If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Buca (pronounced Boo-Kuh) is an Australian Red heeler who just turned 2. She is a great dog who requires a lot of energy release and consistent training. She would be a great fit for someone who lives an active lifestyle, has time to train and can keep her working! She loves fetch, jumping, running freely, chasing, and heeling of course. Pros: She knows many commands including sit, down, stay, heel (walk next to you) and come. She's highly food-motivated and is very responsive to training and learning new things. She's very loyal and protective of her pack. She goes to Doggy daycare 1-2 times a week, where she plays with other dogs regularly. She loves belly rubs. Areas for improvement: Buca has some leash reactivity to strangers and other dogs from time to time (I believe this to be fear-based). She also likes to jump on people which can be jarring if caught by surprise. She barks loudly when hearing people at the door.
