Meet Truffle, a 2-year-old female Australian Shepherd mix.Truffle originally arrived at the adoption center with 8 other animals involved in a hoarding/abuse case. Truffle has been amazing with staff and loves to get attention. She knows the sit command and prefers pets as a reward. Truffle is a smart girl and ready to go in any direction. This pet is available for adoption on 7/24/24 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. I acquired Anthony in hopes to have a friendly companion by my side as I live alone. I loved having him around and training him. Unfortunately, I underestimated the the complications of having a dog while working a very busy job. After talking with my boss about the matter, the conclusion was Anthony needed a home where he had the attention and focus he deserved. He is a loving and friendly puppy who is very intelligent and learns quickly! He already knows basic commands and is potty trained which is a huge bonus. Another positive is that he’s a quiet dog that rarely barks. Anthony loves to be active and play, and of course loves attention from people. He will come with his vaccination paperwork, a new bed, toys, and all the essentials he needs to thrive. I hope he finds the loving home he deserves!

MY DARLIN’ CLEMENTINE. This 2yr old, 45lb girl is so sweet, and oh so pregnant! She is getting ready to have her babies any minute and she is still in a kill shelter. Unless we can find a foster home to see her through whelping and weaning of the puppies (about 7-8wks), she will give birth in the shelter. Their lives are at risk of illness and even euthanasia if she stays there much longer. WE ARE DESPERATE TO SAVE HER! The staff have all fallen in love with her and have reported that she is a very gentle tempered, affectionate girl, even in her uncomfortable state. This is what one volunteer said: “I took Clementine out on a Doggy Day Out yesterday. She rides great in the car, wasn’t interested in the pup cup at Starbucks. And then we wandered around Tractor Supply. She passed other people with dogs with quiet observance. Clementine is great on the leash, people/kid friendly, non-reactive to cats she has encountered here at the shelter. Just an all-around great girl that needs a safe place to go!” She sounds so wonderful! PLEASE HELP CLEMENTINE! During foster, all food and supplies are provided.

Hi, my name is Duncan and my foster mum tells me I'm a curious sweet boy! Some things you should know about me: I am the "runt" of the litter but that didn't stop me from learning how to climb stairs before all of my other siblings! I'm also very good at climbing out of my kennel area so my foster mummy upgraded me to a penthouse suite upstairs! I am working on my potty training and I'm officially kennel trained! Sometimes I get distracted outside and forget to go, but I'm working on that. And man I love food, foster mum tells me this will make it super easy to train me when I'm older, whatever that means. I'm all black but I'm growing some big boy white hairs on my chest and chin. I'm also good at cuddling and love to climb up and nap in any lap I can find. I know I'm not as cool looking as my siblings, but I promise I'm 100% Good Boy!
