Story
We got Bucky (Rusty at the time) from the Milo Foundation in Richmond CA. Bucky was originally at the Bakersfield SPCA, no information on how he ended up there but we’re guessing he was a puppy of some farm dogs and got abandoned as a puppy, by the time he got to us he was about 6 months old, very shy and timid towards new things but also incredibly friendly and loving towards people. He’s currently about 3.5 months old (DOB Nov 2022). He’s a very loving and affectionate dog and loves to be with people. He is also very protective and makes a great guard dog. He gets along well with other dogs and we often take him to the dog park and to restaurants. Our main reason for rehoming him is we have a small home and we currently have an 18 month old who loves to run around. Bucky and our other dog Sassy love to play rough and we’re concerned that their rough play could injure our son. He also does have a bit of reactivity to new people so we’re concerned about future toddler play dates.

Her foster says Paloma is a playful bundle of joy with a tail that never stops wagging. A quick learner, she's crate and potty trained. She's mastering leash skills and enjoys going on pack walks with her giant dog foster siblings. Always up for adventures, Paloma loves going for car rides and gets excited as soon as she sees her harness.  Paloma is in search of a forever home with at least one other playful dog. She'll do best in a quiet neighborhood as busy places can be overwhelming. A high-energy, intelligent working breed mix, Paloma will thrive with regular exercise and mental stimulation. Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereAt 5 years old and 51 pounds, this cattle dog/husky mix is a refreshing surprise. Instead of high-octane energy, Magdelena brings a peaceful presence wherever she goes. She walks beautifully on leash, no pulling, no fuss. She’s wonderfully polite in public, neutral around other dogs, and has charmed everyone from busy adoption event crowds to TV studio staff with her steady, composed demeanor. In her temporary foster home, she’s been easygoing and adaptable. She’s the kind of dog who’s just as happy strolling the neighborhood as she is lounging by your side. While she may be a little aloof at first, she has a soulful way of connecting with her people and will shadow you around the house. She’s incredibly gentle and loves scritches. She’s currently recovering from a treatable UTI, which may be affecting her potty routine, but she’s already showing good instincts like signaling when she needs to go out. Magdelena could thrive as a solo dog or with a respectful canine companion who appreciates her space. Whether you’re a peaceful homebody or someone who enjoys chill adventures, Magdelena is waiting to meet you. Story
Meet Boston! Boston is a cattle dog (mix) puppy, and he’s looking for a home that truly understands what that means. Cattle dogs are incredibly smart, driven, and active—they are not easy, low-key companions and are not a fit for every home. Boston will need significant daily exercise, structure, and ongoing training. This is a breed that thrives when given a job, consistency, and clear leadership. Without that, they will create their own outlets, which can include herding behaviors, nipping, and high-intensity energy. He is a puppy, which means he’s still learning everything—house training, manners, and how to appropriately channel his instincts. His adopter should be prepared for the time and commitment that comes with raising a working-breed dog. Boston would do best with an active adopter who has experience with herding breeds or is ready to fully commit to learning and meeting his needs. He is not a “take him for a walk and call it a day” kind of dog. In the right home, Boston has the potential to be an incredibly loyal, fun, and impressive companion—but he will require the time, energy, and dedication to get him there. Estimated adult weight is 50 pounds, no guarantees.

Learn more hereGlowy is a 3-year-old, 72-pound heeler/pittie mix who’s ready to explore the world by your side. True to her name, this darling is getting glowing reviews from her foster home. Glowy is very well behaved and gentle, nothing seems to bother this sweet girl. She rarely barks, can be left home alone without issues, and has an incredibly relaxed temperament. She's potty trained, already knows sit and paw, takes treats gently, and has excellent manners. While she can be a little jumpy when excited, she also has a sweet, mild disposition and likes being close to her people. She loves climbing into laps to investigate the treat supply! In shelter playgroups, Glowy enjoyed gentle chase-style play with other dogs. She could live with a well-matched canine friend or be happy as a solo dog with dog buddies. If you’re looking for a sweetheart to share adventures, Glowy might be your match. Story
ARES is a medium-energy 3 year-old cattle dog mix. (Relaxed indoors, energetic outdoors.) He bonds really deeply with his person/family, and is the best cuddle companion. He's smart, well-trained and loves to learn. He's 65 pounds, up-to-date on vaccines and is healthy. He's strong so he would do best in a family that has experience with dogs---or one that has a backyard where he can get exercise off-leash. He has strong prey drive, so he shouldn't live with cats. Watch him on YouTube: https://youtube.com/shorts/wxvKltDrFxc?feature=share Come meet this handsome, goofy pup in person--he may be just the forever friend you're searching for.
