Meet Geo, a one-year-old, 15 lb ShihTzu/Lhasa Apso mix. Adoption is limited to residents of the DFW Metroplex. He has a gorgeous multi-colored coat. He arrived at HT with a long, matted coat, so he had to be given a close haircut by the groomer, but it will grow back quickly. Geo is a sweet, playful bundle of joy and is settling into a great daily routine at is foster home. He sleeps through the night in his crate, wakes up with foster mom and resident dog for a morning walk, then eats breakfast. He plays and naps next to foster dad who works from home. Dinner and more play time before settling down at about 9 for snuggles with foster mom on the couch. Geo loves is daily walks and does great on leash. He is house and crate trained. He loves to play with toys and wrestle with the resident dog. He really enjoys a game of fetch. He takes treats gently and is great around all people. Boomer was fostered and adopted by a wonderful family about a year and a half ago thru RT4P. They love him but it has become very evident that a home without kids would be best for him. He is super sweet the majority of the time but he gets spooked by the kids in the home and he tries to bite because it’s his only way to defend himself he thinks. Boomer likes to sniff any new folks he meets before being petted. He loves attention but he needs to make sure you are ok first. Nothing wrong with that! We would love to see Boomer in a home where he can relax and not be on edge. He is such a cute fella we know he is going to find a home that is suited for him! Meet Zoey, Zoey has had a heartbreaking start to life. She and her three brothers were rescued from a hoarding and neglect situation in South Texas, where they were used mostly for breeding and lived in terrible conditions. When she was rescued, Zoey was severely matted, covered in fleas, and suffering from painful skin issues. During her spay surgery, it was also discovered that she had a large bladder stone that was causing constant bladder pressure and blood in her urine. In July, Zoey was transferred to the DFW area to obtain surgery to remove her bladder stone and continue her recovery while waiting for her forever family. Zoey is estimated to be about three years old. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, heartworm tested (negative), microchipped, current on flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention with a pro-heart 6 injection. Like most Shih Tzus, she does have allergies so she will require on-going meds to keep her comfortable. She will also require prescription dog food for life due to her bladder history to ensure she does not develop another bladder stone. Zoey would prefer a family that is home more often than not, but she has good manners in public, so she is happy to go with you. She walks easily on a leash, sleeps thru the night in a dog bed and loves to sit on your lap to cuddle. She is dog friendly and enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home especially when they are close to her size. She is potty trained and an extremely sweet, loving little girl who would make an amazing companion. She also just got a groom so she is looking and feeling her best! Meet “Material Girl” Taffeta! Sweet Taffeta is a 7-year-old girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. She is a very shy, scared little girl, but we’re already seeing glimpses of the sweet dog underneath that uncertainty. Taffeta is learning so much by watching the other dogs around her. Their confidence is helping her discover that she doesn’t have to be afraid, and she is making progress every day. We’re still getting to know this precious girl, but we have a feeling it won’t be long before she realizes that people can be trusted and starts making her way over for some love. Taffeta will need a patient, understanding family who will give her the time and space she needs to come out of her shell. She may not be the girl who runs up to greet you on day one, but watching a shy dog learn to trust and blossom is one of the most rewarding things in rescue. She may be a little scared right now, but this little Material Girl has plenty of love waiting to be discovered. Taffeta is still writing her story—and we can't wait to see how beautiful it becomes.
