Notes from Bridgette`s foster:&#10 &#10Bridgette is an excellent house guest, she is house broken and quiet.&#10 &#10She loves going on walks. She currently walks 3 miles a day which is helping her with her new year resolution of shedding a few pounds.&#10 &#10Despite being 10 years old, Bridgette is still pretty spry and is hoping to find a nice family to share adventures with.

Story
Merle is a shy but sweet young cattle dog mix. It takes him some time to acclimate to new people but once comfortable he`s friendly and playful. He`s also a great size if you seek a pup that is neither big nor `toy.` He weighs about 35 pounds. This gentle guy is easy to harness for walks. Outside, he`s tentative, giving rain puddles a wide berth, comically peering around hedges, and preferring to mosey along sniffing and exploring at a leisurely pace. If you`ve been looking for a handsome Australian mix, come meet Merle at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS), 1590 Fortmann Way, in Alameda, Calif., open every afternoon from noon to 4PM except Mondays. You can get started on an adoption by visiting alamedaanimalshelter.org and filling out an application. Questions? Call 510-337-8565.

Story
As a puppy, Harry was found with his siblings roaming around Oakland. They were taken in by a shelter and treated for Parvo. However, as Parvo is highly contagious, Harry didn’t socialize with other dogs as a puppy and has become very afraid of other dogs. The Good: Harry is SUCH a good boy. He’s loving, attentive, and loyal. He loves affection and loves showing it. The Bad: Harry lunges for and, if off leash, will run towards and attack other dogs. With the help of a trainer, we are able to go on neighborhood walks where we diligently avoid other dogs. Harry has never significantly harmed another dog or human (i.e. nips and scratches only). He does not attack with an intent to harm, but as a reflex from his fear. I’m a single working professional who lives in an apartment. Because we’re not able to go to dog parks, Harry only gets outside time on walks and the occasional outside fetch. He deserves a chance to run around, explore and bathe in the sun as he enters older age.

Story
Tippy enjoys sun bathing in redwood city foster home. she was rescued after hit by car, received surgery and thoroughly rehabbed. from vet estimate, she could be 5 years old or more. she is around 30 lb, spayed, all shots, looking for a loving home. she is house trained and ideal for human who needs a quiet companion. best if there is no other dog or cat as her current foster home doesn't have other pet. tippy would be good to keep someone company who lives a quiet life. she is quiet at home and easy to take care of by a kind hearted person with a routine. All dogs are fostered in private homes, there is no facility open to public. Home visit would be arranged for matched application. We encourage everyone to visit public shelters, and save another dog's life.

Story
Max was rescued from a shelter and he has been an amazing dog! Unfortunately, due to a job promotion, I am forced to be away from home majority of the day (anywhere from 8-12 hours) and I cannot provide love and attention he deserves. He is house trained in the way that he does not cause any damage or go to the bathroom inside. He is loyal and stays by your side even when walking and will not run off where off the leash. He is great around people and kids and has not shown any aggression to anyone. Overall he’s a great dog and deserves more than what I am providing. Please let me know if you would like to welcome Max into your home and life! Thank you

Story
Think you and Tulip might be a match made in heaven, but you want to do a trial run at home first? You can foster Tulip for one week and if things don't work out, you can always bring them back to us (but we hope that's not the case). Are you looking for fresh flowers? Look no further than the underbite queen herself - Tulip! Tulip recently went out on a little staycation with a volunteer to learn more about her habits in a home setting. We are pleased to share that fabulous Miss Tulip did fantastic in her home! Tulip may take time to bloom, her Foster reported 4 days to feel comfy, but once she does, she is a lover (especially with face kisses, and full body cuddles) and while sensitive to loud noises was very food motivated and able to be lured away! Look at her go!Tulip also got to try her hand at loose leash walking (that's fancy speak for not pulling) and her Foster reported great improvement: "by the end of the week, especially the last few days, all of their walks were with a calm loose leash and of course lots of sniffing and exploring."She was said to be a patient co-pilot and although she wasn't the most avid adventurer she was learning. Her exploration of the loud city also got bolder and with slow introductions, lots of treats and taking it at quieter times she was improving in only her short vacation from the shelter. She was also learning to pass other dogs on the street but would still prefer to be the only dog in the home! If you want your own staycation (but forever!) come on in too meet Tulip today!
