This adorable 4 year old Yorkie mix came to us from the shelter shy, shaky, and unsure of the world around him. Fast forward just a couple of weeks, and Nano has blossomed into the sweetest tiny sidekick imaginable — equal parts cuddly lap dog, curious explorer, and treat-motivated genius.   He’s the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart before you even realize it happened. One minute he’s independently making his rounds between his many cozy beds around the house, and the next he’s standing on his hind legs asking for a hug with the tiniest little whines that sound suspiciously like “I love you.”   Daily Life with Nano   Nano thrives on routine and has his little schedule completely mastered. His day starts around 6:45am with a morning walk, followed by breakfast and then some quality lounging time while his foster works from home. He rotates between beds in the office, living room, dining room, and bedroom like a tiny king making inspections of his kingdom. Sometimes he disappears entirely, only to be discovered tucked into a bed somewhere, cozied up and snoozing.   He enjoys several walks throughout the day and absolutely lights up when he sees the leash come out. Nano’s excitement is next-level — he does tiny kangaroo hops straight into the air when walk time arrives. Despite his small size, he’s surprisingly adventurous and even completed most of a 5-mile walk before happily riding the rest of the way in a backpack like the little VIP he is.   At night, Nano puts himself to bed. Truly. After his final potty walk, he’ll hang out briefly in the living room before quietly wandering into the bedroom and curling up inside his soft crate all on his own. It’s impossibly cute.   Personality   Nano is the perfect blend of affectionate and independent. He loves cuddling, loves laps, and gives the most heart-melting hugs, but he’s also perfectly content entertaining himself nearby or lounging solo in one of his favorite spots around the house.   Once he trusts you, his affectionate side absolutely shines. He leans his tiny body against you when sitting in your lap and melts into cuddles when you baby-talk him. Tell him he’s a “good boy” or a “wittle baby,” and his tail starts wagging, his ears go back, and he turns into a puddle of happiness.   He’s also incredibly smart and eager to please. In less than two weeks, he mastered commands like “sit,” “wait,” “bed,” and “crate.” He genuinely enjoys learning and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement and treats. Nano would thrive with someone excited to continue building his confidence and teaching him new things.   Social Life   Nano can initially be cautious around new dogs and unfamiliar situations, especially larger dogs or busy environments. He tends to avoid conflict rather than seek it out, often choosing to move away if another dog gets too close on walks.   That said, once given a little time, he settles in beautifully. When introduced to a gentle 60-pound Lab, Nano started out barking nervously but quickly relaxed, sniffed politely, and peacefully shared space together.   With people, Nano is polite and observant. He’s happy to greet guests with a sniff and then calmly decide whether they’re worthy of his affection — or whether they might have snacks. If food is involved, Nano becomes everyone’s best friend.   Training and Home Manners   Nano is fully housetrained and crate trained. He’s had only one accident in foster care, and it happened right near the door when he was trying his best to hold it. He has zero destructive habits — no chewing, digging, or mischief-making. Honestly, for such a tiny dog, he has incredibly impressive manners.   He’s generally very quiet, too. He may grumble softly when surprised or unsure, but he rarely barks. The main thing he complains about is car rides, where he tends to whine no matter where he’s sitting.   Nano has a very low-shedding coat; his foster hasn't noticed any fur around the house at all. He may not be an option for those who need a hypoallergenic dog, but he's not going to leave hair all over your couch either!   Why We Love Him   There’s something incredibly special about earning Nano’s trust. Watching this tiny, timid shelter dog discover comfort, safety, and love has been magical.   And once you’re in his inner circle? You get the full Nano experience: kangaroo jumps at leash time, tiny hugs on your lap, dramatic cuddling sessions, and the joy of discovering him randomly tucked into his crate in the middle of the afternoon because apparently he decided it was nap o’clock.   Nano may be teeny tiny, but the amount of love packed into this little guy is absolutely enormous.May 12, 2026, 10:20 am

She’s a 5–6 month old Yorkie mix who came to DPS with her sisters, Fauna and Merriweather, after the trio was abandoned and brought to a shelter. Now safe in foster care, Flora is showing everyone what a special little dog she is.   She has a soft non-shedding coat, soulful eyes, and the gentlest personality imaginable. Flora is calm, quiet, and incredibly sweet. She isn’t the kind of puppy bouncing off the walls demanding constant entertainment. Instead, she’s the kind of companion who happily curls up nearby while you work, follows you softly from room to room, and makes your home feel peaceful just by being in it.   One of her cutest quirks is the tiny little jumps she does when she gets excited — like a baby lamb hopping through the house. It’s impossible not to smile when you see it.   Daily Life with Flora   Her days are simple and cozy. Flora wakes up around 7:30 AM, enjoys breakfast at 8:00, then heads out for a walk. The world still feels a little big to her sometimes, so she’s learning leash walking and building confidence outdoors one step at a time.   Back at home, she loves lounging in sunny spots, relaxing near her people, and quietly keeping them company throughout the day. She’s friendly with adults and children alike, never noisy or demanding, and has been wonderfully easy to care for. She doesn’t bark at visitors, chew things she shouldn’t, or create chaos around the house. Some of this may be because she's still settling in; her full personality will emerge once she begins to feel completely comfortable in her new home.   At night, she sleeps peacefully on her mattress next to the bed, perfectly content just knowing her people are close by.   Why People Fall for Flora   Flora is still working on potty training, and she can be shy in new situations, but there’s something incredibly rewarding about earning the trust of a gentle dog like her. Every little tail wag, every tiny lamb hop, every moment she chooses to scoot closer to you feels meaningful.   She’s the kind of dog people dream about when they picture a calm companion — affectionate without being clingy, peaceful without being boring, and sweet in a way that sneaks up on you. For someone looking for a soft, loving little shadow with a tender heart and adorable quirks, Flora is going to be very hard to forget.May 12, 2026, 10:20 am

All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption fee: $800 Merriweather: Tiny Princess, Brave little Explorer   Merriweather may only weigh 7.7 pounds, but somehow she looks even smaller in person — like a tiny storybook dog who accidentally wandered into real life. This adorable 5–6 month old Yorkie mix was rescued alongside her sisters, Flora and Fauna, after the trio was found abandoned and brought to a shelter. Thankfully, DPS stepped in and gave these girls the fresh start they deserved.   With her soft non-shedding coat, Merry may also be a good option for families with allergies. But what really makes her special is watching her slowly discover how wonderful life can be.   When Merriweather first arrived in foster care, she was completely shut down. She was quiet, cautious, and unsure of the world around her.   And then, little by little, the real Merri started to appear.   Now? She steals slippers. She climbs onto the couch. She plays fetch like a tiny professional athlete. She zooms after plush toys and proudly brings them back so the game can continue. She showers her foster mom with kisses every morning and curls herself up beside her on the sofa like she’s always belonged there.   Watching her confidence bloom has been pure magic.   Daily Life with Merriweather   Merri starts her mornings around 6:30am with a walk, followed by breakfast. She’s not hugely food motivated yet, though she appreciates a tasty topper and definitely keeps an eye out for people food opportunities whenever possible.   During the day, she loves being involved in whatever her person is doing. She’ll quietly follow along from room to room, observing new experiences with a cautious but curious little face. She isn’t overly clingy, but she genuinely likes being near her people and thrives on companionship.   While her foster is at work, Merriweather stays in a large crate for 6–8 hours and has adjusted impressively well to the routine. The first few days were hard for her, but she’s grown more comfortable and settled with consistency and patience.   At home, her day alternates between cozy naps and playful bursts of energy. She especially loves interactive play and would happily play fetch over and over if given the chance. It’s impossibly cute watching such a tiny dog proudly trot back with a toy in her mouth.   At night, she sleeps curled up on the bed and snoozes peacefully through the night without bathroom issues.   Personality   Merriweather is a sweet, sensitive little soul who is still learning that the world is safe. New people, loud sounds, unfamiliar dogs, and busy environments can still make her nervous, but every single day she grows a little braver.   At home, where she feels secure, her personality truly shines. She’s affectionate, playful, silly, and incredibly loving. She adores snuggling and will absolutely cover your face in kisses if you let her.   She also has a wonderfully balanced personality. She likes being close to her person and will happily follow you around the house, but she’s not demanding constant attention every second of the day. She’s equally happy lounging nearby, entertaining herself with toys for a bit, or curling up next to you for cuddles.   Walking and Training   Leash walking was clearly brand new to Merri when she arrived, but she has already made huge progress. She now walks multiple times a day and has gone from timidly trailing behind to confidently exploring ahead.   She still startles at loud noises and may weave a bit on walks, but she genuinely enjoys being outside and sniffing all the interesting smells along the way. She hasn’t shown much interest in squirrels or birds yet — the smells are far more exciting.   Merriweather is also doing wonderfully with housetraining. While she wasn’t fully trained when she first arrived, she now clearly understands that pottying happens outside and has done very well with routine and consistency. She also holds her bladder throughout the workday while crated, even with potty pads available.   She’s crate trained, uses dog stairs to climb onto the bed, and continues to impress everyone with how quickly she learns new routines.   Social Life   Merri has been politely indifferent toward most dogs she’s met off leash, generally preferring to quietly observe rather than jump into play. On leash, though, she can sometimes bark when she sees dogs from a distance or can’t approach them.   Because she’s still building confidence, her ideal home should understand that she may need time and patience when adjusting to new people and environments. She hasn’t met children yet, but based on her personality, a calmer home with respectful older kids would likely suit her best.   The Little Things That Make Her Special   There’s something incredibly touching about Merriweather’s journey. In less than a week, this timid little shelter puppy transformed into a playful, affectionate companion who now feels safe enough to play fetch, demand cuddles, and confidently steal slippers around the house.   Her foster’s favorite moment? Waking up in the morning to Merri gently licking her face hello.   Tiny, scruffy, sensitive, playful, cuddly — Merriweather is the kind of dog who sneaks into your heart slowly and then stays there forever.May 12, 2026, 10:20 am

All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption fee: $650 Meet Whatsit: the happiest girl in the rescue!   If happiness could be bottled up into one tiny dog, it would probably look a lot like Whatsit. This adorable 4–5 month old Chorkie first came to DPS with her three siblings, and after being adopted, she recently found herself back with the rescue through absolutely no fault of her own. Her adopter took wonderful care of her, and now we’re focused on finding the forever home that will love this little firecracker for life.   Personality   Whatsit is one of the happiest dogs we’ve ever met. She approaches every day — and every person — like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to her. The second you come to get her from her crate in the morning, she bursts into a tiny celebration: bouncing, spinning, running in happy little circles like she simply cannot contain her excitement that you exist.   She is a true Velcro dog in the very best way. Wherever you go, Whatsit would like to come too. If you sit down, she immediately finds a spot nearby — preferably in your lap, but she’s also perfectly content curled up at your feet if there’s no room. Her favorite thing in the world is simply being close to her people.   And while she’s deeply attached to humans, she’s also wonderfully easygoing. She doesn’t get upset when left alone, settles nicely in her pen if no one is home, and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate without complaint.   Daily Routine   Whatsit sleeps in her crate overnight and wakes up around 7:30 each morning. She’s never the puppy crying to be let out early, but the moment you arrive, the celebration begins. After breakfast and some backyard time to stretch her legs and zoom around, she comes inside to hang out with her people for the day.   If everyone has to leave, she does just fine relaxing in her pen. In the evenings, she transforms into a champion couch cuddler and happily snuggles up for TV time before bedtime around 10:00.   Play Style   Whatsit has the perfect mix of playful energy and cuddly sweetness. She loves zooming around the yard, chasing toys, and entertaining herself with joyful little bursts of puppy chaos. She especially loves visits from the neighbor kids, who come over often just to play with her. She greets every child with the same enthusiastic hop-and-spin routine she gives adults.   But once the excitement is over? She’s more than happy to crash for a long nap or curl up beside you on the couch.   Dogs, Cats, and Kids   Whatsit previously lived with another foster puppy and did wonderfully — playing, cuddling, and sleeping in puppy piles together. She would likely enjoy another playful dog but doesn’t seem to need one to be happy.   She has also been very respectful around the resident cat. While another foster puppy barked and fussed over him, Whatsit mostly observed quietly and quickly lost interest.   She absolutely adores kids and has done great with young children who regularly come by to visit her. She also charmed an 82-year-old neighbor during a birthday visit, which pretty much sums up her universal appeal.   Training   Whatsit is crate trained and comfortable in an exercise pen. She’s still working on housetraining but is making good progress with pee pads. She’s also just beginning leash training and currently treats walks more like a chance to perform her signature happy dance around your ankles.   She’s teething a bit but has been very polite about sticking to her toys instead of household items.   Her Perfect Home   Honestly? Whatsit may be one of the most adaptable puppies her fosters have ever fostered. She would thrive with an active family, a couple, a single person, kids, another dog, or even as the center of attention herself. What matters most to her is having people to love and a home where her joyful personality can shine.   Her happiness is contagious. Watching Whatsit bounce through life with endless enthusiasm makes it nearly impossible not to smile right along with her.May 12, 2026, 10:20 am

All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption fee: $650   Meet Gadget. And yes, the name fits perfectly. Because this tiny little Terrier-Chi mix truly seems equipped with every feature imaginable: • cuddle mode • zoomie mode • tiny explorer mode • emotional support sidekick mode • professional toy thief mode • and a very advanced “look at you with big puppy eyes until you forget your own name” mode At just 4-5 months old, Gadget is still very much a puppy, which means every day feels brand new and exciting to her. A crinkly toy? Incredible. A blanket fresh from the dryer? Life changing. You walking into the room after being gone for seventeen seconds? The greatest reunion in human history. Gadget is the kind of puppy people imagine when they think about getting a dog. The kind who falls asleep beside you while you watch TV. The kind who follows you into the kitchen because maybe snacks are happening. The kind who makes you laugh so hard you accidentally wake her up from a nap. The kind whose tiny face somehow becomes your entire camera roll within a week. She has this sweet, gentle way about her that makes people instantly protective of her. Even when she’s being mischievous, she somehow still feels innocent. Like when a toddler proudly hands you the thing they absolutely were not supposed to touch. And make no mistake: Gadget is hilarious. This little girl approaches life with the curiosity of a tiny scientist who accidentally drank espresso. She loves exploring. Climbing onto things she probably should not be climbing onto? One of her passions. Investigating mysterious household sounds? Vital business. Carrying random objects around the room like she’s handling very important assignments? Also essential. Her foster says she’s the princess of the household, and honestly… accurate. Gadget absolutely knows how cute she is. She has mastered the art of politely demanding attention while pretending she had nothing to do with it. She’ll look at you with those big eyes like, “Oh wow, are you petting me again? That’s crazy. Definitely continue.” And when playtime is over? She transforms into an Olympic level snuggler. Few things in life are as healing as a sleepy puppy curling into your arms like she’s known you forever. That’s Gadget. She’s playful without being wild, affectionate without being overwhelming, and sweet in a way that sneaks up on you. She may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once she decides you’re safe, she loves with her whole tiny heart. She’s also incredibly smart. Gadget already knows “sit” and “wait,” is fully potty-pad trained, and is learning quickly every single day. She’s the kind of puppy who wants to understand her people and be part of the team. And while she’s still young, you can already see what an amazing dog she’s becoming. A best friend for coffee mornings. A couch buddy for movie nights. A tiny shadow trotting behind you through the house. The dog waiting excitedly at the door when you come home from work. The one people ask about when they see photos because “that puppy is ADORABLE.” Honestly, Gadget feels less like “just a puppy” and more like finding a missing piece of joy you didn’t realize your life was missing. Somewhere out there is the person who is going to pick her up for the first time, feel her melt into their arms, and immediately think: “Oh. There you are.” And if that person misses out on Gadget? They’re probably going to spend the next several months seeing tiny puppies on social media and whispering, “She kind of reminds me of that one puppy… what was her name again?” Gadget. Exactly.
