JULY 2025: Luke is a sweet quiet boy who will join in if other pack members start being vocal! He is friendly, but responds fearfully if fast hands grab at him—so we are recommending a household with NO SMALL CHILDREN or anyone who has an aggressive controlling attitude. Luke likes to hang out outside in nice weather or when other pack members are playing with toys (he will join in!). Inside he likes to hang out in his bed under a bookcase or below the raised footrest of a recliner. At night Luke likes to climb doggie steps up to his human’s mattress and sleeps quietly through the night. LUKE is trained to use wee pads to do his business or a dog door to access an enclosed patio or safely fenced yard. He is not a digger so won’t destroy flower beds. He WILL dart out an open door or gate to take himself for a walk, so again, recommending a childless, totally dog-aware household. NOV 2025: Sweet boy’s family was unable to include him in their move so he’s availlable to interview new prospective homes; Buster would prefer a quiet environment with a safely fenced front yard porch or patio for enjoying mild sunshine and fresh air when he isn’t napping in his snuggle bed; I’m like a lot of your keys. Buster is content too sleep in the front room or large crate rather than joining his people on their bed at night however, if he were the only hound in the house that might change. Buster’s crate door is always open so he can use the nearby wee pad or dog door to access the yard spaces; At present he prefers his meals to be delivered to his crate rather than eating with the Rescue Pack in the kitchen, but he will venture out for a tasty treat when something is being distributed. BUSTER has a beautiful straight spine, but X-rays have revealed 4 vertebrae in the center with very thin padding between them which causes occasional back pain, currently controlled with inexpensive anti-inflammatory meds included with his meals. This little dog is at least 12 years old - he was found wandering the streets looking for a warm home and a meal. He was severely matted and very thin on intake on 11/30. He is off of stray wait on December 4th. He is very hard of hearing, and we suspect he does have some vision. He has no teeth left, we suspect they all fell out, leaving 2 very large oronasal fistulas (open communication between mouth and nose) - he is very thin but is ravenously hungry, he needs wet food only and some assistance with eating. As of 12/10/25 he has gained 1 lb in shelter with soft feeding. He graciously allowed us to shave out all of his horrible matts. The medical team has attempted repair of his large, extensive oronasal fistulas on 12/5/25. As of recheck on 12/10/25, one has re-opened (R maxillary canine site), another fistula repair flap is still holding at the L maxillary premolar area. Definitive repair at these sites may require surgery with an maxillofacial surgeon given extensive size. If an adopter or rescuer does not seek repair, pt is at risk of chronic rhinitis (nose inflammation) or aspiration (if food or water enter nasal cavity through fistulas).
