Story
*** MUST HAVE POWER BREED EXPERIENCE*** *** MUST HAVE FENCED YARD ***   NAME: GERARD WAY LITTER: GERARD is part of the "MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE" litter  AGE/GENDER: JUVENILE (born 8/05/2022), Male BREED: BELGIAN SHEPHERD MALINOIS TEMPERAMENT: Playful and mischievous, headstrong, protective, territorial WEIGHT: 50ish lbs and growing HOUSE TRAINING: He's working on it still and doing great, but he can get a little excited.  CRATE TRAINING: Good, he is crate trained. OTHER DOGS: Good. He will need continued socialization, like all puppies! He is a dominant-type personality. CATS: No cats as he has a strong prey drive. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 12 and older - he is a maligator after all ADOPTION DONATION: $600 HEALTH: GERARD is doing well, but he came to us as a puppy who could not walk and was hospitalized for pyothorax as a young puppy. He has stunted growth and may not have the endurance of a typical healthy Malinois. Prior to adoption, puppies will be altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Puppies are given vaccination boosters in our care; however, adoptive families will be responsible for the remaining vaccinations that puppies need. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. HISTORY: Gerard Way came from a backyard breeder. He was unable to walk when he originally came to us. We worked with him and got him stronger and able to walk only to have tragedy strike as he succumbed to a lung infection. After emergent care and surgery, where it was touch and go, our miracle Malinois defied the odds.  NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: GERARD WAY is a puppy so he's playful and has a lot of puppy energy! He is super cute and fun, but a lot of work. His forever family should be committed to lots of training - obedience, housetraining, and socialization. This will ensure that GERARD grows into a confident, well behaved adult! Puppies' personalities are dependent on their environment, and the structure and training they are given, in addition to socialization. Their personalities continue to grow and be shaped by their new adoptive families. Puppy daycare and socialization classes or puppy kindergarten are highly recommended for their personal development. He will more than reward you for all your hard work with lots of love, loyalty, and laughs.   Gerard is a Malinois, which is a working breed of dog. These dogs need to be worked, mentally. They need a job. They are not a dog for a first-time dog owner. You cannot compare Malinois to a German Shepherd. Gerard requires an adopter with power breed experience. Someone who has worked with and trained power breed dogs. He would appreciate another dog playmate in the home. Gerard, while sometimes naughty since he is still very much a puppy, loves to train and will need an adopter who has training experience and someone who enjoys training and working with their dog. Gerard is a typical Maligator and is very mouthy, which is why he needs a home with older children. He is not a protection dog, as he is highly socialized to people due to his lengthy hospitalization and frequent vet care.   All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.   Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers. Motley Zoo does not have a brick and mortar shelter location. Instead, all our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application and we will work toward approving you as an adopter with our rescue so that we can set a time for you to meet!   For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org.   Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need!   Woof,   The Motley Zoo CrewOctober 3, 2023, 7:23 pm

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Adoptable Junnie! Junnie is a 2 1/2-year-old, Malinois mix who is looking for his forever home! Junnie is a happy and sweet boy and loves to play and be active! He will require a very active family that has experience with working breeds. He would make a great running/ hiking partner and LOVES to play fetch. He needs to be mentally and physically stimulated so he would also do great with agility, games and nose work. Junnie is still learning how to socialize with other dogs and can be reactive and mouthy, as Malinois are, with other dogs. He needs to be the only dog in the home but with training and support could be fine around other dogs out and about. He will require a home with a fenced yard, no apartments. Junnie is not tested with kids but since he still needs to catch up on training and can be jumpy, he would be best in a home with older kids or adults. No cats. Junnie is on the wait list to be neutered and will be neutered prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $400.

Juniper is a happy, friendly, adorable girl.  She is affectionate and playful!!  She loves to play ball!!  Juniper loves to hang out with you or play in the yard.  She is affectionate and loves to give kisses once she knows you.  Some people scare her, but once she knows you she is darling and playful.  She is so eager to please.  Juniper will need a home with a fenced yard.  Juniper found herself as a young pup in a shelter in California.  She was adopted and then found herself back at the shelter after she was hit by a car.  She then made her way to us as a 'greyhound mix'.  She is beyond darling and is so deserving of a true forever home.  She has a slight head tilt (adorable) and has some hip dysplasia which may need surgery (but that is not a given) as she ages, but now she is absolutely happy and playful.  We did a DNA test on Juniper and we were amazed to see that her mix is 45% German Shepherd, 42% American Staffordshire Terrier, 11% American Pit Bull Terrier and 2% Australian Cattle Dog.  We would never have guessed that she had any Terrier in her - she is a gentle, sweet soul and has a coat more like a Labrador or short coated Golden Retriever.  And while her 'greyhound' roots are not to be found, she is an adorable member of our GPI family and we can't wait to find this darling girl her forever home.  Juniper has made great progress in addressing the reactivity issues and she is expected to continue to make great strides with consistent training.  Juniper is a past Dog of the Month: https://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/juniper-march-dog-of-the-month-copy/ Sponsored by Kristy Spray Sponsored by Kathleen Meyers, in memory of Roxy.
