Story
Meet Clark! Clark is an adorable and sweet Blue Heeler that is approximately 5 years old. He has typical dense heeler fur that he loves to have you scratch. He loves attention and can be ok with other dogs but would prefer to be an only dog. He has been exposed to cats and will leave them alone. He is not recommended for homes with small children because he can be protective of his food, treats, and people. He is overall just a sweet, cuddly, friendly, and fun little guy once he warms up to his person / people. It will take time for him to adjust in his new home so his new people need to be patient and loving. If you are looking for an only dog to be your bestest snuggle buddy, please submit an application at forrescue.net He is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and any potential adopter must meet him here.

Story
Bonnie is a vibrant, happy girl with a heart full of joy and a tail that never stops! She is a silver-and-tan beauty who is already house-trained, spayed, and up-to-date on all her shots. True to her Cattle Dog roots, she is incredibly smart and a total "eager learner." She excels at training (especially when snacks are involved!) and is great with children and other dogs. Whether she’s chasing a squeaky ball or perfecting a new trick for a treat, she is always up for a challenge. While she is the perfect companion for an active home, our family’s health/allergies mean we can no longer give her the care she deserves. Bonnie is house-trained, great with kids, and ready to find her forever adventure partner!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucy was saved from a high-kill shelter in California and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Wednesday 3rd August. We post our available dogs in states across the East Coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes of finding the right homes. We do not transport dogs — families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and, hopefully, take home their new best friend. Health & Background ✅ Spayed ✅ Rabies and core vaccines up to date ✅ On monthly flea/tick preventatives ✅ Microchipped ⚖️ Weight: around 40 lbs Estimated DoB: 1 May 2025 Lucy will only be adopted to a home with another dog, as she has consistently thrived in a multi-dog environment and gains confidence, structure, and engagement from other dogs. Lucy, when she arrived at the rescue, was shy, but being around other dogs really brought her out of her shell. During her time here, she bonded with German Shepherd Snowball and there was a time I was only going to adopt them as a bonded pair. However, since she has been living with other teenage dogs (Cruz, Sandy, Sunny), her personality is just thriving. She is such a happy girl. She absolutely LOVES toys and, as you would expect from the breed, she is always chewing on a bone, a toy, squeaking, or destuffing. She loves every dog she meets and gets incredibly happy when she meets new dogs. She is visibly excited but controlled, not bouncing all over and not a dog that jumps up much. She is always instigating play with the other dogs and loves to chase and wrestle. Recently, she met a blind and deaf white Chihuahua (check out the videos) and she waited patiently wagging her tail excited for him to come over to her and when he did she instigated play on his small dog level. Lucy is very shy around new places and new people and we are taking her out more and to our local hang out at More Than Just Engraving Store in the Bangor Mall where she is getting to meet lots of people and after a few moments of building up confidence soon enjoys being stroked and loved on with those who are happy to sit on the floor with her. She will bark at people walking past outside. We are currently temporarily living in the center of town, but the traffic noise, fire engine sirens and everyday busy traffic do not phase her. She walks ok on a leash although in her shy phase can be a little hesitant, but soon gets into it and doesn't pull at all. Lucy shares food and water bowls and all toys with the other dogs and has never shown any kind of aggression or upset. She has been around people of all ages and is ok around small children when she feels comfortable which as mentioned previously when she has warmed up and feels safe. Lucy is incredibly responsive and will come in when told to. Although no training has been done, with her intelligence and responsiveness I do not feel this would be a problem, once she feels safe and is confident with her new people. Lucy is not a lover of car rides and has been known to be sick. Since I have been taking her out with Cruz who is super confident, I have found that her sickness does seem less, I am not sure if that is because he just oozes confidence, or if she is getting used to it, but when she is nervous she will most likely be sick so this is to be expected when going to her new home and maybe the first few trips out. She has definitely been getting better, with no sickness and sometimes only a bit of drool on trips. Lucy is a Red Heeler, a Cattle Dog this is a very high energy and high intelligence breed and she needs a family that understands and respects this. She needs a family that is active that can give her the lifestyle she needs whilst understanding the mental stimulation and challenge is equally as important. What Lucy Needs A home with other dogs based on how she has thrived in her current environment Time and patience to allow her to adjust and build confidence Continued exposure to new environments at her pace Plenty of toys and appropriate chew items Structure and routine Adoption Details Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Lucy. ⏱️ Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Lucy? Story
My name is Bingo. I am what you think I am - a Cattle Dog or other people may call me a Heeler. Same thing! I am pretty classic aren't I? I am 1 year old and about 40 lbs. I am totally filled out and full grown. I am a loyal and loving companion and a pleaser. I am great with dogs. I live with two female heelers and I took to them right away. My herding behavior comes out a bit when I am excited and playful. So it's probably best if the other dog is tolerant and has an easy going nature to deal with my goofiness. I am good on leash. I could 100% be your one an only dog. I am loyal and focused. I love to go for hikes and have been on a few jogs with my foster mom. I really enjoy it but no, I don't need a marathon runner. I do need a human or family that will keep me exercised and stimulated; not 24/7 but some nice brisk walks during the day and some time showing you my tricks will do. I will be your best buddy and happy to be your sidekick. I have spent time with older kids and absolutely loved it - they played fetch with me and it was perfect! I am crate trained and housebroken, obedient and can't wait to learn new things everyday. I am located in CT. Story
My name is Hutch! I am about 6.5 years old and 60 lbs. Okay - perhaps my ideal weight would be 55 but it's been a long winter! I am in a wonderful foster home in CT and I am the full package. I had to go to a foster home due to an unfortunate situation with my family who had me for a very long time. It wasn't me! I promise! My next and final family is out there and will be so lucky to have me. Here is my summary! I love people. I have been around kids too without any issue; they are great so no problem there. I am extremely loyal and love to be close but I am not annoying. :) I am good with other dogs too. I live with two other dogs in my foster home and I am respectful. I like to play and I enjoy their company! I can easily live as an only dog; I have enough confidence and independence where that won't be a problem. I am completely housebroken and trustworthy. No crate needed! I am fine for a few hours if my people need to go out. I walk well on leash and have fun going out and about. I am medium energy. I love my entertainment and exercise but I am a master at cuddling on the couch and just chilling too. I am a wonderful mature age with a lot of years ahead. Don't let my number scare you - I have plenty of time and who really wants to train a puppy these days?! I am located in CT.
