then. He has a lot of energy and needs to go to a house that has a large yard and we can not provide that to him. To be fully transparent, he CAN NOT go to a place with children. Meet ups in the Yuba City area is preferred.

Story
15 yr old, 10 lb Maltese Mix NEUTERED MALE for ADOPTION Meet Opossum Rabbit!     Opossum is a 15 year 10 lb old Maltese mix that came to us from San Jose Animal Care Center     He has lived quite a life making it to 15 and is looking for somewhere to lay his head for his final retirement. All he wants is to lay next to his person, relax and enjoy each other’s company.         UPDATE 9/17/23: After six months in our program and a signficant and unexpected improvement in his condition after all the love and care he has received, he is no longer considered a hospice adoption.     He takes thyroid meds and an OTC supplement but will be getting neutered, a dental and his cherry eye (cosmetic) repaired soon     This is what his foster mom says about him.   “Similar to the name he was given “Opossum”, he is very slow and freezes up when something startles him. Which is just about everything. This could be due to his impaired vision or hearing. He will seek out your attention and look for you if you aren’t in his immediate sight. His ideal family would be one that prefers to hold him on your lap or allow him to lay next to you while you binge watch your favorite show.   For the most part Opposum is very quiet unless he is in the kennel. He HATES being confined in a kennel. He does ride well in the car strapped in a harness.   Opossum has had a few accidents in his foster home. But he is learning to go out the back door when he needs to do his business. He enjoys roaming in the backyard shaking all the smells. He will also use a potty pad if they are available. He’s ok on the leash but walks very very slow. He would LOVE a dog stroller to keep up with everyone else to enjoy the outdoors. Most of the time he spends his days sleeping in various beds. He’s not picky as long as there is an empty one close by.     Toys or treats don’t impress him but snuggles do.”     If you have the love to give this boy for the time he has left, send us an email at beourpet@gmail.com.   If you are unable to adopt but would like to help find Opossum a retirement buddy of his own, please ***SHARE THIS POST***  GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Eh, marginal but does well with potty pad Crate Trained?: NO HATES IT Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Probably Good with cats?: Yes, we think so Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.  Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.   We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.  We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  September 26, 2023, 11:30 pm

Story
Adorable, young Benji just came into our foster program. He's a Maltese mix, the cutest little character - he even walks on his hind legs! He's doing very well in his foster home with house training and crate training. He gets along with other nicely behaved small dogs and enjoys his outings on leash. Benji was just neutered and microchipped and he'll be groomed once his surgery site has healed. An adopter should plan on regular grooming for this sweet boy. If you are interested in Benji an application is required. Just click the Apply For Adoption box located below Benji's photos on the right side. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $1000   Donatello is a 4 month old Maltipoo mix who was surrendered to our rescue with his brother, Michaelangelo. Even though they look like cotton balls, we promise that adorable puppies are under all that soft and gorgeous hair. The pair are hypoallergenic with non-shedding coats which makes them an option for those with allergies or who just want less hair in the house.   Below is a note from their foster.    “Donatello is such a smart little guy. While his brother is more go go go, he sits back and thinks before jumping into action. He is a huge cuddler and loves to curl up in our laps when he wants attention. He loves meeting new people, loves meeting dogs, and has been a total sweetie. He is what you think of when you think of a perfect puppy.    The boys wake up at 7 AM and head right outside to go potty. They come inside for breakfast and then spend some time chasing each other around the backyard and playing with their toys. They take a nap and then romp around the backyard exploring. The world is big for these little guys! They have lunch and then spend time playing inside during the heat of the afternoon, amusing us with their antics. They have dinner at 6:30 PM and then we spend more time with them, playing and cuddling until bedtime which is at 10:30   We have had a fantastic time with these boys. They show us more of their goofy personality every day, but our favorite quirk of theirs is sleeping on their backs with their legs sticking up like a dead bug after they have had a long day of play.” Donatello is only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years. Homes should be prepared to discuss their plans for grooming. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8. September 27, 2023, 2:42 pm
