Story
Spark came to us from a rescue as a puppy and has been with us almost 3 years. He's loyal, gentle, sensitive and protective — cat-like, really. House-trained, doesn't chew, knows basic commands, and just wants to be near his people. He's fearful of other dogs and strangers and can react on leash, but introducing him to new people is easy with our simple routine — it's worked every time, even at a party with 15+ guests, and within 15-20 minutes he's usually playing with them. Once you're "his," he's a big cuddly puppy. He trained with RFRD Academy (San Jose) for 4 months recently to help with his obedience and leash walks. He has been wonderful with our children, but after a single incident with our daughter we've decided we can't take any risk with young kids, so he needs an adult-only home. We'll share every detail openly with anyone serious. If you're interested, please reach out — we're happy to send videos, answer any questions, and arrange a meeting so you can get to know him.

Story
Orange, spayed female, 2.5 years old, 32-lbs If you would like to give ORANGE a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application About Orange: No one knows the reason why Orange was sent to the shelter. She always stays very quietly in her kennel, never barking mindlessly or picking fights with other dogs. Whenever a volunteer takes her out of the kennel, she always comes out happily, joyfully following them wherever they go. Sometimes, she will excitedly roll over onto her back inviting people to rub her belly. She is the most highly praised, well-behaved sweetie in the entire shelter! It is precisely because of her wonderful personality that it’s impossible not to notice her. Orange has a very stable temperament, yet she is incredibly affectionate. She will follow commands for just about any treat, making her very easy to train. She is highly obedient; during walks in the park, she is also good responding to recall. She would make an excellent family companion dog! Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.* This dog will be at the Pet Food Express Pet Fair - Roseville on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th from 10AM–3PM both days (unless adopted prior to the event).  1009 Galleria Blvd. All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption Fee: $700 Ty is a 10 month old Cattle dog mix weighing about 28 pounds, and this handsome young guy is ready to find a family of his very own! Ty was surrendered by his owner and is now getting to experience all the fun, love, and adventures that puppyhood should bring. Ty is an active, playful, and very smart young dog who loves being around people and children. He especially enjoys playing ball with the grandkids and is always interested in whatever is happening around him. He has a cute little “watchful eye” and loves keeping tabs on his surroundings. He’s also a big fan of attention and absolutely enjoys being petted and getting a good neck massage! While Ty has plenty of puppy energy, he isn’t go-go-go all day. He has several times throughout the day when he happily settles down and relaxes, and when bedtime rolls around, he knows how to wind down and sleeps through the night like a champ. Ty is house-trained, crate-trained, and already comfortable using a doggie door. He has never needed potty pads. His typical day includes breakfast around 7:30 AM, one or two walks, plenty of backyard time, and dinner around 5 PM. On walks, Ty is still working on his leash manners and can be a bit of a puller. His foster is working with him on this by using a no pull harness and rewarding him with treats when he listens and follows directions. He is friendly when meeting other dogs and seems to enjoy saying hello to people along the way. In fact, people frequently stop to tell his foster just how cute he is! Like many young dogs, Ty is still working through his puppy and teething stages. When he gets bored, he may find something to chew, and he enjoys doing a little digging in the yard. He also likes keeping an eye on things from the side gate. He isn’t an excessive barker, but he may bark when another dog is barking or when he hears an unusual noise. And then there’s Ty’s funny little connection to the mailman! As it turns out, the mailman’s name is also Tyler, and our Ty absolutely LOVES him because he gets treats whenever he sees him. If Ty spots his favorite mailman while out on a walk, he immediately wants to go say hello and collect his special treat. Clearly, Ty knows exactly who his friends are and which friends carry snacks!  Ty would love a home with a good-sized yard where he can romp and play or a home that is committed to exercising him properly and getting all those puppy wiggles out. Most importantly, he needs a family who will continue helping him learn, provide plenty of exercise and enrichment, and appreciate all the goofy, lovable qualities that come with having a young Cattle Dog mix. Ty is smart, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. He’s the kind of dog who will keep you entertained, join you on adventures, and happily accept a good neck scratch at the end of the day. September 14, 2026, 12:12 am

Story
Adopt Cedar This Handsome boy has been looking for a home for quite sometime. He was rescued at just 4 months old back in April 2024. All of his siblings found loving homes already. Cedar took some time to open up but Cedar loves the outdoors now! He is shy but playful, great with other pups, curious, and smart (taught himself the dog door on his own), food motivated which is a bonus for training! He’s crate trained, potty trained and just a stunning hound mix who was kill-listed and a true survivor! Cedar is ready for patience and love. He sleeps through the night and is learning to trust humans more and more everyday. Originally he is from the Coachella Valley, Animal Shelter and saved on Easter Sunday. ?We are very thankful for everyone that has helped all the siblings! ? With a total of eight fearful puppies who had nowhere to go. Now they have all one by one come out of their shells at their own time. We would love for Cedar to find a home where he could relax and decompress. These puppies definitely needed love and patience, and they are opening up a little by little. Cedar is one and a half years old and most likely a cattle mix dog who is, great at running and loves dogs! He is located in San Diego California.March 8, 2026, 12:21 am
