Story
We got her from a breeder, and she was great in our house up until a month ago she no longer gets along with our puggle. She’s very sweet and playful, she’s a snuggler and she’s very vocal. She is essentially house trained, she only goes in the house if we don’t take her out on time. She actually has gotten good at signaling us that she needs to go. She’s an absolute sweetheart and it really breaks our heart to let her go. The absolute only reason we are rehoming her is because of her fights with our older puggle who is also a female, and while we think it may be due to her not being spayed yet or als that my girlfriend is pregnant, we are unable to deal with it. We have tried a couple private lessons, we have tried muzzle training (did not go good she hates it). We simply cannot afford for the fights to escalate and one of the dogs get hurt. She’s good with the children in our house, hasn’t acted aggressively towards them once and loves to play.

Story
Meet Mumsy! SEE STRAYCATION UPDATE! ADORES OTHER DOGS! This darling three-year-old, 49-pound beagle mix will be quick to capture your heart with her endearing personality and lovely nature. Mumsy was found abandoned and malnourished, taking care of her litter of pups. Being the amazing mama she is, she kept her babies safe and all of them have now been adopted. Now its her turn to find the family of her dreams-one that will truly treasure her and show her how wonderful life can be! Mumsy had some time away from the kennel for the holidays and we can't wait to share all we've learned about her! She is a pup that thrives with other dogs! They bring her comfort and we feel she'd do best in a home with another affectionate dog. As you can see from her pics, she adores other pups and we promised we'd find her a wonderful fur sibling for her! She shares her toys very well too! Speaking of toys, Mumsy loves all sort of them! She's also fond of all types of treats. She has spent time with a cat and while interested, we feel she does have the potential to live with a dog-savvy feline. Mumsy does very well on leash and also good in the car. She seems to enjoy her time outside and a yard for her to enjoy is a must for her. We don't think she knows her name, but has good recall when you call her. Mumsy is the definition of a submissive sweetheart! She can be timid with new people initially, but once she feels comfortable, she's a total lover girl. At the end of the day, she sleeps quietly throughout the night in her crate in her foster mom's bedroom. She's on her way to being fully house-trained and we think she'll have it down in no time. With patience and encouragement, we know Mumsy will continue to build her confidence and she's going to bring so much joy to one lucky family. Mumsy is a pup that would do best in a home where she can be part of the daily activities or where someone is home to keep her company. She's happiest when she can be where you are. Can't think of a better way to spend your time than cuddling with this cutie pie! Based on our evaluation, we feel Mumsy would do best in an active, but predictable home with adults or families with kids ages 12 and up. We feel she has the capacity to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you want to be the one give Mumsy the life she deserves, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this delightful girl!

Story
SHAKIRA 1 year Attributes Dog friendly Needs another dog Housetrained Crate trained Likes car rides Potties on leash Medium energy Shakira is a one-year-old sweetheart with a gentle soul and a playful spark. She came to us as a stray and was understandably very nervous at first, unsure if people could be trusted. While she still needs time to warm up to new faces, once you earn her trust, she gives it wholeheartedly. Shakira forms deep bonds and will love you like no other. She's happiest snuggled up on the couch with her favorite humans or zooming around the yard, soaking up life with joy. Shakira absolutely loves her dog foster brothers, so having another playful dog in the home is a must for her—she thrives with a canine companion to help build her confidence and burn off energy. Shakira is potty trained, crate trained, and highly food motivated, which makes her a quick learner. She has learned a few commands since she came into foster care. She's medium energy and knows how to settle and relax, especially after playtime or a good walk. One of her most endearing traits is how excited she gets to greet her favorite humans in the morning—her happiness is contagious. She does well with small children once she gets to know them, but she can be a bit nervous around teenagers and may need patience and gentle introductions. Shakira loves going on walks and is learning her leash manners, though she's still prone to the occasional sudden lurch when an interesting smell catches her attention. With patience, love, and a playful dog sibling by her side, Shakira will blossom into an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion. She's a special girl just waiting for the right home to truly shine. Story
CORI Female 8 years Attributes Adult home only preferred Single dog home Dog friendly Good w/cats Requires a fence Housetrained Good in cars Cori is a sweet beagle girl with an adorable underbite. She was obviously very much loved in her previous home, but sadly, her mom passed away. Now, at 8 years old, Cori is looking for a forever home where she can be spoiled again. An adult-only home where she can have ample time to settle in would be best for Cori. She would prefer a quiet lifestyle (no cities or busy neighborhoods for Cori) and would like to be the only dog in the household. That being said, Cori enjoys her visits to doggy daycare where she can socialize with other dogs. Cori also does well with cats. Cori will thrive in a home where she has a regular routine and will be walked daily so her beagle nose can be used to its fullest potential. She’s house trained, but she doesn’t potty on leash, so a fenced yard is a must. Car rides with Cori are a breeze – she’s the perfect passenger when it’s time to hit the road! Because Cori was displaying some behavior that we wanted to better understand, we sent her to a certified professional dog trainer. Cori was already on medication for general anxiety, and she underwent thorough behavioral and medical evaluations to determine if there was something else that was affecting her behavior. We discovered that Cori’s underbite was causing a lot of jaw pain, and her discomfort was affecting how she interacted with the world. Since starting daily anti-inflammatory medication, Cori has bloomed beautifully. According to her trainer, she now has a good appetite and is a “total foodie.” Her confidence has increased, she’s more playful and more at ease meeting new people, and she has learned to ignore distractions while she’s on leash. Best of all, Cori is now ready to find her new forever home. If Cori seems like the beagle buddy you’ve been looking for, please contact Midwest BREW to learn more about her. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
ARROW 4 years Attributes Dog friendly Needs another dog Snuggly Playful Likes car rides Working on housetraining High energy Hi, my name is Arrow. I’m approximately 4 years old and 22 pounds. I’m searching for a family to spoil and pamper me at all times of the day and night. In return I promise to give lots of beagle kisses, cuddles, playfulness and entertaining beagle antics. I love to be picked up, carried around, snuggled and given lots of back scratches and belly rubs. My foster mom says I’m the most affectionate beagle she’s ever had. I do love my humans! If you want to become my permanent human, you will have to say goodbye to your personal space. I follow foster mom all around the house and whine if I can’t be in the same room with her. I could use a little help with my separation anxiety, but I am a real sweetheart. I can’t stress enough how much I love to snuggle and give kisses. I am great with other dogs. I’m even happy to share my human’s lap with other dogs. I just squeeze myself right in there and get some snuggles from both my human and my beagle sibling. I would really enjoy having another energetic young dog to play chase and bitey-face with me. I LOVE to run and play. My favorite toys are stuffies – durable ones or else I shred them. Stealing socks and slippers is one of my many talents. Foster Mom says now that I know I’m safe, I’m reliving my puppy days. I do not like crates. During the day, I do NOT like to be away from my humans as it makes me anxious. I would not do well with long periods of alone time. At night I sleep in the big bed with the humans. I am a great car rider. I am still working on potty training. This is another area where I would be helped by having another dog in the house to show me the ropes. I am quite the follower and like to do what the other dogs do. I’m generally submissive towards other dogs. Please consider becoming my lifelong human family. Love and kisses, Arrow.
