Story
Oreo has been with the family for over 13 years. He is a much older dog. He is healthy, no health issues and has energy like a younger dog. He does not do well with other dogs as he loves to have all the hugs and kisses to himself. He is house trained and does not jump on furniture, or potty in doors. Since he is older, he does not require long walks, just long enough to do his business and then he is ready to go back home. Most of the day, he will lay in his bed but very close to you. He does not like to be crated at night. While he is not mean, he doesn't like to play with kids. The perfect home for him will be one that will allow him to remain out at night as well as a home without kids or other animals. He does not require a lot of attention or activity. He just wants to see you occasionally and have free run of the home. I am giving him up as I travel 20 days out of the month which requires me to board him often and my daughter lives in another state and is in college.

Story
Hazel is an ESA pet. Super sweet, smart, affectionate. Diagnosed with diabetes 1 year ago and today cataracts. I want her to live out the rest of her life well taken care of and she would be a great candidate for cataract surgery. It’s only been her and me for ten years. Her socialization with other dogs and younger kids is very limited. Now that she is a senior I think it may be a little stressful for her or she may be really shy I just turned 60 and I have medical procedures as well to address. I have been putting her first for years. She’s my everything but I know that her quality of life can be so much better

Story
Update 6/6/2024 Lily completed her heartworm treatment, and she was just spayed at Oak Grove Animal Hospital. This means she is now ready to find her forever home! Lily is a 2 year old Shih Tzu/American Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing 18lbs. Before joining the rescue, she had little to no human contact and feared most interaction with her fosters. Since being in their home, however, she has made so much progress! Her future adopters need to be patient and understanding and must take things slow with her. She does not sit in laps but likes to sleep in bed with her fosters at night. She doesn’t like to be crated, but her fosters put her in her kennel when they leave the house. Lily thrives around other dogs, so she needs a canine companion to serve as a mentor to her. She will follow what they do and learn from them! She is the most sweet and gentle little soul. If you are interested in adopting Lily, please submit an application at www.rescuerowinc.org. Update 5/22/2024 Lily gets along with all of her canine foster siblings, but she and Bella, the Pyrenees, have the sweetest friendship. Lily’s coat is growing back beautifully and she is becoming more trusting everyday. She has finished her heartworm treatment and will be spayed in a couple of weeks. This sweet girl is getting closer to being ready to find her forever home! Update 5/6/2024 Lily has come a LONG way in less than two months! She is now sleeping in her foster’s bed and loves being close to her canine foster sisters. She continues to take steps toward accepting touch and being near people. Her foster mom describes her as a gentle soul. Lily is almost done with her heartworm treatment and then she will be spayed and ready to find her forever home! Update 4/25/2024 Lily has come so far since joining the rescue a little over a month ago. In that time, she has stopped hiding behind furniture and/or shaking out of fear. She has consistently joined her foster family on the couch - although it may or may not be right next to them. She has even given a few kisses! She will now let her fosters approach her and pick her up. If she is outside, she might take a couple more laps around the yard and then sit (literally) as if she's saying 'ok, I'm ready for you to come get me.' Lily has only had one potty accident, which was out of fear during a storm. She does not go to the door or indicate she needs to go outside, but she is let out regularly. She is sleeping in her crate and is much calmer in general in the crate than she was a couple weeks ago. She loved the crate at first, then she hated it and now she's settling into it and does fine in it. She is the gentlest little soul. You can look at her eyes and see that she wants to trust. She's just not 100% there.... yet. She has done great with the other dogs in her foster home from day one. She is submissive and quiet. She literally watches and observes what the other dogs are doing and follows their lead. She rarely barks, but when she does, it's hard to believe the deep bark that comes out of her! Lily is still on medical hold, but we will continue to update the page on her progress. Update 4/17/2024 It is a big day for Lily as she is headed to Oak Grove Veterinary Hospital where she will receive her first injection to get rid of her heartworms. Her foster mom reports she has come a long way, but she is not 100% comfortable with them yet. She will approach them on her own at times, but is still very cautious. We will continue to update the page on Lily’s progress! Update 4/3/2024 Lily is continuing to make progress in her foster home! She wagged her tail for the first time and approached her foster mom on her own. She will be receiving her first heartworm injection soon and we will continue to update the page on Lily’s progress! Update 3/25/2024 Although Lily is still very fearful, she is making progress in her foster home. Yesterday, she decided to jump on the couch and take a nap! This is huge for a dog that has never lived inside or had human touch. We are already so proud of her progress and are eager to see her future growth. We will continue to update the page on this sweet girl! Lily lived on a property near a busy road with a pack of dogs. Animal advocates worked tirelessly to capture all of the dogs and get them to different rescues. Lily was the last one to be captured after learning that she had given birth to two puppies. Once captured Lily had to be completely shaved because she was so matted. She was also heartworm positive, but went through heartworm treatment, and now is a healthy girl! Lily had little to no human touch before joining Rescue Row. She is still shy around new people, but is learning to trust more and more everyday. Lily will need another dog in her forever home that can be her mentor and a patient family that understands she will take some time to warm up. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application at www.rescuerowinc.org  *Please check your junk email folder if you do not receive a response from a Rescue Row member within 3 business days. *You must live within an hour of the DFW Metroplex because we do trial adoptions and require a homecheck *Our adoption fees are as follows paid by cash, a check made out to Rescue Row, Venmo: @Rescue-Row or at Zelle: info@rescuerowinc.org Dogs 12 weeks-6 months old: $300 adoption fee Dogs 7 months and older: $275 adoption fee Rescue Row is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) all volunteer dog rescue organization serving the DFW Metroplex. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs. ##1998170##

Story
Lemon is a new arrival from a local, over crowded shelter.  He is about 6 years old and weighs 15 lbs.  He is super sweet and loves affection.  He gets along with all sizes of dogs and he is a happy boy.  We don't know his story but it couldn't have been a good one.  He came in so matted he could not see and he had already lost an eye.  We are so glad he is with Cody's to find him his forever home.   ##2073664##

Story
Hi… I’m Toby Keith, I am a 6 or 7 year old Shih Tzu. Sadly my family didn’t care enough about me to keep me safe and I found myself at an animal shelter. No-one came to take me home. Apparently that’s not unusual but I’m a special boy – You wouldn’t know it but I’m completely blind and the Vet told my foster mom that I had been blind for a long time. My foster mom said I didn’t act blind and my eyes look perfectly normal but I can't see. I love it when she lets me cuddle beside her and sometimes she lets me sleep with her. I am looking for a home with a family who will love me forever even though I am blind. Its OK if my new home has another dog as long as its a similar size as me.. I like cats and older kids as long as they know how to treat animals. I can completely navigate around my foster home, including going to the back door but I do need some work with house-training so I will need someone to be home often with me. Apart from not being able to see I am in good health and will make you a loving companion for many years. If you think you would like to be this sweet boy’s new home, go to our website and complete an adoption application. His foster mom will contact you as soon as possible. We are asking that applicants live within 15 miles of zip code 75035 (Frisco). Toby is a ShihTzu so he doesn't shed but will need brushing and periodic professional grooming
