Story
Meet Mumsy! SEE STRAYCATION UPDATE! ADORES OTHER DOGS! This darling three-year-old, 49-pound beagle mix will be quick to capture your heart with her endearing personality and lovely nature. Mumsy was found abandoned and malnourished, taking care of her litter of pups. Being the amazing mama she is, she kept her babies safe and all of them have now been adopted. Now its her turn to find the family of her dreams-one that will truly treasure her and show her how wonderful life can be! Mumsy had some time away from the kennel for the holidays and we can't wait to share all we've learned about her! She is a pup that thrives with other dogs! They bring her comfort and we feel she'd do best in a home with another affectionate dog. As you can see from her pics, she adores other pups and we promised we'd find her a wonderful fur sibling for her! She shares her toys very well too! Speaking of toys, Mumsy loves all sort of them! She's also fond of all types of treats. She has spent time with a cat and while interested, we feel she does have the potential to live with a dog-savvy feline. Mumsy does very well on leash and also good in the car. She seems to enjoy her time outside and a yard for her to enjoy is a must for her. We don't think she knows her name, but has good recall when you call her. Mumsy is the definition of a submissive sweetheart! She can be timid with new people initially, but once she feels comfortable, she's a total lover girl. At the end of the day, she sleeps quietly throughout the night in her crate in her foster mom's bedroom. She's on her way to being fully house-trained and we think she'll have it down in no time. With patience and encouragement, we know Mumsy will continue to build her confidence and she's going to bring so much joy to one lucky family. Mumsy is a pup that would do best in a home where she can be part of the daily activities or where someone is home to keep her company. She's happiest when she can be where you are. Can't think of a better way to spend your time than cuddling with this cutie pie! Based on our evaluation, we feel Mumsy would do best in an active, but predictable home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. We feel she has the capacity to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you want to be the one give Mumsy the life she deserves, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this delightful girl!

Story
Meet Charlie! Charlie is HIGHLY STRESSED being at the kennel and we are looking for a foster for him! HOUSE-TRAINED, CRATE-TRAINED AND LOVES OTHER PUPS! This 32-pound, two-year-old beagle mix can be found grinning from ear to ear anytime of day! Charlie enjoyed a few days away from the kennel and was a wonderful house guest. We are excited to share all we learned about him! House-trained and crate-trained, this boy is ready to impress. He hung out with another canine companion in his foster home and two of them really hit it off! Charlie is a huge fan of playing fetch and also playing hide and seek with his toys. Speaking of toys, this boy loves them all and shared them nicely with his foster fur sister! When it comes to treats, Charlie isn't picky! He loves all sorts of tasty morsels you'd like to share with him. He is very food-motivated and a slow feeder bowl would be best for him along with work on impulse control around food. Good in the car and on leash, he's ready to join you on all of your adventures. Charlie is an affectionate fellow and a total lover boy! At the end of the day, he sleeps quietly through the night. As he is still a young man, Charlie will benefit from continued training, daily exercise, and lots of playtime in his new home. He'll thrive in a home when he can be part of the action and will make one lucky family very happy for many years to come! We are looking for a family with beagle experience that is committed to working with Charlie on training and making sure he gets the engagement he needs. Based on our evaluation, we feel Charlie would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! Charlie must go to a home free of cats or small animals. If you think he could be the pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our charming Charlie!

Story
CORI Female 8 years Attributes Adult home only preferred Single dog home Dog friendly Good w/cats Requires a fence Housetrained Good in cars Cori is a sweet beagle girl with an adorable underbite. She was obviously very much loved in her previous home, but sadly, her mom passed away. Now, at 8 years old, Cori is looking for a forever home where she can be spoiled again. An adult-only home where she can have ample time to settle in would be best for Cori. She would prefer a quiet lifestyle (no cities or busy neighborhoods for Cori) and would like to be the only dog in the household. That being said, Cori enjoys her visits to doggy daycare where she can socialize with other dogs. Cori also does well with cats. Cori will thrive in a home where she has a regular routine and will be walked daily so her beagle nose can be used to its fullest potential. She’s house trained, but she doesn’t potty on leash, so a fenced yard is a must. Car rides with Cori are a breeze – she’s the perfect passenger when it’s time to hit the road! Because Cori was displaying some behavior that we wanted to better understand, we sent her to a certified professional dog trainer. Cori was already on medication for general anxiety, and she underwent thorough behavioral and medical evaluations to determine if there was something else that was affecting her behavior. We discovered that Cori’s underbite was causing a lot of jaw pain, and her discomfort was affecting how she interacted with the world. Since starting daily anti-inflammatory medication, Cori has bloomed beautifully. According to her trainer, she now has a good appetite and is a “total foodie.” Her confidence has increased, she’s more playful and more at ease meeting new people, and she has learned to ignore distractions while she’s on leash. Best of all, Cori is now ready to find her new forever home. If Cori seems like the beagle buddy you’ve been looking for, please contact Midwest BREW to learn more about her. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
ARROW 4 years Attributes Dog friendly Needs another dog Snuggly Playful Likes car rides Working on housetraining High energy Hi, my name is Arrow. I’m approximately 4 years old and 22 pounds. I’m searching for a family to spoil and pamper me at all times of the day and night. In return I promise to give lots of beagle kisses, cuddles, playfulness and entertaining beagle antics. I love to be picked up, carried around, snuggled and given lots of back scratches and belly rubs. My foster mom says I’m the most affectionate beagle she’s ever had. I do love my humans! If you want to become my permanent human, you will have to say goodbye to your personal space. I follow foster mom all around the house and whine if I can’t be in the same room with her. I could use a little help with my separation anxiety, but I am a real sweetheart. I can’t stress enough how much I love to snuggle and give kisses. I am great with other dogs. I’m even happy to share my human’s lap with other dogs. I just squeeze myself right in there and get some snuggles from both my human and my beagle sibling. I would really enjoy having another energetic young dog to play chase and bitey-face with me. I LOVE to run and play. My favorite toys are stuffies – durable ones or else I shred them. Stealing socks and slippers is one of my many talents. Foster Mom says now that I know I’m safe, I’m reliving my puppy days. I do not like crates. During the day, I do NOT like to be away from my humans as it makes me anxious. I would not do well with long periods of alone time. At night I sleep in the big bed with the humans. I am a great car rider. I am still working on potty training. This is another area where I would be helped by having another dog in the house to show me the ropes. I am quite the follower and like to do what the other dogs do. I’m generally submissive towards other dogs. Please consider becoming my lifelong human family. Love and kisses, Arrow. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
