Story
Meet Blanche - 15 pounds of sweetness with the heart of an old soul.
Blanche is a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd mix whose difficult beginning hasn't taken away her wonderfully gentle outlook on life. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Oklahoma, Blanche entered foster care and began learning that people can be kind, loving, and dependable.
She took that lesson to heart - because this sweet girl has so much love to give in return.
Blanche is affectionate, gentle, and incredibly devoted to her people. She's comfortable and patient with other dogs - she's especially sweet with puppies - but her human is where her heart truly lies. Give Blanche the choice, and she'll happily settle in for a good snuggle or simply stay close to her favorite person.
For such a young dog, Blanche has a wonderfully old-soul personality. She enjoys walks, rides nicely in the car, and is ready to join her person on just about any adventure. But she doesn't need to be in the middle of everything. Blanche is just as content to stand back and quietly take in the world around her.
Crowds, noise, and lots of activity don't seem to faze her. She hasn't met a person that she hasn't considered a new best friend. Blanche's biggest concern is simply knowing that her person is on the other end of the leash.
Because of her early life, food is especially important to Blanche. She currently has a strong drive for food and treats - whether they belong to a human or another dog - and meals tend to disappear very quickly! Her food motivation will be a wonderful tool for training, but she'll need some management around mealtimes and treats, particularly in a multi-pet household. As Blanche continues to experience the security of dependable daily meals, she may learn that there's no need to hurry quite so much.
At the end of the day, Blanche is happy sleeping with her people or simply nearby. She's also being fostered around resident cats. She's curious and aware of them, but if they don't run, she doesn't chase.
Blanche could be happy as the only dog in her home or as part of a multi-dog family.
Gentle. Devoted. Patient. Adventurous. An old soul in a little 15-pound package. Blanche has already discovered that people can be kind. Now she's ready to discover what it feels like to have people who are hers forever.
