Animal Information: Waffles is a 10-month-old neutered male Malinois mix who currently weighs 70lbs, but does need to lose a little weight! He and his littermates were left in a parking lot at Devore shelter when they were just 8 weeks old. Unfortunately the shelter was full so one of our rescue partners took the puppies home to vet them and find them families. Waffles is the last of the litter many months later, and he has been living in a trailer park with other dogs and people. We look forward to meeting him! Foster Profile: Waffles is such a big love! He would do great in a home with a balanced dog friend but would also be fine as an only dog with an active family. He loves all people and other dogs and is quite a “leaner” so be prepared for lots of affection from this sweet boy. Waffles is crate and potty trained. He can be a little vocal when he is first settling in, so we are not considering apartments for him at this time. He’d love a home with a fence yard and a bit of room to run and play. Waffles is an energetic boy and would make a great running/hiking partner, but he does have a good off switch when inside and it’s time to chill. Being a GSD, she would love a family that is active and wants to include her on adventures. After activity, she is happy to lounge with her people. Greta can be reactive with other dogs at this time and will need a family that can help her decompress from the stress of being in a kennel environment, and work with her on confidence and socialization with other dogs. Like most working breeds, the stress of a kennel environment greatly affects how these dogs act around other dogs. With time, love, and proper training, we believe Greta can feel safer and calmer with other dogs. Due to her reactivity, she would not do well in an apartment or busy city environment, she is best suited for a calmer, more rural neighborhood.
