HI - I'M FREYA! I'm a sweet and gentle 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix in need of a foster or forever home. I was rescued from a crowded California shelter in the nick of time. While there, I was kenneled with another dog, and was calm and gentle. I can be shy/timid when you first meet me. But I love playing with other dogs, and I also tested great with cats! (We have videos!) I would do best with an active person or people who can take me for long walks, hikes and other outings. I weigh 55-60 lbs. When your application is approved, you will need to pick her up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, IAH, YVR, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process for many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Mini's Rescue Story Personality: Mini is absolutely the most perfect FMD (Formosan Mountain Dog) we have ever encountered. No word describes her better than "perfect." Mini was once tied up with a heavy chain outside a house. The house was empty—no one lived there. The owner had simply tied Mini and another dog there, often leaving them without food or water. Since both dogs were chained and unable to forage, they could only bark for help. It was these barks that a member of our rescue organization heard while passing by. The rescuer tried to find the owner but quickly realized the house was abandoned. Neighbors said the owner only came by occasionally. Because the dogs were chained on private property right by the door, the rescuers couldn't take them immediately, so they committed to bringing them food every day. One day, the rescuer saw Mini wandering outside alone. Unsure why she had been abandoned, Mini was just moving aimlessly, sniffing for food, and even approaching people for attention. When she saw the rescuer from a distance, Mini recognized her. She quickly ran over and immediately lay on the ground, rolling onto her belly to show affection. Knowing Mini had been deliberately abandoned, the rescuer took her home immediately. What makes Mini so incredible is how incredibly smart and friendly she is. She immediately learned to use pee pads indoors and was accurate every time. Her calm, non-confrontational, and incredibly optimistic personality means she gets along wonderfully with people (including children), cats, and other dogs! Mini's rescuer summarizes her by saying: "Goofy, great natured, and very easy to care for." This perfect personality makes her an ideal match for both first-time and experienced families. Mini spent her early life chained up and hungry. Now, she is ready to find her forever home—a home that can give her the warmth and love she has always deserved. Rescue Story * Horang waited a long time for a family at the Cheongju City Shelter, but no one adopted her. As her holding period had expired, she was at risk of euthanasia. Fortunately, Adogs rescued her just in time. 3.) Basic Information * With People: Is a bit shy and feels uncomfortable with people at first. When she gets used to them, she welcomes them, and barks happily as if displaying her feeling of intimacy! * With Dogs: Growls at new dogs at first and expresses discomfort. Recently shows her reluctance to go to where other dogs gather. Feels uncomfortable when she has to share a living space and tries to avoid going there. Does not chase after other dogs nor attack them, though. Has recently shown persistent interest in a new friend, so we are focusing on training to address the issue. * With Cats: When encountering cats on a walk, she gets very excited and runs to chase them. Sometimes shows aggressiveness at them, so caution is needed. * Separation Anxiety: Currently lives at our center, so it's hard to know for sure. * Potty Training: Is 100% outdoor potty trained, even though she is staying alone in her separate kennel. * Walks: Loves walks, especially running or trotting ones! Sometimes gets excited and pulls on the leash hard during walks. Occasionally chases after a small dog or cat as running at them. Is currently learning one by one while getting walk training! * Car Sickness: Still being observed, but so far, doesn't seem to get car sick. * Bark: When seeing other dogs go out for a walk, she sometimes barks to express her desire to go out. * Like: Loves treats and walks! * Dislike: With a lot of other dogs, she gets very uncomfortable and may become stiff due to the discomfort.
