Meet Honey Belle. The kind of dog everyone wishes they had!
If you’ve ever dreamed of a dog who just fits into your life, the one who adores your kids, is dog friendly, cat friendly, charms your neighbors, and somehow makes every day feel softer and sweeter, Honey Belle is that dog.
See for yourself here! https://youtu.be/nEWURm9DBxk
Honey is 5 years old and we believe to be an Australian Shepherd/Anatolian or Great Pyrenees mix, but with any rescue it is our best guess due to her markings, temperament and size! Speaking of size, Honey weighs a full 85 lbs! Now Homey will tell you she is perfect just the way she is, and while she’s not wrong, Honey is currently on a weight loss journey to shave some lbs. When you are so affectionate everyone wants to shower you with treats (what can a girl say😌)
When you spend your days getting to know dogs and trying to match them to the right homes, you start to recognize the rare ones, and Honey is just that. She is so unique and special in many, many ways! The ones that just a family to love them and to give their love endlessly.
She is calm, deeply affectionate, and incredibly in tune with her people. She doesn’t demand attention, she simply stays close, following you from room to room, settling in nearby, always wanting to be part of whatever you’re doing. Her presence is soft and steady, the kind that makes a house feel like home.
With children, she is something truly special. Honey has been around kids of all ages, from babies to older children, and she is consistently gentle, patient, and aware of her size. She is currently toy fostered with kids between 7-9 years old and they are her pride and joy (truly!) She naturally adjusts her energy around them, even managing her zoomies carefully so she doesn’t overwhelm little ones. The kids in her foster home are able to walk her themselves because she is such a dream on leash. No pulling, no chaos, just an easy, steady walk that makes her a perfect fit for a family. Afterschool pickup is her favorite, she gets to say to all of the neighborhood kids and roll on her back for belly scratches.
She doesn’t just live alongside the kids, she becomes part of their routine. Honey knows bedtime means it’s time to gather everyone, and she will go find the kids and help usher them off to bed. In the evenings, she’s right there for movie night, curled up on the couch, soaking in every bit of closeness like it’s exactly where she belongs.
Honey gives affection in the gentlest way. She leans in softly, always seeking connection without overwhelming. Belly rubs are a must in her world. She will happily walk right up, roll onto her back, and patiently wait for them, completely content. She truly believes she’s a lap dog and will climb right in whenever she gets the chance.
Out in the neighborhood, Honey is a favorite. People know her, kids love her, and she soaks it all up. She loves meeting new people and will gladly make her rounds collecting pets and attention. In her mind, there are no strangers, just friends she hasn’t met yet.
She does beautifully with other dogs, enjoying play without needing constant interaction, and she is also cat friendly. She has previously lived with a cat and even cuddled up together in bed, which speaks to how easygoing and respectful she is.
At home, she is just easy. She is potty trained, comfortable with a routine, and has a calm, balanced energy. She enjoys having a yard to explore but is just as happy being inside, close to her people. Toys are not really her thing. What she wants most is connection, companionship, and a place to belong.
She may give a few barks when someone comes to the door or get a little excited greeting guests, but she responds well to redirection and continues to improve. Honey simply can’t believe there is a new visitor to get belly scratches from!! She is eager to please and naturally wants to do the right thing.
Honey Belle is not just a great dog. She is a rare kind of dog. The kind that quietly weaves herself into your life and suddenly you can’t imagine a day without her.
She’s ready to become someone’s everything.
If you’ve been waiting for that feeling, the one where you just know, this is it.
Don’t wait on Honey. Dogs like her do not come around often, and once you meet her, you will understand exactly why.
