Agnes is a very pretty, rather petite Pitbull who had a terrible life before she was rescued and taken to Chicago Animal Control. Once joining BAARK Dog Rescue, her life changed for the better; she would never suffer any abuse or neglect again. Agnes had been seen for several weeks, living in a junkyard, finding shelter under a porch and among the junk. Every once in a while she got out of the fenced area to scavenge the neighborhood for food, only to have kids throw rocks and bottles at her and try to hurt her. She was scared, alone, and starving. It took a couple of caring, compassionate rescuers a couple of weeks to capture her. She was brought to Chicago Animal Control, still very scared and totally withdrawn. We are grateful we at BAARK learned of Agnes and have been able to help her overcome such past neglect, abuse, and fear, and she’s now ready to move along to her forever home. Agnes is estimated to be 6 years old. She weighs 39 lbs. An ideal home for Agnes is with a family having Pitbull breed experience, able to provide Agnes the attention, care, and compassion she deserves, without her having to share it with other canine family members. That is, she’d do best as an only dog. She is not good with cats. Agnes would love a nice, safe and secure back yard of her own. A solid, verifiable vet history for all current and past pets is required for all adopters of BAARK Dogs. Say hello to Gigi! This adorable peach is bursting with love for people and isn't shy about showing it. With her perfect mix of snuggles and sass, she's ready to bring her special brand of enthusiasm to your home! What is this girls back story, you might ask? How did she end up in our care? Gigi came from the B ellwood area. She was forgotten, abandoned and left behind by a previous owner, unclaimed and unnamed. Left in a poorly funded animal control where she slowly lost her mind due to kennel stress, lack of natural sunlight and limited to only an hour or so of time out of her enclosure daily. These kennels although run by loving individuals were kept in an area with no windows, surrounded by 4 cold concrete walls. Gigi had a guardian angel that saw a sparkle in her eye and thus she made her way to redemption road. Here she started her journey towards a better story. Months have gone by and Gigi is thriving, such resiliency is remarkable. She is more than ready to be a part of an active household that can match her energy and provide consistent training. While she's definitely the "queen of the castle" type, she gets along wonderfully with more laid-back dogs who don't mind her being the boss, preferably males. She has made a few friends during her foster experience which only adds enrichment to her spirit. Gigi has seen some tough and rough days, but her spirit is strong and she is ready to be someone cuddle bug. The sunrise to your sunset, the peanut butter to your jelly, this girl could be all that and more. This spunky lady would do best with older, sturdier kids: ages 13 and older who can handle her boisterous play style. And quick note: Gigi has officially declared cats not on her friend list! Brucie is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive brindle coat. We estimate Brucie’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Brucie loves people and is very affectionate. Given his size and energy level, he would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Brucie! Brucie is very active and energetic, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained; he would not do well in a dog park or day care. An ideal home for Brucie is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. Brucie’s only “watch-out” is that he can be a bit of a resource guarder with his food and bones, but this issue can readily be managed as he gets to know his new family and as they learn more about him!! As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Brucie would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Brucie has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves.
