Story
These puppies wouldn't have had a chance. Their Mum was dumped by her owner at a Houston shelter even though she was an absolute sweetheart. She was a senior girl with a broken pelvis, broken back leg, most teeth missing or broken, heartworm positive, and pregnant. She would have been euthanized, even while pregnant, had she not been rescued. Mum has been named Princess and is now going to get to live the good life! She is a 15 pound Red Heeler and gave birth to four puppies on December 22, 2025 while in rescue. The tan puppy is a female, the two white and dark brown puppies are male. The largest puppy was six pounds as of the first week of February. Since they arrived in Colorado just in time for the day of LOVE, we've affectionately named them The Valentines Day puppies. We are just starting to learn more about their adorable personalities, so more to come! Cupid, white Male Loverboy, black & dark brown Male (still needs foster) Romeo, white with light brown patch over right eye Male Valentine, tan with black mask Female Mum Princess is pictured last, she looks nothing like her babies Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Story
Blue is the all-around sweetest, most awesome dog ever with the most stunning eyes! He was found as a stray in Wortham, a tiny rural town Southeast of Waco, Texas. He is wonderful with cats, other dogs and kids and is so ready to find his furever home! Blue loves car rides, snacks and playtime! Unfortunately Blue, and all the animals at the Wortham shelter, have little prospects as the shelter does little to no adoptions. There is a small group of individuals in Wortham that work tirelessly to network (and vet, on a very limited budget) these animals to foster-based rescues in and out of Texas that are willing to consider them. Red Fern was contacted by one of these volunteers who, together with her high school daughter, go to the holding facility every day to walk the dogs, socialize them, take them to the vet, and just spend quality time with them. Blue has made the journey up from a shelter in the small, rural town of Wortham, South Texas to Colorado, and is being fostered in Denver, available to meet! Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Story
Meet Macks, a 5-year-old Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix with a heart full of potential and a loving spirit. Macks was surrendered to a high-kill shelter after her previous owner passed away, and she’s now looking for a new family to give her the love and stability she deserves. Initially anxious and a bit flighty, Macks requires some time to build trust. However, once she feels secure, she becomes an incredibly affectionate and well-behaved companion. Macks is not fond of other dogs or cats, so she would do best in a home where she can be the only pet. She will thrive in a household with middle school-aged children or older, or with adults who can provide her with the patience and care she needs to feel at ease. If you're looking for a loyal and loving dog who will become deeply attached to her new family, Macks is ready to bring her devotion and warmth into your home.
