Anna is a happy, active Maltese with a big personality packed into a little body! She absolutely adores people and is wonderful with kids and other dogs, making her a fantastic fit for a social, loving home. This sweet girl loves to play—especially with her soft toys—and would thrive in a moderately active home where she can enjoy time outdoors and stay engaged. Whether it’s playtime, adventures, or cuddles, Anna is always ready to be part of the fun. One thing to know about Anna: she does have a bay-style howl, so she’s not shy about using her voice when she’s excited or wants to join the conversation! If you’re looking for a playful, people-loving pup with lots of charm and character, Anna may be your perfect match Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
Spike is a handsome maltipoo mix. He can be a little shy at first, it takes him a minute to trust someone and warm up. But once he does, you have best friend for life! He is a very happy cuddly dog. Spike has the most fun natural blonde Mohawk that just adds to his charm! DOB 5/8/24 and around 25 lbs. Spike prefers a home without cats and, honestly, would do best as the only furry companion. He can be a bit of an attention hog and doesn’t like to share his favorite human! He would also do best in a home with no kids or kids over 12, who will respect his personal space while he adjusts to a new environment. He does have a lot of energy, so he also has his paws crossed for a backyard with a privacy fence! Find our application on our website https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/

Story
About Me: Name: Valerie Breed (or best guess): Maltese Approximate Age: 2 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 7 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Patient Adopter, another small dog, secure potty area/fence Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Valerie came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a bit of a nervous girl but has learned to accept being picked up, she just isn't sure about being petted yet.  She will dance around on her hind legs for her food.  She gets along with her doggy friends at the shelter as long as you watch them while they eat because she will try to steal the other dog's food.  She is on her way to learning how to be a loved pet, just needs more time to take those baby steps forward. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS December 11, 2025, 7:35 pm

Story
Imogen is a gentle little soul who seems to float through life on quiet paws. At 12 years young, this sweet Shih Tzu has perfected the art of calm companionship—she’s soft, serene, and radiates an almost angelic peace wherever she rests. If you’re looking for a dog who brings tranquility and warmth into your home, Imogen is your girl.Imogen is wonderfully easygoing and happy just being near her people. She adores lap time, gentle scratches, and loving attention when she’s awake, though she’s equally content spending much of her day napping sweetly in her cozy bed. She never barks, has no bad habits, and is beautifully well-behaved when left alone—no crate required. This precious girl is blind and hard of hearing, which only adds to her peaceful nature. She doesn’t need commands to thrive—just routine, patience, and love. Imogen does best on the lower level of the home and prefers to avoid stairs, snow, mud, and other tricky surfaces. She enjoys being outside when the weather is kind, especially if there’s a clear, shoveled path for her to stroll.Imogen is indifferent to other dogs, unfazed by the world around her, and simply asks for a soft place to land and a gentle human to love. She’s an old soul with a heart full of quiet devotion—ready to be someone’s little guardian angel at home.Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Gladys!  Gladys is an approximately 1 year old sweet Maltese that just arrived from transport.  Although she just arrived, her true personality has already came through! Making her a heart stealer and a perfect buddy to follow you around!  Here’s more about Gladys:  Walks- She walks great on leash, and tends to look back, making sure she is pleasing you and near you!  Crate- She willing goes in her crate (well with some slight bribery, a treat preferably).  Cuddles- Gladys loves some cuddles, and is sure to lay down and show you her belly, making her the perfect late night move partner!  Overall, Gladys is sure to steal your heart! If you are looking for a sweet, cuddly and loyal pup she is your girl. Gladys recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous mammary tumor. Thankfully, the tumor was completely excised, and she is currently cancer-free. While this is very positive news, she will require ongoing preventative care and regular veterinary monitoring to help ensure her continued health and to catch any potential concerns early. With proper follow-up care and attention, her prognosis is very good, and she is expected to live a happy, healthy life.  apply at pharf.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 2, 2026, 4:21 pm
