Story
We started caring for Coco when our relative owner became ill. We are now looking for a good home for him. He has 4 foster siblings that we are also caring for. The others that you will find on this site are Princess, Marco and Leo. We want to rehome them in pairs. Coco is yorkshire terrier breed, energetic, toy size (about 6 to 7 lbs.), indoor dog and about 7 years old. His rabies vaccine is current. Coco is neutered. Coco gets along well with his foster siblings. He may be best adopted with Princess who you will find in another profile. Coco loves attention. He likes to have his chest rubbed. He gets very excited when getting ready to go out for a walk. Coco pees and poos on a pad indoors, in the back yard, or during walks. Coco needs dental work that adopter will need to pay for. Prospective adopter agrees to keep him in the house, except for supervised outings, and agrees to send to us photos of Coco. Return him to us if unable to care for him.

Story
We started caring for Leo when our relative owner passed. He has 4 foster siblings that we are also caring for. The others that you will find on this site are Princess, Coco and Marco. We want to rehome them in pairs. Leo is yorkshire, honey and gold fur, likes to chill but does have energy, toy size (about 4 lbs.), indoor dog and about 8 years old. He has been neutered and his rabies vaccine is current. He gets along well with his foster siblings. He may be best adopted with Marco who you will find in another profile. They often sleep in the same bed. Leo loves attention. He does not like to walk and is content to stay at home, inside. Leo pees and poos on a pad indoors or in the back yard. Leo always barks at cats. Leo needs dental work that adopter will need to pay for. Prospective adopter agrees to keep him in the house, except for supervised outings, and agrees to send photos of Leo. Return him to us if unable to care for him.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, February 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.     Adoption Fee: $650  *Spaghetti is an option for FTA!* Spaghetti is a 2 year old Yorkie x Chihuahua (Chorkie) mix who is twirling up forkfuls of cuteness for his forever home! Spaghetti was rescued from the shelter with a few of his culinary companions. We took one look at his puppy dog eyes and knew this little man had to come with us. Spaghetti hit the scene and our lives haven’t been the same since! This little man weighs 11 pounds and we promise at least 20% of that is his big Dumbo ears! Come and order up a delicious plate of Spaghetti today!       Spaghetti is a handsome little gentleman who is ready to take the world by storm with his humans at his side! He is totally Mr. Personality and boy does he know how to work those puppy dog eyes to get all the treats he could ever want! It also doesn’t help that he has adorable Dumbo ears and a multicolored little wet nose that is constantly wiggling with excitement. Spaghetti also loves his playtime, and he has an ever-growing collection of plush toys he would love to continue in his forever home. Another collection he has? His bowties! He is a total dapper dan! He’s always down for an adventure even though he has little legs. Don’t let that fool you: he can hop up and down the trails and local landmarks with the big dogs! At the end of the day, when Spaghetti has gotten his fill of excitement, he is ready to curl up in a ball under your blankets and snooze the night away. He’s basically a perfect pup in a portable little body, so he will be able to join you on trips to the coffee shop for pup cups or on holidays where you spoil him like he deserves!  Spaghetti wakes up around 7 AM and heads out on a morning walk before everyone starts getting ready for the day. He eats breakfast before he settles in to play with his toys for a few hours. He naps for the rest of the morning until he heads into the yard to stretch his legs at lunchtime. Once everyone comes home from work, he heads out on another walk before enjoying dinner around 6 PM. In the evening, he hangs out on the couch getting all the cuddles until he heads off to bed.  Spaghetti has previously lived with dogs of varying ages and sizes. He loves his canine pals and would be a fabulous companion pup. Spaghetti can make even the strongest #TeamCat voice move over to the dog side with his effortless charm and personality. He is house trained and crate trained. The total package! If you’re ready for a gourmet addition to your family, adopt Spaghetti!      Spaghetti is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.February 10, 2025, 5:41 pm

Gnocchi was rescued with her two senior Yorkie gentleman pals in desperate need of some serious TLC. Life hadn’t been kind to Gnocchi but we promised to get her the grooming makeover she needed and whisked her off to the salon! Gnocchi weighs 7 pounds and she is just the most petite little princess! She has a non-shedding coat that makes her an option for those with allergies. Come order a delicious plate of Gnocchi today!    Gnocchi has shown us that you CAN teach an older gal new tricks as she has started to bloom. She is cuddly and loves her sweaters. She has started to play and has amazing dance moves. She loves her soft beds and couch spots, snuggling the hours away with her foster mom on the couch. Gnocchi is the perfect mix of playful and laid back but she prefers hibernating over frollicking in the cold winter air. While we do not know much about Gnocchi’s life before rescue, we know that her forever family will need to be patient and loving as she gets comfortable. Almost everything was new for Gnocchi once we rescued her, but she’s quickly gotten the hang of her new amazing life  Once she decides you are her humans, however, she will be your faithful friend for the rest of your life. She would love to find matching sweaters and join you on trips to the coffee shop or dog friendly brewery. Basically, as long as you promise to show her all the finest things in life, Gnocchi will dance for joy in your lap!  Gnocchi lives the luxurious life of a golden gal, as she should! She wakes up at a leisurely time of between 8-9 AM before she enjoys some snuggles with her breakfast. During the day, Gnocchi spends her time lounging on soft blankets, exploring her enclosed backyard, or online shopping to expand her sweater collection. She loves her naps and is always down for a cuddle. In the late evening, Gnocchi goes on a short stroll before she has dinner. She spends the rest of her evening cuddled on the couch until she is ready for bed. Gnocchi has previously lived with other dogs of all sizes. Due to her small size, she would prefer an adult-only home. Gnocchi will require regular grooming to ensure she stays looking fabulous. If you’ve been looking for a delicious lapful of pasta, come and meet Miss Gnocchi!   Gnocchi is only an option for homes with experience owning dogs. Adults only homes for Gnocchi! February 7, 2025, 6:15 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.     Adoption Fee: $750   Meet Chickpea! Chickpea is a 4-5 year old Yorkie mix who may be tiny, but she’s packed with personality! This little legume was scooped up from an overcrowded shelter, and we knew right away she was too special to sit on the shelf. Now, she's looking for her forever humans who will cherish her like the rare and precious ingredient she is!   At just 7.9 pounds (mostly fluff and pure royalty), Chickpea is the perfect size to tuck under your arm and parade around like the princess she was born to be. With her dashing little mustache and perky ears, she turns heads wherever she struts. But don’t be fooled by her dainty appearance—she’s got a playful, zoomie-loving side that comes out when she’s feeling extra joyful.   A Day in the Life of Chickpea Chickpea starts her morning around 7 AM, waiting oh-so-patiently in her bed at the foot of her foster’s bed until her human is ready to begin their daily duties (serving her, of course). After a brisk morning stroll, she enjoys a well-earned breakfast before settling in for a day of snoozing in her foster mom's bedroom while she is at work. Evenings are for leisurely walks, dinner at 6 PM sharp, and then more lounging (she takes her relaxation very seriously). At night, she tucks herself into her own bed, dreaming of treats, adventures, and her future humans who will adore her forever.   Chickpea’s Vibe If you're looking for a cuddle connoisseur, Chickpea is your girl! She’s mellow, affectionate, and always down for a snuggle. She adores her humans (whom she considers her personal attendants) and enjoys being doted on, preferably while wrapped in a fabulous outfit. Chickpea may be a couch potato most of the time, but don’t be fooled—she has her zoomie moments!   Chickpea is well-mannered with other calm dogs and does fine with respectful older kids, though she’d prefer a home without little ones, who can be very overwhelming for this tiny princess. She’s a dream on the leash and stays close to her people, always ready to be admired by passing fans. She’s mostly potty trained, though she’s had a couple of minor accidents when adjusting to a new routine. Once in sync with her human’s schedule, she does great!   While she’s confident in her home, Chickpea can be shy and tentative in unfamiliar environments, sometimes shaking when she’s unsure. But with patience and reassurance, she quickly builds her confidence and settles in.   The Perfect Home for Chickpea Chickpea is an excellent option for any home with some level of dog experience. Kids should be 7+ and understand that this tiny queen demands gentle handling. If you're ready for a little shadow who will love you endlessly (as long as the treats keep coming), Chickpea is ready to claim her throne in your heart!    February 11, 2025, 1:51 am

Story
WEIGHT: 11lbs Meet Jacksen— Now we know what you`re thinking. What is a cute little dog like Jacksen doing in a place like this? Well, Jacksen came to us as an Owner Surrender after a couple of good-sams found him roaming around and took him in. Unfortunately, Jacksen was not interested in sharing space with their other dog, so they made the decision to bring him in. For that reason, Jacksen is looking to be an only dog. He also has a couple of medical things going on, relating to his general anxiety level, but nothing unmanageable for the right person. So, if you`re looking for a little dog to be your one and only, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
