Story
Meet Ruco Ruco was a rehome from craigslist about 7 years ago and is now an 8-year-old Australian Cattle Dog seeking a calm, experienced home where he can finally feel safe and settled. I travel too much for work now and cant be around enough. He is not a beginner dog, but for the right person he offers deep loyalty, intense bonding, and constant companionship. Ruco is intelligent, highly food-motivated, and eager to engage with his person. His favorite activity is playing fetch, and daily ball time is essential to his happiness and mental well-being. Ruco thrives with routine, clear expectations, and a confident yet gentle handler. Due to past instability, he can be anxious and reactive in certain situations and needs patience, structure, and thoughtful management. He does best as an only pet in an adult-only, low-traffic home with someone familiar with herding breeds, ideally home often. In return, Ruco will be a devoted shadow, loyal protector, and deeply committed companion.

Story
Meet Kismet – A Resilient and Loving Companion Looking for Her Forever Home Kismet is a stunning 1-2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a heart as big as her beautiful personality. She also happens to be deaf, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit! This sweet girl found herself in a crowded Central Valley shelter, on the verge of giving birth. Perhaps being deaf was a small blessing in such a loud and overwhelming place—but it was still a frightening experience for her. Thankfully, Lucky Dog Rescue stepped in, and Kismet was whisked away to a loving foster home where she could safely raise her newborn puppies. Kismet was a wonderful, devoted mom, and now that all her puppies have found their forever homes, it’s finally her turn. Kismet is great with other dogs. She enjoys playing with the younger dogs in her foster home and is respectful of the senior dog. She’s housebroken, has mastered the dog door, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Like many young dogs, she can be a bit mischievous—she’s been known to chew on things she shouldn’t—but she’s learning to redirect her energy toward appropriate chew toys. On leash, Kismet walks well but can be a little cautious in new environments. She’s shy when meeting new people and needs time to warm up, but with patience and kindness, she blossoms into a loving, affectionate companion. Once she trusts you, she’ll shower you with cuddles—yes, Kismet is a snuggler! Highly food-motivated, Kismet knows “sit” and is learning additional hand-signal commands. With continued training and love, she’ll thrive in a patient and understanding home. Are you the one who will give Kismet the forever home she deserves? Story
Cowboy was rescued from the side of the road in a suspected dumping situation. He was sweet but cautious and there was evidence he had been tied to a wire fence with a rope that he had chewed through. Cowboy was able to be picked up and carried to the car where he rode anxiously to a vet to get him checked for a microchip. With no microchip found, lab tests were done to check his health. He had no issues come up, his age is estimate 1-3 years old, he is unneutered and around 33 lbs. Cowboy then went to a ranch in Lafayette for fostering and possibly as a forever home. Unfortunately, his high prey drive toward small livestock led to the ranch being a poor fit so Cowboy is looking for a new home. He is very sweet, so far good with people, dogs and children. He has no shots yet. Cowboy would do well in a home alone or only with dogs. Due to being dumped he is still nervous and will take time to adjust, but he would make a great addition to any family.

Story
Penny-She was found left behind with her leash attached to the front gate of the local shelter. Once a shy and anxious dog, now thrives thanks to her routine of daily walks, cuddles and delicious meals. She has been an inside dog but is not crate trained. She knows a few basic commands like: sit, down, come, food, treat. She is potty trained to go outside. She could use additional training and animal socialization. She’s a strong leash puller and is triggered by most small animals. She is also selective with people. Building and maintaining a relationship with Penny will require patience and possibly behavioral therapy. She is also triggered by people on bikes/scooters. We as a foster home did not use training methods that require pronged collars, e-collars or anything that would possibly harm Penny both physically and psychologically. Penny would love a home where she can be someone’s center of attention. Pit/Cattle mix - 3.5 yrs. - 48lbs - Spayed In-foster care now

Story
Roto is a sweet, loving dog who needs a patient and caring home. I rescued him as a 4 month old in April 2025. He’s currently recovering from a medical condition affecting his mobility and will need gentle support, love, and care to regain strength. Roto is affectionate, calm, and loyal.. he loves attention and cuddles. Due to life circumstances, I’m looking for a safe, nurturing home where he can heal fully and thrive. The ideal person will be patient, kind, and committed to helping Roto get the medical attention and daily care he needs. He deserves a loving family who understands his journey and will celebrate every small victory with him.

Story
Adopt Cedar This Handsome boy has been looking for a home for quite sometime. He was rescued at just 4 months old back in April 2024. All of his siblings found loving homes already. Cedar took some time to open up but Cedar loves the outdoors now! He is shy but playful, great with other pups, curious, and smart (taught himself the dog door on his own), food motivated which is a bonus for training! He’s crate trained, potty trained and just a stunning hound mix who was kill-listed and a true survivor! Cedar is ready for patience and love. He sleeps through the night and is learning to trust humans more and more everyday. Originally he is from the Coachella Valley, Animal Shelter and saved on Easter Sunday. ?We are very thankful for everyone that has helped all the siblings! ? With a total of eight fearful puppies who had nowhere to go. Now they have all one by one come out of their shells at their own time. We would love for Cedar to find a home where he could relax and decompress. These puppies definitely needed love and patience, and they are opening up a little by little. Cedar is one and a half years old and most likely a cattle mix dog who is, great at running and loves dogs! He is located in San Diego California.September 2, 2025, 8:41 am
