Story
BEST WAY TO INQUIRE, EMAIL CONTACT@BAMMRESCUEPDX.ORG Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. But outside the kennel, Montana’s true personality shines—sweet, playful, and full of love. Montana will thrive in a calm, patient home that gives her time to decompress and build trus ##2599337##

Story
Freckles across his nose, a little black “Batman mask,” happy tippy-taps when he’s excited, and a heart that clearly wants to belong… this is Holliday. Equal parts goofy charm and affectionate shadow, Holliday is the kind of dog who leans all the way into love. His biggest dream? A couch, a person, and permission to pretend he’s a lap dog. Want to see those adorable tippy taps and that little masked face in action? Head over to YouTube and then come right back to learn more about the boy who believes every good day should include affection, snacks, and a welcoming lap to climb into. https://youtu.be/lPFbycVn8XA Holliday is estimated to be about 2 years old and appears to be a Border Collie mix but given he is a rescue, breed and birthday cannot be guaranteed. From the moment you meet him, Holliday’s affectionate nature is easy to see. He absolutely lights up when people give him attention and has a charming little habit of doing “tippy taps” with his feet when he’s happy or excited. It’s the kind of happy motion that makes everyone around him smile whether they are meeting for the first time or its a familiar connection. And inside its only sweeter, he is affectionate and his aspirations for lap-dog life really shine. Holliday is more than happy to make the first move and will come in close to soak up the love and lean in for a new nestling nose kisses. He is still learning some of the everyday things that come with the cozy life as a family dog. For example, couches were a new concept to him. When invited up, he wasn’t quite sure how to get there at first and needed a little boost. Moments like that tell us he’s likely still discovering what a comfortable home life looks like. The good news is that he’s eager to connect with people, smart and very responsive to guidance, which makes him a wonderful boy to open your heart and home to. On leash, Holliday is enthusiastic and currently pulls a bit, especially when he sees other dogs he’d like to meet. Much of his life before rescue life was spent on a very short leash outdoors so the world is understandably very exciting to him right now. With a confident understanding handler he has been making great progress with continued leash training. He is also very responsive to direction, correction, and listens well when told “no.” With other dogs, Holliday shows friendly curiosity. When meeting dogs he likes to sniff hello and then wander off to explore the yard. Play is still a bit of a mystery to him, but with the right dog companion we have seen he learns quickly and is easily invited to play even if she doesn’t know the steps after that. When meeting new dogs he reads them well and respects boundaries and limits easily. We can see him being a wonderful fit for a home with medium-energy, similarly sized dogs. Holliday is also very food motivated, which is wonderful for training. He eats enthusiastically and takes treats gently. Because Holliday can be a little jumpy, which he is working on, when he’s excited to receive affection, we think he’ll do best in a home with older kids who won’t be knocked over by his enthusiastic greetings. His affection truly comes from a joyful place and is gentle, not rough or heavy footed. He just hasn’t quite learned yet that hugs don’t always have to involve all four feet leaving the ground, but some people do enjoy those big, warm dog hugs. A home with a yard would be ideal for Holliday while he continues building his leash skills, giving him space to stretch his legs and explore safely. With time, guidance, and a loving environment, we think this freckled little masked hero is going to blossom into a wonderful, lap-loving, whole-new-world companion and sidekick. If you’re looking for a dog who will greet you with tippy taps, shower you with affection, and happily grow alongside you as he learns what family life is all about, Holliday is your guy! Story
Birdie is a 6-year-old female Border-collie mix. She works hard to be the very best dog possible. She loves to be near her people, and she never misses an opportunity to bring over a toy and play fetch. She has been a wonderful dog for us as a couple, but now with our young child she no longer has an ideal home life. Birdie is extremely smart and wants to please. We envision Birdie living her best life in a home that allows her opportunities to be highly active and to use those amazing smarts, while the home is mostly calm and feels safe for her. She is highly trainable. She does well on walks/hikes/runs, tends to pull a bit but easily corrected with reminders. She is well trained in the house and follows commands. She is anxious and can be reactive with small grows towards dogs and children, with a history of fear-based reactivity and a strong prey drive. She cannot be in a home with children or with small or reactive/high energy dogs (best if she's the only dog). So LOVEABLE!

Story
Meet Mezzy, our sweet 5‑year‑old rescue from Todos Santos, Mexico. She’s fully house‑trained and crate‑trained, and has come a long way since joining our family. She thrives on attention and affection. She loves to nap in the sun and spend her days relaxing outdoors, so she’d do best in a home with plenty of space and a yard where she can roam, rest, and feel free. Mezzy has bursts of energy in the mornings and evenings and looks forward to her daily walks—her absolute favorite activity! She’s great with kids and friendly with people, though she sometimes gets excited when greeting. Mezzy does well with commands, especially when there is cheese involved! She deserves a devoted and attentive owner to give her the love she needs.

Story
Bonnie is a 6 year old Border Collie mix. She's a gentle soul with a mellow temperament. She loves to go for walks. She currently walks twice a day for a total of 2 to 3 hours everyday. She c an be dog friendly if introduced slowly to other dogs who are very dog friendly. Bonnie is always eager to make new friends, and her intelligence shines through in her quick learning of new tricks. Bonnie, like many dogs (and humans!) does not take too kindly to dogs off leash who run up to her, so that's something to be aware of and continue to work with her on.   Even though Bonnie is a Border Collie mix, she isn't  anxious or hyper. She is very calm (fireworks don't phase her), loyal and intelligent.  She doesn't bark often and never whines. She greets visitors nicely. She loves agility and learns obedience and tricks quickly.  She also gets bored quickly so likes new challenges and places to walk and explore.  Surprisingly, she is not very interested in herding or fetching a ball.  Bonnie is fine with cats and other calm dogs in the home and she is fully housetrained.    Food is a big focus for Bonnie. She will do almost anything for a treat, which helps with training. On walks she is very interested in food that is left on the sidewalk, in the grass, etc. Awareness on the part of her human is important. If you leave food where she can get it on the counter, she will take advantage of this.  Working with her on knowing she always has enough will be important.  Kongs and snuffle pads will help her with positive food focuses!  While on walks,  s he is eager to chase a squirrel while on lead, and the foster has been working on the "focus" technique while out walking with Bonnie to quell her enthusiasm for squirrels (and rabbits).   Bonnie comes with a training session with one of our contracted fear free trainers, to get you on the right track with her. She also has pretty great recall off leash at about 80 percent of the time, but as mentioned, a squirrel may take top priority right now!   This girl rides beautifully in the car and loves to go!  She has become very sweet at the groomers for nail trims, the vet's and her favorite pet store.  She is great about being groomed at home weekly.  She can be a little anxious about new enclosed places.  Lots of treats and patience help this. She attends choir practice every week and is an honorary member of the choir! She greets everyone and then lays down under the piano to enjoy the music.  Bonita's gentle demeanor makes her a great companion. She's also known for giving the best hugs, providing comfort and warmth in the most endearing way. Smart, sweet, and gentle, Bonnie is truly a gem. If you are interested in meeting Bonnie, fill out an application and we will be in touch. Our Protocol: Underdogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Adoption fee is $390. Bonita is being fostered in the Portland Metro Area.  You MUST have an Underdogs Rock Rescue application on file to request a meet with an Underdog. An online Underdogs Rock adoption application can only be accessed at  https://underdogsrock.org/adopt-a-dog  . You must be available to meet an Underdog in their foster's location and dogs are not held for applicants or shipped outside of the Portland metro area. Home checks are also part of the process and will be conducted virtually.
