Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Meet Boochie (aka Booch aka Kombucha). Boochie was adopted out in 2021 and through no fault of her own was recently returned to our organization. We are very grateful to her previous adopters for reaching out to us and following policy/the contract when it comes to no longer being able to care for a Northstar dog. Once a NorthStar dog, always a NorthStar dog. Boochie is now looking to start her next chapter in a new home. She is wiser, older and ummmm chubbier than she was in 2021 but she is currently on weight control food and getting daily exercise to work herself down to a healthier weight. Are you ready to become her accountability partner?...it is a new year after all and maybe she can even help you in your quest to become healthier (if that's your thing). Boochie is now about 7 years old, she is house broken, crate trained and gets along well with her 4-legged foster brother who is a NorthStar alumni himself. She is about 66 pounds but three weeks ago she was 69 pounds, so she really is putting in the work! She sleeps through the night in her crate with very little fuss and has even come to appreciate her crate and seeks it out door open during the day. Boochie is a certified work from home co-worker and is totally happy sitting beside your desk quietly throughout the day. She is learning manners when it comes to other dogs, she gets along well with them but can be a bit greedy with toys and food (with other dogs, not humans) and is a very "in your face" player in the yard so a tolerant dog that can help teach her some doggie manners would work out nicely. She is an absolute star at playing fetch, she LOVES playing fetch, for her size she is very active and agile. She is a bit chaotic on a leash but is working on that too. Cali has a very sad story, and one that stayed with all of us. She spent 8 years in a home with the same owner, her whole world, until he sadly passed away. No one knew for quite some time, and Cali was left alone in the house for two weeks with her deceased owner. When she was finally discovered, she was understandably terrified, confused, and heartbroken. Cali was picked up by animal control, and we were asked if we could help save her. The moment we met her, we fell in love. Is she shy? Yes. Skittish? Absolutely. But never once has she shown an ounce of aggression. Cali bonds quickly with her favorite people and, while she may always be a sensitive girl, she truly loves her humans once she feels safe. She does well with other dogs and may actually enjoy living with a canine companion. Although Cali is 8 years old, you would never know it — she still has so much life and love to give.
