Story
Meet Teddy ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¾ Teddy is an 11-year-old Shih Tzu and Poodle mix (often called a â&#194&#128&#194&#156Shih-Pooâ&#194&#128&#194&#157) weighing about 20 pounds â&#194&#128&#194&#148 the perfect medium-small size for cuddles on the couch and leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. Donâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t let his age fool you â&#194&#128&#194&#148 this charming gentleman is still wonderfully active and enjoys his daily walks just as much as he loves soaking up attention from his favorite humans. Teddyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s favorite spot in the house? A comfy place on the couch where he can gaze out the window, keeping an eye on the world. He may have a protective bark, but itâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s all talk â&#194&#128&#194&#148 heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s completely harmless and just likes to make sure everyone knows heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s on duty. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s wonderful with children and has a gentle, loving nature. The only thing he asks is that his face not be touched â&#194&#128&#194&#148 he prefers pets and scratches everywhere else. Teddy would do best as the only dog in the home, as heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not great with other dogs and prefers having his people all to himself. Teddy is fully potty trained and will politely let you know when he needs to go outside. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s also crate trained and can comfortably relax there for hours at a time. He is up to date on all vaccinations and has no health concerns, making him a happy and healthy companion ready for his next chapter. While Teddy absolutely loves affection and companionship, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s also perfectly content spending some quiet time on his own. He would thrive in a home where he can get the love and attention he deserves while still enjoying his independence. If youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re looking for a loyal, loving 20-pound bundle of affection with the perfect balance of playful energy and cozy couch vibes, Teddy might just be your perfect match. ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¶ð&#194&#159&#194&#146&#194&#155 This pet is participating in the Dallas Pets Alive rehoming program. Sterling is a new arrival from a local shelter.  He was found and no one came looking for him.  He weighs 21 ls, and he is about 2 years.  He is super sweet and has been waiting a long time to get out of that shelter since his owner never came for him.  He is super Sweet and good with other dogs. He loves to play with toys.  He does need an experienced owner - He loves to play with other dogs all sizes - XL to small.  He took awhile to trust and become who he is so he will take a bit of patience to trust.  Once he does he is such a happy, happy dog! He weighs 21 lbs and is 1 to 2 years old.  Applications at codysfriendsrescue.org ##2755092##

Story
We were picking up another rescue dog at the shelter and they brought out Niko.  He was matted badly and we brought him in.  He is now with a foster and doing well.  He takes a few seconds to warm up but otherwise a sweetheart.  He did not come from a good place.  His eyes were matted almost shut and he was filthy.  We don't know for sure  if this is correct but he might be best with older children instead of toddlers.  Somene is going to get a sweet one when he is adopted.   Hi, he is doing great in his foster home. He is really charming says hisi foster. He is so sweet! He started off as a Velcro dog but has slowly begun to get settled further away from the foster.. He gets along well with other dogs and kids. He has not mastered basic commands yet but is working on it! He answers when called and seems to be eager to please. He has a lot of love to give and is content being with his person and getting lots of love, scratches and belly rubs. ##2769657##

Story
Meet Snoopy – The Happy-Go-Lucky Puppy Who's Always Ready for Fun! If happiness had four legs and a wagging tail, it would be Snoopy! This adorable Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix is full of personality and brings joy wherever he goes. He's the kind of puppy who greets each day with excitement, whether he's exploring the backyard, chasing his dog friends, or showering his favorite humans with sweet puppy kisses. Snoopy is a social butterfly who loves being around people and other dogs. He's quick to make friends and fits right in with his foster siblings. When playtime is over, Snoopy turns into an expert snuggler. He's incredibly affectionate and has a funny habit of giving kisses wherever he can—your face, your hands, even your toes aren't safe from this little love bug! His adorable snaggle-tooth smile only adds to his irresistible charm and is guaranteed to make you smile right back. While Snoopy enjoys relaxing with his people, he's definitely the more active brother and would love a family that can keep up with his playful spirit. Whether it's backyard adventures, walks, games, or simply exploring the world together, Snoopy is happiest when he's part of the action. This curious little guy also loves keeping an eye on the neighborhood from the windowsill, watching the world go by and making sure nothing interesting escapes his attention. He's a bit more vocal than his brother, but it's simply part of his expressive, happy personality. He's making great progress with house training and confidently uses a doggy door, though he's still learning and may have the occasional accident as any puppy would. He's also working on crate training and willingly eats his meals in his crate. Snoopy enjoys the company of other dogs, especially those closer to his size, and has not yet been tested with cats or children. With his playful energy, loving heart, and easygoing nature, Snoopy would make a wonderful companion for an active individual, couple, or young family looking for a puppy to grow up alongside. If you're searching for a best friend who will make you laugh, keep you moving, and never miss an opportunity to hand out kisses, Snoopy is ready to meet you!  ##2766755##

Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Hi! My name is Zena. One of my best friends is Zappo but as long as I am close to my person, I’ll be happy. Mom says I’m “pleasingly plump”. I weigh a whopping 20 lbs! I have great potty manners and sleep in a kennel at night. I am about 5-6 yo and I just want to be loved. I get along well with other dogs. If you have a place for me in your home, please apply!

Story
Pluto is a fun loving guy who also loves to curl up and snooze. He is a great hiker and loves a good trail. He loves a neighborhood walk too. He loves to tug but never mastered a fetch game. He loves his people but doesn’t particularly love a cuddle session. He loves chicken, and responds to the word “TREAT”. He will sit, heal, spin, high five, and crawl on command. He’s great on a long car ride, and is great a digging holes on command in the garden. We had twins and are sadly not able to provide him with the life he deserves. We would love to find him a family that will treat him like the king of the house. Which was his role before the twins were born.

Story
Gretchen Weiners (named after the Mean Girls character) Gretchen Weiners is a little lady who knows exactly who she is even if her early years weren't so certain. She's around 5 years old and weighs 6 lbs. She came to us having had a rocky start to life and because of that needs consistency in her routines to really come out of her shell. She enjoys affection on her own terms - she's happy to soak up pets and snuggles, but she's equally content doing her own thing on a comfy couch or pillow. She won't be under your feet or demanding constant attention; she has her own social calendar, thank you very much. Like any true Plastic, Gretchen has layers. She's independent and spirited, with that classic chihuahua attitude. Her perfect match is someone who understands the chihuahua temperament and has a calm, patient household where she can settle in, build trust, and remember that everything is going to be okay. She still can't quite make fetch happen, but she will let you sit with her. Probably. Gretchen is potty trained and kennel trained. She does best with a strong routine and would love a home where her days look largely the same. Due to Gretchen's size and consistency needs she is not suitable for a home with children, everyone in her future home needs to be 16+. Gretchen is fine with other dogs however will not do well in a busy home or with high energy dogs. She chases her tail when stressed and that can overly excite some other dogs so any future companions will need to be lower energy and indifferent to her activity. She also would thrive as an only dog as she has no problem being Queen of her domain. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.
