Story
**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to Portland for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Copper! Copper is a very sweet, playful guy! He is around 4 years old, and at his last vet visit weighed in at 60 pounds. We think Copper probably has some Australian Shepherd, along with several other breeds including possibly Belgian Shepherd, Greyhound or Carolina dog. Copper is a beautiful and happy boy. He’s lucky to be alive! Copper came to us from the shelter at a time when he was minutes from losing his life because he had an upper respiratory infection. We are so glad he is with us now, and he is in a training program getting ready for his forever home! Copper does well in a crate, he also does well on a leash. Copper would love to be a hiking or running buddy! His foster mom said he is doing well at learning house training. Copper loves to play with his doggy friends especially tug-of-war with the big rope toys and will do wonderful at a daycare or dog park with other active and playful dogs! Interested in becoming a forever home for Copper? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Copper. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Copper the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
**This is a courtesy post, this dog is NOT in the care of Bradford's Second Chance Rescue** Daisy is a 6-year-old spayed Australian Shepherd who is fully vaccinated, healthy, and has no known veterinary concerns. She is currently being fostered by us after we took her in from a family member who was no longer able to keep her.Daisy is an extremely sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented dog. She thrives on companionship and loves to be near her people. She is very loving, seeks out attention, and forms strong bonds with the people she trusts. She wants to be included in daily life and is happiest when she is spending time with her family.Daisy does have some behavioral challenges that potential adopters should be aware of. She can be reactive toward other dogs, particularly unfamiliar dogs, and has shown possessive behaviors around toys and food. Because of this, we believe Daisy would do best as the only dog in the home. We also recommend an adult-only home where her environment can be more predictable and her boundaries can be respected.Daisy’s previous environment likely contributed to some of these challenges. She was often tied up indoors or allowed to roam off-leash outside with little structure or training and was expected to act as a guard dog. She was surrendered due to an incident where she nipped at an Amazon driver. She has never inflicted a serious bite, and the behavior appeared consistent with her herding instincts combined with a lack of training and appropriate management.Since being in our care, Daisy has made significant progress. We have potty trained her and begun basic obedience training, and she responds very well to consistency, routine, and clear expectations. She is intelligent, eager to learn, and benefits greatly from structure.Daisy would do best in an active home with someone who understands herding breeds and is committed to continuing her training. She needs daily exercise, mental stimulation, and regular engagement with her people. She is not a dog who will thrive if left alone for long periods or without adequate outlets for her energy and intelligence. We are working to find Daisy the right permanent home where she can continue to grow and succeed. We are happy to answer questions, share what we have learned about her, and help ensure she is matched with an adopter who understands her needs and is prepared to provide the structure, patience, and commitment she deserves.Daisy is a loving, loyal dog who deserves a stable, patient, and engaged adult home where she can thrive as the center of someone’s world. Please email the current owner at katherineramx@gmail.com if you are interested in meeting Daisy! ##2758429##

Story
We are moving across country and won’t be able to take our baby boy with us. He responds to “Bear” and he is full of life. He is a very smart dog and will need someone there who’s willing to work with him and keep him engaged. He does well with scent work and puzzles, and is kennel trained. For house training he does best when a doggy door is available to him but he will smack the front door to let you know he needs out. Bear does show resource guarding against other dogs with certain high value items such as food, water, and bones so all of his meals he spends in his kennel or he is supervised. Because Bear is high energy, I would advise against having very young/small children around him unless you wish to turn your family into a bowling alley. For any other questions please feel free to contact us!

Story
Loyal 9-Year-Old Aussie Looking for an Active, Loving Retirement Home We are heartbreakingly seeking a new home for our sweet, handsome 9-year-old Australian Shepherd. Due to major life changes—including a toddler, split-shift work schedules, and an upcoming out-of-state relocation away from family support—we can no longer provide him with the time, walks, and attention he deserves. He is a wonderful companion who is house-trained, dog-friendly, highly food-motivated, and a massive cuddler. Ideal Home Requirements: Family: Great with kids ages 7 and up. No toddlers, as he can get overwhelmed and displays natural herding instincts (rarely nipping to herd. No injuries, but best avoided). Pets: Good with other dogs; no cats (he will chase them). Environment: Someone familiar with herding breeds. He experiences some anxiety (expressed through whimpering) and thrives on routine and companionship. He has so much love left to give and deserves a home that can prioritize his happiness.

Story
Cyrus is a 2yr old male, intact Mini Australian Shepherd. He is really an amazing dog. His recall is pretty good, he knows the basic commands (sit, stay, lay down), as well as high five. He is such a smart boy, he catches on really fast to anything you teach him. He hasn't been around a lot of other dogs, so he's a little unsure of them at first. He isn't neutered as well, so that makes him more territorial. He does well with people in small doses, a big crowd makes him nervous. He is purebred mini aussie, I do have his AKC papers. He is up to date on his shots as well. He is also crate trained and loves car rides. I haven't had him around kids very much besides just the few passing near a park, but he seems to do pretty well with them from those little interactions. He has the best, goofiest personality. He'll always keep you laughing, and he loves to cuddle. His new home should be with a family that's willing to provide him further training, and give him plenty of exercise.
