Poodle (Miniature) puppies and dogs in Forest Lake, Minnesota

Hi! I’m Sheila, I'm 8 years old and done being a mama! I’m enjoying my new life in Minnesota learning to play and looking forward to retiring on a couch, eating treats, playing with my toys, and snuggling up with my people. I’ve been spending my days dancing around my foster home trying out ALL the toys and ALL the beds, sniffing ALL the smells in the backyard, and taking naps both inside and out. Things I’ve learned I love are attention, treats, attention, toys (especially squeaky ones), attention, breakfast and dinner, attention, and sitting in laps. And did I mention attention? Things I’m figuring out is pottying outside (I know to go outside, but usually go inside once a day just because i want to!), which things/plants are ok to chew (hint- phone charger cords are NOT ok), and sometimes other dogs (I want ALL your attention!) I play tug and chase with the right companion but they need to be ok with me being the boss. Things I’m not a fan of are storms and loud noises, strangers, and the super cold weather. I don’t know or care what cats are- boring! I’m poodly smart with a big personality and would love to learn more games and might benefit from working with a trainer to help me learn to share if I end up living with other dogs. I can get a little jealous and bossy!  I will let you know if it sounds like anyone is coming home so living in a place with shared walls won't work for me as all those noises make me anxious and our neighbors won't like me letting them all know!  I will also answer if I hear other dogs calling me, ignoring them would be rude! I don't really like the leash but love to go outside in my fenced in yard to go potty, so I will definitely need a fence!  Zoomies in the yard or chasing my people are enough exercise for me. What I want most in life is to snuggle my BFF and eat treats. Can you be that BFF? Robert is a two-year-old mini Goldendoodle who is on the smaller side for his breed. He boasts a luscious brown coat with white accents. Robert arrived in Minnesota on January 21, 2024, to enjoy his retirement from breeding. As such, he requires patience and understanding while he adjusts to being a "normal" dog. He retains some puppy energy and delights in performing zoomies in the backyard. He bonded well with his foster sister, a very laid-back 100lb yellow Lab before she was adopted. Given his nervousness about his newfound freedom, we believe he would thrive with a strong and confident resident dog. Currently, he is attached to the human mom and becomes anxious when separated from her, resulting in some whining and barking. While the humans are away, he stays in a kennel and will bark upon their return. He also sleeps in his kennel at night, typically waking up around 6:30/7 am. When humans are present during the day, he prefers to stay close to the human mom, either sleeping at her feet while she works on the laptop or resting in the doggie bed in the same room. He is trained to use the doggie door to access the fenced backyard for his needs. He enjoys walks and behaves well on a leash, although he may get nervous and try to flee if other dogs bark at him. He seldom urinates during walks but will defecate post-feeding. He is uncertain about car rides and is most comfortable in a small crate or on someone's lap. At home, he coexists peacefully with cats but enjoys chasing bunnies in the backyard. He tolerates young children attempting to cuddle him and is shy around new people. He engages with toys, particularly enjoying squeaky ones after having a phase of de-stuffing them. With time and encouragement to build his confidence, Robert is eager to make a loving home his own. Meet “Court” whom we have been lovingly calling Hank the tank. Obviously for his ferocious bark and incredibly intimidating stare down! He was born 1/31/24 and weighs around 4 pounds. He is a teacup poodle so he’ll remain pretty small. Hank is a very sweet kind playful puppy who also sleeps a ton! I do believe he would do well in any type of living setting. He has barked maybe three times since we picked him up and it was at his toys! He does very well with cats and other dogs. He’s learning how to walk well on a leash. He does great in his collar and harness and has been doing phenomenal with potty training!! He has done so amazing with car rides as well, he sleeps in the passenger seat. He is truly a little shadow. He follows his foster mom everywhere she goes and sleeps at her feet while she’s cooking or doing the dishes. He loves all things toys and is not very treat motivated. He is an all around wonderful dog to have around. He’s got a spicy little personality and will love to snuggle up and take a nap or play all day. I'm a very handsome Miniature Poodle, and I'm discovering the joys of comfort and love in my foster home. Each day brings me more confidence, and I'm eager to share my overflowing love with a special someone—maybe that's you! I am a bit timid, sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises still make me a bit uneasy. However, I'm getting better at facing these fears every day. When foster mom is still, I'm all about those loving pets and cuddles. But if she's on the move, I keep my distance—I even bolt if she walks toward me. I know commands like "outside" and "stop," and leash and potty training are still on my to-learn list. I'm 95% potty trained, especially with a consistent routine. A fenced yard is a must for my adventurous spirit. I'd love to have a canine companion to show me the ropes, help me 'dog' properly, and boost my confidence. We're working on some manners, and my foster pals are excellent teachers. Walking on a leash needs some practice, and a confident pal by my side would be perfect. Despite being easily startled and a bit hand-shy, I've found joy in playing with toys, furry friends, and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm all about giving kisses, nibbling fingers, and enjoying ear scratches. Zoomies are my specialty, especially in the fenced yard or on the stairs. I've got some manners to polish up, like waiting for my turn and distinguishing between toys and household items – hee hee! Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I’m fairly new here but have been gaining confidence by the day!  As with most dogs, when I first meet someone, I’m a little shy and timid.  I’m really curious inside and want to be near so it’ll just need a bit of time to know that you’re a safe space for me.  I’ve been learning about trust and now I’m more apt to stay put than run, when approached.  Once I’m picked up I just melt right in for love.  That’ll likely be my personality all the time once I know you’re my people.  I’ve just started sleeping on my foster’s leg and inching my way up to hopefully a lap soon. In my spare time I enjoy eating and playing with other dogs.  I’m trying hard to follow along and go potty outside but as close as I am to getting the hang of it, I might need a little transition time to learn it at my forever home too. I do well in the kennel and am working on going inside on command.  Won’t that be a neat trick?! I do need a fenced yard in my forever home. When it is time to put on a leash and harness, I get worried. We are practicing how to stay put nicely to put on a harness without bolting.  HAHA  I’m tricky like that.  I haven’t really had any true leash walking experience so that’s something we can practice.  I do know the command for “stay” which is what I’m told when they want to wrangle me in the harness.  I have been snarky with some of the other dogs here when it comes to my food.  I have to tell them to buzz off, that it’s mine.  That seems to be all it is, as I’m not aggressive.  I can be an only dog too if you’d like.
