JULY 2025: Luke is a sweet quiet boy who will join in if other pack members start being vocal! He is friendly, but responds fearfully if fast hands grab at him—so we are recommending a household with NO SMALL CHILDREN or anyone who has an aggressive controlling attitude. Luke likes to hang out outside in nice weather or when other pack members are playing with toys (he will join in!). Inside he likes to hang out in his bed under a bookcase or below the raised footrest of a recliner. At night Luke likes to climb doggie steps up to his human’s mattress and sleeps quietly through the night. LUKE is trained to use wee pads to do his business or a dog door to access an enclosed patio or safely fenced yard. He is not a digger so won’t destroy flower beds. He WILL dart out an open door or gate to take himself for a walk, so again, recommending a childless, totally dog-aware household. NOV 2025: Sweet boy’s family was unable to include him in their move so he’s availlable to interview new prospective homes; Buster would prefer a quiet environment with a safely fenced front yard porch or patio for enjoying mild sunshine and fresh air when he isn’t napping in his snuggle bed; I’m like a lot of your keys. Buster is content too sleep in the front room or large crate rather than joining his people on their bed at night however, if he were the only hound in the house that might change. Buster’s crate door is always open so he can use the nearby wee pad or dog door to access the yard spaces; At present he prefers his meals to be delivered to his crate rather than eating with the Rescue Pack in the kitchen, but he will venture out for a tasty treat when something is being distributed. BUSTER has a beautiful straight spine, but X-rays have revealed 4 vertebrae in the center with very thin padding between them which causes occasional back pain, currently controlled with inexpensive anti-inflammatory meds included with his meals. Story

Looks like: Yorkshire Terrier Male, 10 years old (estimated), 10 pounds Meet Casper, the friendly pup! This senior lad is full of energy and loves to play with toys. He is a joyful guy with a big heart who is happy to tag along wherever you go. Sadly, Casper was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. Without treatment his prognosis is only a few months to live. We are choosing to give him the best change possible so he is undergoing cancer treatment at a specialist in the Monterey area. Based on his energy and enthusiasm, you would never know he is fighting a serious illness! If his adopters are willing to continue bringing him to treatment appointments in Monterey post-adoption, POMDR will cover the cost of his treatment (approx. 288 days). While Casper is very friendly and affiliative, he is working on resource guarding from both people and other dogs. While he does well with his foster pup sibling, we think he would also love to be an only dog where he doesn't have to share his toys. Casper does great around cats. He is looking for a forever home where he can float right into your heart (and toy bin). Handsome Casper joined us from the Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire. He was brought in as a stray. Due to his senior status, they felt he would do best in a senior focused rescue.
