Story
Libby, a herder by breed, is a very sweet, good natured, highly energetic, and intelligent lady; vocal, and a little needy of attention, lol. She is crate trained, potty-trained, and knows many commands. We think she is approximately 3 years old, and got a clean bill of health last month. She is good with all farm animals except ducks and is good with older children, but noises of small children & squeaking noises distress her. My daughter adopted Libby from a farm near Oregon City about two years ago as a companion to her older dog. But life has changed a lot in the last year. Now the older dog has kidney failure and needs a lot of attention. My daughter lives in a second floor apartment, no nearby parks, and has three kids under six years old; the infant has severe health issues, and another babe on the way... Sadly, yet lovingly, it is time for Libby to meet more wonderful humans. This posting is at my daughter's request. Thank you for considering Libby, she's wonderful♥️

Story
Meet Oona, a four-year-old deaf Border Collie looking for a home that truly understands her. She knows many hand signals, reads human body language beautifully, and thrives on structure, routine, and mental stimulation. Oona is house trained and incredibly intuitive, but she isn’t a fan of crates and tends to pull on walks, so she’ll need someone patient and consistent who can keep working with her. She’s wonderful with kids of all ages and currently lives with a toddler. She would likely enjoy the company of another active and well matched dog who understands her energy. A secure yard and some experience with herding breeds or a willingness to learn will help her thrive. Oona loves running in open space and relaxing near her people after a full day. She isn’t the right fit for every home, but in the right one she’ll be a loyal and deeply rewarding companion.

What my friends at OHS say about me:I have been known to shower my favorite people with love.I'm a fiend for food! Snacks are a great way to make friends with me and teach me fun tricks.I can't wait to show my new family how playful I am!Mental enrichment activities are a great way to entertain me and work my brain.I am used to living an active lifestyle! I would love to get up and go adventure with you.I am still learning how to walk on leash, especially in new environments that can be overwhelming. I need verbal encouragement, patience and of course treats from you to help me!High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment. The type of home I'm looking for:I am not for the first time dog owner. Someone very familiar with canine body language is a must for me.Escape Artist: I have a history of escaping doors or fences. I will need supervision when outdoors or we can go on adventures together - on leash of course!I must go to a home with a fenced in yard.It could be with you! Story
Alder is an extremely sweet, quiet, shy boy. He is the dog version of an introvert. He is gentle and sticks to himself and is great with other dogs of all sizes and with cats. He doesn't engage much with them thought as he prefers to do his own thing. He has to be the most low maintenance and chill dog I've ever had in the rescue out of hundreds of dogs. He is hesitant with people he doesn't know but never aggressive. Not an ounce of aggression. He was listed as a pit bull mix at the shelter when he was smaller and still a younger puppy but now that he is an older puppy (about a year) it's obvious that he is not a pittie but looks more like a border collie. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95
