Byron is looking for a loving foster home where they can rest and recover!Reason for Foster: Upper Respiratory Infection (URI)Foster Time Frame: Approximately 2 Weeks (Recheck 9/21)(The timeframe may vary depending on recovery and follow-up medical needs.)Foster Care Plan: This dog is being treated for an upper respiratory infection, which is similar to a common cold. While recovering, they may experience sneezing, congestion, coughing, or eye and nasal discharge. Their foster will provide a comfortable place to rest, give prescribed medications, and monitor their appetite, energy level, and overall recovery. Because URI can spread to other dogs, they should remain separated from resident dogs while recovering. Medication, supplies, and detailed care instructions will be provided at pickup.Once treatment is complete, they will return to Operation Kindness for their next medical steps and/or adoption.How to take this pet home...*ADOPT: This pet is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program. Meet Blue – Your Cuddly, Zoomie-Loving Squirrel Hunter! Blue is an almost 2-year-old Shih-Tzu mix with a sweet, playful personality and a few delightfully quirky habits that make him one-of-a-kind! First things first: Blue LOVES to eat! Put his food down and he’ll happily make it disappear immediately. Interestingly, though, he doesn’t seem to be much of a fan of treats — so don’t expect him to be easily bribed with snacks! When he’s not enjoying a meal, Blue loves being close to his people. He’s a cuddler who enjoys belly rubs and has an especially funny habit of rubbing his back along the floor, cement, or grass. He also handles bath time surprisingly well, which is always a bonus! Blue doesn’t bark much, but he has discovered a very important job: squirrel hunting. He is a completely silent squirrel hunter, patiently giving chase whenever one catches his attention. Will he ever actually catch one? Probably not… but that certainly isn’t going to stop him from trying! Blue enjoys playing with other dogs and loves a good game of tug-of-war. He also gets the zoomies and enjoys chasing his canine friends around. He does particularly well with smaller dogs who are easygoing and not overly high-strung or bossy. He is potty trained, dog-door trained, and crate trained. He’s good with other dogs, seems largely uninterested in cats, and walks fairly well on a leash, although there’s still a little room for improvement. One thing Blue will happily tell you is that car rides are NOT his favorite thing, so his new family may need to help him become more comfortable with traveling. Blue is a fun-loving boy who enjoys having canine companions, getting belly rubs, playing, exploring, and then settling in for some cuddle time. Chuy is not a barker or a licker, making him an especially pleasant little roommate. He is crate trained and will go into his crate when needed, but his foster has also been able to leave him loose in the house with no problems at all. When it comes to other dogs, Chuy is a total sweetheart. He gets along beautifully with both small and large dogs and is completely amenable to everyone. We haven’t had the opportunity to see how he does with cats yet. And his house manners? Fantastic! Chuy is completely potty trained and has had zero accidents in his foster home. When he needs to go out, he’ll simply sit and look at you to let you know, then happily trot along to the back door. He hasn’t shown any destructive chewing either, although he does love his chew toys! Chuy is the kind of dog who makes having a dog feel easy. He’s sweet, charming, well-mannered, gets along with other dogs, and is happiest simply sharing life with his people.
