Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.     Houston is a sweet little miniature poodle, that was a local surrender - unfortunately, his previous owners did not have enough time for him with their busy schedule. Houston is approximately 1.5 years old and around 12 lbs. He originally came from a breeder and he had not been housetrained. Houston has made progress in the housetraining department, but he still wears belly bands in the house to prevent accidents. Houston is used to living with dogs and because of his puppy mill type background, we think he needs to live in a home with another dog, as they make him more comfortable. Another smallish dog would probably be best, but he hangs well with the big ones too. He can be shy with strangers, but is not shy once he bonds with you.   Houston is a total love bug. He really wants to be near his caretaker. He is very quiet in the house, he will snuggle up in a dog bed near you while you work from home. He loves to sleep in the bed with you, but is very good and sleeps down near your feet and sleeps all night.   Houston is a sensitive little doggy that loves his person, loves to go to the dog park, loves to break out in the occasional zoomy and have a good time! He will need a dedicated type of person, who is savvy to the needs of a somewhat shy dog and stays on top of his housetraining schedule. Interested in adopting or learning   more about this animal ? Please complete an interest  form on our website  here . Interest forms are not binding  contracts. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Say hello to Indra – a fluffball of love wrapped in a gentle layer of nervous curiosity. Indra is a five-year-old mini poodle with the heart of a marshmallow and the soul of a soft-spoken introvert. She’s a bit of a Nervous Nelly in new places (think vet clinics, grooming salons, and probably Mars), but once she’s back home in her cozy, familiar environment? She turns into a Grade-A snugglebug, champion cuddler, and resident chew toy hoarder. Her hobbies include: collecting squishy toys like tiny trophies, nesting them in her dog bed like a dragon with treasure, and sneakily stealing your heart with her puppy-dog eyes. She’s still mastering potty training and leash-walking, but give her a fenced yard and a regular routine, and she’ll be golden. Indra would love a doggy sibling—ideally one close to her size who doesn’t believe in full-contact zoomies. She finds comfort in other pups, and without them, she tends to bark out her feelings about being left alone (hey, we all need to vent sometimes). Her dream home is quiet, calm, predictable, and stocked with soft beds, soft voices, and soft treats. If you're patient, loving, and already have a gentle four-legged friend ready to show her the ropes, Indra will be your most loyal little companion—once she decides you’re part of her inner circle. Adopt Indra and get a tiny, curly-haired best friend who just needs a little time, a little trust, and a lot of squishy toys. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  I know you want to meet me! Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, July 20th from 12:00-1:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Meet Skippy, the adorable 8-pound senior poodle (or poodle mix) who’s got all the sweet vibes of a happy old man. Skippy’s a total lovebug who just wants to be by your side—whether it’s snuggling on the couch, curling up in your lap, or burrowing under a pile of blankets to make his perfect little nest. He’s all about cuddles, snacks (a soft milkbone after doing his business is a must!), and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Skippy is potty trained and while he loves the comfort of a fenced yard to roam, he is leash trained and also loves the smells of the neighborhood when doing walks.  While he’s a little barker when left alone, he's generally a calm and docile soul who would do best in a home where he’s not left alone too much. Skippy enjoys the company of other dogs (especially those around his size) but could also be happy as a solo dog with enough attention and love. This sweet, tiny guy has a few quirks—but he’s just as cute as a button and full of love. As he has had more time in rescue and his skin has begun healing a bit, this does seem to be improving.  His vet thinks he’s around 12 or 13, but honestly, he might be even older, which just makes him even more of a little senior gem. Skippy is best suited for a home without too many stairs (he's small and has some old man joints) and would thrive with a family that’s home often and ready to give him the snuggles he deserves. If you're looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion who will be your cuddle buddy and give you endless love, Skippy is the perfect match! He’s got a heart full of joy and is just waiting for the right person to spoil him. If you’re looking for a fluffy, four-legged best friend who doubles as a part-time comedian and full-time cuddlebug, meet Toto. This poodle prince is a people-loving, lap-seeking, food-dancing bundle of charm with a flair for the dramatic (especially if you're leaving the house without him). Toto is happiest when he’s part of the action—whether it’s tagging along on a walk, trotting behind you around the house, or performing his signature trick: walking on two legs when dinner is served. He’s great with calm, gentle kids and is hoping for either a playful pup companion or a human who can shower him with attention and belly rubs. Toto isn’t quite potty trained yet, but he’s incredibly close and learns quickly on a schedule. He sleeps like a dream in his crate at night, though he’ll voice his opinion if left alone in it during the day (what can we say, he just loves company). With a bit of leash training and maybe a puppy class or two, this little guy will be your loyal, goofy, heart-stealing sidekick for life. Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $295.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi! My name is Cookie and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Cookie a yorkipoo breeder release. She has diabetes and is blind, but still manages to be sweet and silly. She loves being with her humans and snuggles. She has strong opinions about being separated and will use her voice to let you know exactly how she feels. She is also pretty quick to settle down. She goes potty and poop on a schedule but is also still prone to have accidents in the house. She does enjoy small walks and does okay on a leash. She would need someone willing to keep a good schedule for her Insulin and to follow through with veterinarian appointments. From the Vet: I am Cookie and I have been cleared for adoption! After TBB helping to address my medical issues I will share where I am at with all of them. My diabetes is currently managed on insulin and a special veterinary diet. My diabetes will need to be monitored with a primary vet. I was seen for a mammary mass removal surgery recently and the good news is that the biopsy showed that the tumors were benign with good margins. This means that the removal procedure is likely to be curative for these masses and we do not expect me to need any future care for this issue. It is always good to routinely monitor for any masses and have them evaluated in the future should any present.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you’re a fan of scruffy dogs with big personalities, Neemo might just be your perfect match! This fun-loving, energetic pup is looking for a home that can match his playful spirit and help him continue to grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Neemo is a bit shy when meeting new people, but don’t let that fool you — he warms up quickly and loves to show off his goofy, affectionate side. He’s eager to please and just wants to be part of the action, whether that’s zooming around the yard or soaking up your attention. Neemo can be a little mouthy (he likes to “nibble” at feet while you walk — classic puppy behavior that he’s working on with training), and he is vocal when settling into his kennel, especially in new environments (probably not the best fit for apartment living or homes with shared walls) Neemo is sweet, goofy, and ready to learn! He’s looking for a family who can give him the structure, training, and playtime he needs — and who doesn’t mind a little extra silliness along the way. If you’re looking for a happy, scrappy, lovable pup with energy to spare and a ton of love to give, Neemo is waiting to meet you! Neemo is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 7/26 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and 11am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 13, 2025, 9:55 pm
