I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. The CSAC volunteer said that I am friendly, calm and cuddly. I like to be held, and I do know how to get along with children. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. Newton is a mixed breed we presume to be Shih-Tzu / Poodle mix. He is around 20 pounds (underweight) neutered and just recently vetted. Newton ended up in a local shelter completely matted and in pain. He was shaved down, neutered and had imbecile hernia repair. He was too stressed out in the shelter so they reached out for a rescue group to help him. We got there as soon as we can. Newton is an active, happy, playful dog that gets along well with his new foster brother. He seems to be energetic and active and a bit mouthy so he would not do well with young children. Look back here for more information as we get to know him better. Newton is a very affectionate companion. He seems to want to and will climb into your lap to be close to you. He like to be in touch with his people either on the lap, next to and touching on the couch, and very close in bed at night with his warm body.
