Mr. Howell is a really sweet, soft, perfect-sized dog (20 lbs), with grey-brown coloring and an adorable heart shaped patch of white fur on his chest. He’s youthful and playful, but has a chill, low-maintenance personality. He loves toys and is happy to play with his person or entertain himself. He has done very well with female fosters -- coming out of his shell, playing and showing affection. However, men in the household (and our male staff members) still frighten him weeks or even months later. This special boy needs an all female household, preferably with another dog. He needs plenty of time to adjust and lots of help to build his confidence. He will reward your patience with endless love.

We became immediately endeared by this chill guy. He’s a stick-with-you kind of pal, who will easily pop up for a spontaneous potty walk, or dive into a long relaxing lay down in the bed. His eyes are soulful, and he looks like he’s always thinking hard, daring us humans to wonder. He has a refined palate that will require some investigation, but loves beef jerky dog treats, as well as minnows (he smacked his down, and then swiped the cat’s). In our house, Lou B has been taking the stairs like a champ, and keeps a polite distance from the cat. He’s comfortable, will make himself right at home, and is warm and friendly, and loves to cuddle close to us. He’s comfortable, in that he’s not afraid of any noises, never jumped or flinched at any thing. He’s a brave fearless sweetheart. His happy place is next to you, sleeping belly up with all 4 paws in the air. LB is daring and curious on walks, uses his them to stop and sniff a lot, and to eliminate as much as possible. He’s been patient and calm with us, and would benefit from an adopter that is ready to have a small mongoose shaped shadow in tow. He’ll love you quickly, and you’ll have his head digging under your hand for a forced pet, in no time, if you choose this cutie pie.
