I love adventuring with my POOCH friends. They’ve found out that I love water, other dogs, and food! I’m eager to work for my snacks and am SUPER excited to show off my skills. Surely you need something as sweet as me in your life! Georgia is a young, smart, energetic dog. She has been working with the youth here and learning all sorts of manners. She is good at politely waiting at doorways, learning better leash skills, and loves to show off her tricks. Georgia is the kind of dog who can make training look effortless. In playgroups Georgia is very adaptable to different play styles. She can play chase, romp, and wrestle, though she does love to play gladiators with fellow POOCH dog Viola. Georgia can greet over enthusiastically at times, so sometimes needs support to stay calm so she doesn’t overwhelm shy potential friends. However, her social skills make her an excellent intro for new dogs into the playgroups. During spring sunshine we pulled out the pools and Georgia had a BLAST running through them and playing with the water from the hose. We have no doubt that she would be a star on the trails, through creeks and streams. This girl is MADE for Oregon adventures, from the coast to the mountains, she would love to be your companion! Since Georgia lives in a kennel we cannot say for sure that she is potty-trained. But the way she uses her kennel does indicate that she understands the concept of going potty outside, and with some investment of time in a new home will grasp the concept pretty quickly.

Hi, this is Jack. He is 5 years old and has been such an amazing part of our lives. He is the perfect dog for someone who is really active, but he is also great for someone who is more mellow and just wants to hang out and cuddle. He truly enjoys both. Jack is very energetic, but he is also incredibly intelligent. He gets along well with many people and is definitely more of a people dog. He grew up with a cat and with small children, and he has been amazing with both. We are looking for someone who has the energy to keep up with him and give him the attention he truly craves. Due to health issues, we have not been able to fully meet his need for human attention, and he is really looking for a home where he can get that love, time, and connection. He would do best with someone who is ready to give him lots of cuddles and take him on short or long walks.

Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. From the moment you meet him, Holliday’s affectionate nature is easy to see. He absolutely lights up when people give him attention and has a charming little habit of doing “tippy taps” with his feet when he’s happy or excited. It’s the kind of happy motion that makes everyone around him smile whether they are meeting for the first time or its a familiar connection. And inside its only sweeter, he is affectionate and his aspirations for lap-dog life really shine. Holliday is more than happy to make the first move and will come in close to soak up the love and lean in for a new nestling nose kisses. He is still learning some of the everyday things that come with the cozy life as a family dog. For example, couches were a new concept to him. When invited up, he wasn’t quite sure how to get there at first and needed a little boost. Moments like that tell us he’s likely still discovering what a comfortable home life looks like. The good news is that he’s eager to connect with people, smart and very responsive to guidance, which makes him a wonderful boy to open your heart and home to. On leash, Holliday is enthusiastic and currently pulls a bit, especially when he sees other dogs he’d like to meet. Much of his life before rescue life was spent on a very short leash outdoors so the world is understandably very exciting to him right now. With a confident understanding handler he has been making great progress with continued leash training. He is also very responsive to direction, correction, and listens well when told “no.” With other dogs, Holliday shows friendly curiosity. When meeting dogs he likes to sniff hello and then wander off to explore the yard. Play is still a bit of a mystery to him, but with the right dog companion we have seen he learns quickly and is easily invited to play even if she doesn’t know the steps after that. When meeting new dogs he reads them well and respects boundaries and limits easily. We can see him being a wonderful fit for a home with medium-energy, similarly sized dogs. Holliday is also very food motivated, which is wonderful for training. He eats enthusiastically and takes treats gently. Because Holliday can be a little jumpy, which he is working on, when he’s excited to receive affection, we think he’ll do best in a home with older kids who won’t be knocked over by his enthusiastic greetings. His affection truly comes from a joyful place and is gentle, not rough or heavy footed. He just hasn’t quite learned yet that hugs don’t always have to involve all four feet leaving the ground, but some people do enjoy those big, warm dog hugs. A home with a yard would be ideal for Holliday while he continues building his leash skills, giving him space to stretch his legs and explore safely. With time, guidance, and a loving environment, we think this freckled little masked hero is going to blossom into a wonderful, lap-loving, whole-new-world companion and sidekick. This cutie is Brandy. She is currently 4 months old and weighs approximately 19lbs. We think they may be a border collie/ Australian shepherd mix, but with rescue it’s a guess! What matters most is that they are adorable and are one the MOST desperate in the entire US based on statistics for where this puppy is from. Shelters in this area are having to euthanize puppies.
