Not unlike the famous Beach Boys song, when you meet this beautiful long-legged Maltese mix dudette, you too will wish they all could be California girls! Our sweet California has proven herself to be a bit of an extrovert which served her well in her previous place of employment. She tells us she had loads of fun meeting tourists on the Hop On-Hop Off bus, and providing interesting information about San Francisco as well as her namesake state. At 13 years of age, we think this lovely, agile gal would also have fun taking a walk through Golden Gate Park on a foggy morning. At 13 pounds she could prove to be the perfect partner for a morning or early evening stroll. She loves treats (don’t we all?) and is very polite, gentle and exceedingly sweet. She invites you to come any time to Muttville HQ, make her acquaintance and have a nice visit! Here's some notes from her foster: California is sweet and gentle with long legs that she uses to her advantage. For a senior dog, she moves easily and happily goes on walks up and down hills. She’s great on the leash, on stairs, and in an elevator. And she is excellent on toilet breaks - no messing around. On first meeting she may seem a bit shy but she warms up quickly especially if you have treats. She can ride on buses and go to the pharmacy at Walgreens (accompanied by her human of course). She loves little squeaky toys and will play fetch to a limited degree. But her favorite activity is eating treats and cuddling on the couch. We think she is a little hard of hearing which helps her cope with living in the noisy city, but she has learnt to sit on command with the right hand gesture (and a treat). She would make a great companion for someone, and loves to snuggle up. She sleeps soundly through the night and during the day likes to cuddle, nap, get head and belly rubs, and go out. (She’s pretty good at letting you know when she has to go out.) She doesn’t like to eat much in the first half of the day, although she does like her dinner and will accept treats anytime! She hasn’t barked yet, but lets you know she’s missing you. She has a kink in her tail so it may have been broken at some point. She lets bigger dogs know that they can’t boss her around, and we’ve been gradually introducing her to off-leash play with other dogs which is going well. (Since we don’t have a cat or kids we don’t know how she reacts but seems to be very comfortable with people.)

Here's some notes from her foster: Sweet, independent, and teeny tiny—Trina is a wonderful pint sized companion who is happy to spend some time on her own but is equally happy to be near her people or carried around. She is pee-pad trained and is very good about going potty on her pads. Trina took some time to decompress and get comfortable once we brought her home, but she has made a huge transformation in a short amount of time. Initially wary about being touched, it didn't take long for her to remember what feeling safe and loved is like. After a few days I was able to give her a much needed bath and I think this was the major turning point where she started to feel comfortable again. She now cuddles up next to me on the couch, enjoys pets, and she lets me pick her up and carry her around. Little Trina is growing sweeter every day and I think it’s going to be so rewarding for whoever her lucky adopter will be to watch her find love and happiness again.

Here are some notes from his foster: He has so much confidence now that he's feeling better-- he loves hanging out with other dogs, has a huge appetite, enjoys going on walks, adventures in the car, loves cuddles and really really loves having a routine! Like a lot of our dogs, Ethan's daily routine is pretty straight forward-Ethan knows after his morning potty time comes breakfast and he will patiently and proudly wait by his bowl, once he's finished eating, he goes into the living room to get cozy on the couch and take a morning nap.. etc. What a great life! He has such a goofy little personality, and cutest little face, with his tiny little underbite--you can't help but smile when he's around. Ethan's forever home should include lots of love, patience, TLC, positive reinforcement, and the ability to keep him to a routine-- All of your hard work will be rewarded with the never ending amount of love, trust and companionship Ethan has to give in return.

Meet Tag, the fluffy little gentleman with the soul of a philosopher and the charm of your favorite rom-com lead. This curious Maltipoo is equal parts snuggle bug and neighborhood gossip—always ready for a chat, especially if you’re discussing snacks or squirrel conspiracies. He’s house trained, leash savvy, and gets along great with other dogs. He’ll go up stairs like a champ and prefers a royal escort down. Adopt him and—yep, Tag, you’re it! Here are some notes from his foster: Overall, Tag was a wonderful weekend guest. He was indifferent to the two other Muttville pups in the home. He appears to be housetrained and was really good on the leash and in the car! He did not show any signs of resource guarding, was a good eater and didn't beg for food. Tag didn't seem to care about sleeping on the bed, and was content in a doggie bed simply next to the bed. Tag did pace and whine a bit during the day, but eventually settled down-- especially if he was able to snuggle up in a blanket near a human or get comfy in his doggie bed. Our guess is that once he's comfortable with his surroundings and there are a few "safe spots" for him to relax, he won't pace as often. He also likes to follow his human around and can be a bit of an escape artist when the outside door is opened...so just be mindful that he might take himself for a walk if his human is distracted. And he's good with stairs going down, but likes to be carried up them :) We're excited to see what happens next for Tag and have no doubt he'll find his forever home quickly! Thanks for letting us hang out with the little dude this weekend! It was a real treat for us.
