**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to Portland for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Copper! Copper is a very sweet, playful guy! He is around 4 years old, and at his last vet visit weighed in at 60 pounds. We think Copper probably has some Australian Shepherd, along with several other breeds including possibly Belgian Shepherd, Greyhound or Carolina dog. Copper is a beautiful and happy boy. He’s lucky to be alive! Copper came to us from the shelter at a time when he was minutes from losing his life because he had an upper respiratory infection. We are so glad he is with us now, and he is in a training program getting ready for his forever home! Copper does well in a crate, he also does well on a leash. Copper would love to be a hiking or running buddy! His foster mom said he is doing well at learning house training. Copper loves to play with his doggy friends especially tug-of-war with the big rope toys and will do wonderful at a daycare or dog park with other active and playful dogs! Interested in becoming a forever home for Copper? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Copper. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Copper the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Story
**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Mia! Mia is making her debut here at our rescue after her owner turned her out on the streets in rural Oklahoma where she had several litters of puppies and developed severe hair loss due to years of chronic demodex. Her skin is soft now and most of her beautiful coat has filled in. She still has some bald spots and her skin scrape is negative, so we are unsure if she will have new hair growth in the bald areas or not. After wonderful care from our vet and foster mom, daily Apoquel and high quality food... Mia is ready for her forever home! Mia is the definition of a smart velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side or in your car 24/7. Mia is the master of playing fetch, loves to tear up stuffed toys, opens gate latches and door latches! Although Mia loves people small children and small dogs make her very nervous...not aggressive as there are small dogs in her foster home...just nervous. She is fine with bigger dogs and kids! Mia's foster mom thinks Mia is part angel!! It's time for Mia to share her love with her new person! Could that be you? Interested in becoming a forever home for Mia? I'm going through a divorce and can't take care of Sparrow properly due to my busy schedule. Sparrow is a very sweet girl who would do best with someone who can spoil her and give her lots of pets. She's anxious and shy and would be happiest if she was the only pet. She's 12 years old and 8 pounds. She loves relaxing, food, going on car rides and walks!

Story
Meet Cowgirl! Cowgirl is the size of a tall, petite, King Charles. She is snuggly, highly trainable, shy, and incredibly precious. She absolutely wants a human bed to sleep in at night and would do best with someone who is home more often than not and in a home that isn't super rowdy or with lots of people coming and going. Cowgirl will deeply connect to her trusted humans and would love adventures with her people. More than anything, she is tired of being lonely. She has been living at a rural, kennel-based rescue in California for awhile, so we took her into our care in Portland OR, to try and get her some notice! And boy are we glad we did. She is awesome! Because she tends to "herd" little feet, she would do best in a home without children (and ideally one not planning for children soon). She likes other dogs and we THINK she would likely do well with cats too, though additional testing would be needed. She is about one year old, spayed, vaccinated, and has had her rabies shot. Adoption fee is: $400 If you are interested in adopting her, please text 804 651 6442 or apply at STARTrescue.org

Story
Meet Tsosie - a sweet, loyal girl looking for her perfect home.Tsosie is around 4 years old and absolutely loves people. She’s affectionate, gentle, and happiest when she’s curled up near her humans or getting attention. She enjoys relaxing at home, going on walks, and being part of the family. She would do best as the only pet in the home. While she’s wonderful with people, she becomes stressed around other dogs and needs a calm environment where she doesn’t have to share space with them. Because of this, we’re looking for a home experienced with dogs or someone committed to giving her a structured, loving environment where she can thrive. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, and we’re committed to finding her the right fit — not just the fastest fit. We’ll happily answer questions and want to make sure it’s a great match for both her and her future family. She deserves a home where she can feel safe, loved, and fully relaxed.

Story
Arlo is his name and his gentle eyes match his heart perfectly! Arlo is currently fostered in a loving home with three kids (ages 4–12), and his daily routine reads like a cozy family story. Mornings start with breakfast and a short walk to the bus stop with the kids, followed by backyard zoomies and toy time with his small dog buddy. Then it’s nap time… until the kids come home and it’s right back to play, connection, and winding down together for the evening. He is house and crate trained, knows the rhythm of home life, and truly thrives when he knows where his people are. Go watch Arlo on YouTube, then come right back to read more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw53vBp1SkA Arlo is estimated to be 1 year old, he weighs 48 lbs and may be a husky/shepherd mix but of course, he is a rescue so we cannot guarantee age or breed. Arlo’s foster has had a wonderful front row seat to the Arlo show and shared so much about him. We lovingly call him a “slow bloom, big reward” kind of dog. He can be shy when meeting new people and may hang back at first, taking everything in from a safe distance and in these moments you see just how adoring and devoted he is. This is when he looks to his person for reassurance while he figures things out. But with a little time, a little patience, and a steady routine… on the other side you have the sweetest, most devoted boy who just wants to be close to you. One thing that helps Arlo feel his best is having a canine buddy, especially a smaller dog. He absolutely lights up around his little foster sibling, following along, playing, and gaining confidence just by having that companionship. Bigger dogs can feel a bit overwhelming for him right now, so a home with a smaller, friendly dog or a calm, easygoing larger dog (with a thoughtful introduction and decompression time) would be ideal. Arlo would feel most comfortable in a home with a yard where he can settle in and build confidence at his own pace. Walks in busy or unfamiliar places can feel like a lot for him right now, but he’s a smart, trainable boy who just needs time, consistency, and someone willing to show him the world can be a safe and gentle place. If you’ve ever loved a shy dog, you already know… there is something incredibly special about earning their trust. Arlo isn’t trying to be everyone’s dog. He’s waiting to be someone’s dog. And when he is, it’s the kind of bond that feels steady and true. Are you Arlo’s person? Apply today and welcome home a gentle family boy who just might become your favorite little shadow. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/697b7a35063e5fe841006850 Questions?
