**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to Portland for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Copper! Copper is a very sweet, playful guy! He is around 4 years old, and at his last vet visit weighed in at 60 pounds. We think Copper probably has some Australian Shepherd, along with several other breeds including possibly Belgian Shepherd, Greyhound or Carolina dog. Copper is a beautiful and happy boy. He’s lucky to be alive! Copper came to us from the shelter at a time when he was minutes from losing his life because he had an upper respiratory infection. We are so glad he is with us now, and he is in a training program getting ready for his forever home! Copper does well in a crate, he also does well on a leash. Copper would love to be a hiking or running buddy! His foster mom said he is doing well at learning house training. Copper loves to play with his doggy friends especially tug-of-war with the big rope toys and will do wonderful at a daycare or dog park with other active and playful dogs! For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Hoshi is a sweet and smart 5-year-old Australian Shepherd. We got her as a puppy from a pet store when she was 8 weeks old. Hoshi loves cuddles, belly rubs, and playing, and is good with children, but she has some behavioral issues. She barks a lot, and she pulls during all her walks. She is a protective dog. When at home, she will bark excessively at anyone or anything that gets close. She has never attacked a person or another dog, but she will bark and pull towards them if she sees them. In the few instances that she has managed to get off her leash, she has only continued to bark at the person or dog, but never anything else. Hoshi has been described as aggressive, and people are often afraid of her. I tried doggy daycare twice, but she was turned away because she was highly anxious and just stood in a corner all by herself. She has needed trazodone before all vet appointments. With a heavy heart, I am making the decision today to find her a new home.
