Story
Say hello to Dolly, an active 55 lb. 1½ year old beauty. Dolly is a stray from the overcrowded Merced shelter looking for a place to belong and call home. Like her namesake, Dolly has a beautiful multicolored coat that has minimal shedding. Dolly loves attention and hangs close to her foster dad. It takes her a little time to warm up to strangers, however once trust is gained, she is playful and affectionate. Her recall off leash is excellent. She would make a great running or hiking companion. Dolly loves other dogs, playing until she drops with the resident dog in her foster home. Dolly’s house manners are excellent. She uses a dog door and knows her basic commands (come, sit, stay, etc…). She will need someone willing to work with her to advance her training, but she is willing to please and learns quickly. Dolly walks well on leash, sleeps quietly in her crate at night (although her preferred location would be on her foster parents’ bed) and rides well in the car. She has a very soft mouth and takes her treats gently. Dolly would probably do well with children, but has not been tested. She loves her toys, especially a kong and antler. She displayed no desire to interact with the cats at the shelter and does not chase the cottontail bunnies in the yard. The adoption fee is $350. All Lucky Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, treated to make sure they are flea free, are current on vaccines, and dewormed. A home inspection is required prior to adoption. If you would like more information, email Dolly’s foster parents, Steve and Sue, at dogs@s2springer.com. If you decide to e-mail, please tell us a bit about the home that you would provide for her.

Seven-year-old Tucker is a sweet, sensitive boy with a soft heart. He is a bashful guy, but patient guardians will discover that, once earned, his gentle love and affection are second to none! Due to Tucker's very shy demeanor, we are considering him to be special needs. Tucker is a wonderful little lad who will benefit from a steady, predictable daily routine and low-key home atmosphere to help him become the perfect companion. Story
Ellie is a staff favorite! Since Ellie is so loved her adoption fee has been sponsored and she is eligible for a trial adoption. A post adoption training scholarship is also available so that she can show you how smart she is at learning new things.Roger Cara's once said that "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole". This is exactly what Ellie does. Whether it's been 1 day, 1 hour or 15 minutes Ellie will greet you like she hasn't seen you in 10 years and pours her whole body and heart into your waiting arms. Like all the good things that you wished would never end, time has no meaning to Ellie. Ellie's favorite morning routine is pretending that she is a racehorse coming hot out of the gates and striving to be number 1. After a few laps around the track, she likes to stop for belly rubs and kisses on the head. Rolling around in the grass and chasing squirrel friends is another favorite. What Ellie loves most on these walks is to be sung to. Her favorite song is "you are my sunshine". She doesn't care if you hit the right notes or can carry a tune, she just wants you to be near her giving her all the love that she gives right back. Singing to Ellie is not a requirement for her adoption. Ellie is a dignified lady who prefers the company of dogs her own size and age, and she is not a huge fan of her feline counterparts. Her best friend at the shelter is Buddy. When they go for walks together they become the dynamic superhero duo"Bellie". On these walks Buddy helps Ellie become the best version of herself by helping her to stay grounded around new dogs she hasn't met yet. If you are looking for that missing piece of a puzzle, a friendship that will never fade, and a constant companion than Ellie is your girl. Ellie gets along with every person she meets, but will only have love eyes for you. My care has been sponsored by Nao Murakami!! Story
I'm a staff favorite! My adoption fee is sponsored by the new parents of Callie (Amelia Lara) because they want me to go home too! Lady is part of our Diamond in the Ruff program and needs an appointment to be seen. Ready to meet her? Schedule an appointmentHello, hello, hello! My name is Lady and contrary to my name, I'm ready to play and run around all day! I'm still trying to figure out this big, scary world and actively searching for my furever home and family. I'm pretty shy while exploring new places and meeting new people, but with yummy treats and plenty of reassurance, I warm up quickly. I'll do my best in an adult home with a backyard where my family can help me learn about and explore the world. Once I get to know someone, I'm quick to wiggle my butt and jump for joy. People at HSSV tell me I look and act like a herding breed mix, which explains why I'm always on the go!I'm still learning my manners and do like other dogs, but sometimes I can be a bit much. I'd love it if you already had a social, outgoing, playful doggy at home. Maybe we could become best friends and romp around in a big, secure backyard? My favorite activity is going out for walks but, sometimes fast cars, or even passing people scare and startle me. If I had to describe my dream home, there would be a yard, a doggy friend, and a loving person or two who I can bond and spend time with.
