Story
Ursula here! I’m as excited to tell you about myself, as I am to meet you. I say that because whether it be a dog, cat, or human, I have never met a stranger. My foster home consists of canines, felines, and my favorite thing ever…kids! I live with two other dogs currently and my playstyle can be described as submissive. I love to romp around and play but I’m gentle when I get to wrestling. I love going on walks and I have worked hard to master my leash skills. I love riding in a car and I’m calm as a co-pilot. I also sleep quietly in my kennel each night and will wake you up with a smile each morning, This blue-eyed gal cannot wait to find her forever family….is that you?

Hi, my name is Chief. I’m looking for a special forever family. I LOVE being near ‘my people’. I warm up very quickly to my caregivers and I don’t want to leave your side. I am playful - I love toys, balls, chewing bones, and going on walks. I also like to cuddle and take naps. Did I mention how soft my fur is? I have been taking daily medicine for separation anxiety and it has helped a ton! I am getting better at being on my own when my parents go to work. I love meeting people of all ages and I am gentle on the leash. I’m looking for my forever family! Chief is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housetrained and neutered.  This pup's new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an Online Application today! This is Leia and she was part of a litter in Kentucky that then moved to Maine. She is now in the big city and is looking for a big yard to play in or atleast someone who can give the time and energy to get her energy out. Needs more training especially with going on walks and being around people. Is quite anxious outside in the city with all the noise. Loves treats, belly rubs, car rides, and getting brushed. She is 5 years old and is very energetic but quite anxious with all the city noise and people. She is a sweet and loyal dog.

Story
** Pippin is currently in a our shelter, and is available for foster or adoption! Email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org to set up a meet + greet! **Pippin is special needs, as he is deaf, partially blind, and has significant neurological issues. Pippin will need to be in a home with an experienced owner with no pets or children. He is a very special guy who needs a strict daily routine to keep from getting overstimulated. He loves walks, but likes to play tug-o-war and will require a chain or cable leash. He can interact with dogs smaller than him and cats, but dog the same size or larger are too intimidating and he does not like to share space with them. Pip will need to be a single gentleman, as his tendency to guard his resources would be challenging to have him around other animals in a long term environment. He just needs to have a special human who understands that Pippin can't communicate like every other dog and needs extra training to learn how! He is incredibly smart and loving, and just needs someone to give him a chance! He is in need of a loving forever home with a family experienced with special needs dogs!If you are interested in learning more about Pippin and his special needs and behaviors, please email our Shelter Manager at abby@chicagocaninerescue.org!** Submit your foster or adoption application at ChicagoCanineRescue.org! **

Story
**SCRAPPY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!** Scrappy is currently accepting applications for his forever home! Friendly, social, happy, and handsome, Scrappy is the total package! This guy was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in Kentucky. He is now in a foster home in the Chicago suburb of Wheeling while he patiently waits for his forever family. His breed and past are unknown, but we suspect he's a combination of several breeds, a true super mutt! Border Collie, Shepherd, Retriever are all possible ancestors in his lineage. His exact age is also a mystery but he is estimated to be around 2 years old. Scrappy is the kind of dog we think will fit in most households easily and will make a great companion for a family looking for a dog that is still active, playful, and fun-loving but one that is past the young puppy shenanigans. An added bonus to his stellar personality is his size; just under 50 pounds, he's a medium-sized pooch, ideal for urban dwellings. He's got great house manners as well. Quiet, housebroken, crate-trained, not destructive or anxious when alone, walks nicely on leash, friendly with other dogs. What more could you possibly want in a dog?! Scrappy loves toys, going for long walks, and cuddling with his humans. He'll be a phenomenal, loyal companion for an active household. Scrappy was recently neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), and microchipped. With his clean bill of health, he's ready for his next chapter: a forever home of his own! • Scrappy's adoption fee to the rescue is $375. He is in a foster home in Wheeling, IL, and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Scrappy's adoption fee is $375. This fee covers any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Hugh from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.

Story
Skye (female) and Sam (male). Take a peek at these blond beauties!!! They have the sweetest eyes and pretty pick piggy noses. These two are just a bundle of bouncing happiness. They are learning what it is like to be cuddled and think they like it so far. They just got into their foster home located in Memphis, Tennessee and were a little shy to begin with but that is getting less and less daily (practically hourly). They love to romp and play with each other and are very curious about the adult dogs in the home. These two are catching on to the good life fast and seem to be quick learners. Once adopted they will travel via Rescue Vet Transport to their new family. They travel each and every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. If you would like to make either one of these cuties part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Our turnaround time is typically less than 24 hours so please be prepared before you submit your application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Name: Beauford Age: 9.5 Breed: Cattle Dog/Shepherd Weight: 75 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes, with the occasional chase. Kid friendly: Likely Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Was treated for HW Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Medium Location: Beau is being fostered in Joliet, IL. No out of state applicants, please. I'm just a big boy who loves my stuffed lambey. Yes, that's right. I might look intimidating and am close relatives to bomb and police dogs, but not me! I am happiest when carrying around my stuffed babies. Oh, and I also like to show the water hose who's boss and attack the water when mom or dad are watering the plants. And I have another skill to tell you about - I can open some doors! It's a handy trick, but mom and dad aren't as impressed... I don't know why?  Overall, mom and dad say I'm a loveable, dopey boy. As mentioned above, I have a soft spot for plushy toys and like to carry them around to show them off. I also love chilling on the couch with my hoomans and dog siblings, roaming around the backyard, or going on neighborhood walks with our pack. My hoomans say my only annoying trait is that I'm pretty vocal - I'm usually pretty pumped in the morning and like to tell them so. I also like to roam around the backyard and bark at nothing at all except to let everyone know that I'm there. Super fun, right? That said, I'm an old man with a gentle soul. As long as my people accept me for who I am, and give me lots of love, we'll get along just fine.  Why I'm awesome and what kind of home I'd thrive in: I'm a gentle giant who's pretty happy-go-lucky and spry despite my age and what I've endured. I like being with my people, I'm somewhat a shadow, so I'd like a home where my family is home with me the majority of the time. I suffer from a severe case of "fomo" when I'm separated from my family or feel like I'm missing out on the action. I also am pretty used to the comfy couches and beds at my foster home and would like someone who doesn't mind me making myself at home on their furniture too. I'm medium-level energy; I'm spunky for my age, but am still recovering from heartworms so I have to make sure my activity is low to moderate. Also, I love my fur-siblings and spend time around/near them throughout each day. Anything else you want to know about me - just ask! If you're interested in meeting Beauford, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
