Story
It’s been a fun day!!!! We got a face trim, played with toys, did errands and loved the car. See Mello’s 1st pic in the shelter in South Texas and this handsome guy who is playful, cheery, funny and sweet! 4 years old, 20lbs of pure joy. Mello, a shih tzu mix loves big dogs, little dogs, toys, and tennis 🎾. He’s a really fast runner too!!!! Today was hard bc he had to choose between 3 bunny 🐰 toys. Life is not fair. But we will get by. He is a sweet calm boy who sleeps on his back and is great company. Here is what we know about Mello: gets along GREAT with our dogs & fully potty trained! 0 accidents in the house! §excellent on leash! no pulling and completely nonreactive to other dogs and people § perfect behavior in the car! sits calmly went from sleeping under our bed to in it within a day & big on snuggles - sat on my lap during 4th of July fireworks We can tell he definitely has a past (co) but it doesn't take him long to warm up and gain trust. He was giving my kids face licks on day 1! However, he does appreciate his space and a calm demeanor while getting acquainted. He is all set to go to his final foster home tomorrow, but we have been so blessed to help out for this week and will really miss him. I pray he finds his forever family soon and his future is filled with much more love than his past! This is what we’ve learned about Mello so far: 🐶His name is so fitting...he really is a mellow pup 🐶 He loves stuffies but could care less about balls 🐶Picks up on routines quickly, likes car rides (prefers to be up front and naps) 🐶 Walks well on a leash and not reactive to other dogs/people 🐶Housetrained (no accidents or chewing) 🐶HATES the crate and behaves well when left out at night in the bedroom of his person 🐶Very independent and likes to try things without help 🐶Favorite thing is to be close to his person💕 🐶 Does NOT bark unless in the crate/playpen (much worse in the crate) Owner surrendered to the shelter, very sweet but very confused. We hope we can find these two guys the homes they deserve. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Story
Kobe is a REALLY sweet 34 month old Shih Tzu (2 years, 10 months old). He is affectionate, well behaved, house trained, and understands basic commands like sit, stay, wait, no, and ok. Comes with crate, playpen, toys, food, and bowl. Microchipped. Neutered. Shots are up to date. He has a health plan since 6 weeks old with PetSmart at $55/month that can be transferred to his new owner (or canceled), and eats the Royal Canine Shih Tzu kibble topped with NorthWest Naturals freeze dried beef and trout in the mornings. This diet is important as he will possibly vomit if you change it. He does very well with kids and loves to play. Had him since he was 6 weeks old. He’s a really sweet companion and loves to be next to his owner, waiting for a chance to play. Asking an adoption fee of $800 to make sure he goes to a good home that can care for him. Please reach out to me if interested.

Story
Ziggy was rescued into RHS on 2/22/25.  He is approximately 8 years old and weighed 15 lbs.  He was severly matted and was in need of help.  He received medical care and was shaved down at the same time.  He lost almost a pound of matted hair and dirt.  You can tell he came from an extended neglectful situations.  He has come so far in the last few weeks and he is a different little man.  He is working on going potty outside and is doing an exceptionally good job.  He walks on leash with some hesitation but improves gradually.  Car rides are good for him.  He likes his crate where he takes his afternoon naps often.  He has no issues with the 2 female dogs at the foster home.  He didn't hesitate to get a scratch from a young boy.   Overall, Ziggy is a quiet boy but gets excited whenever he was given a treat.  He is a great lap dog.  He needs someone who is patient because he is missing an eye and is partially blind in the other.  It won't slow him down at all once he learns your home and routines.  He is a wonderful dog with lots of love to give.   Here's how to meet Ziggy: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##2312837##
