She’s a confident little tripod—missing one front leg due to a birth defect—but don’t let that fool you: Pixel doesn’t know she’s any different, and it doesn’t slow her down one bit. Playful and energetic, she loves toys with motion, catnip pillows, and a good game of chase around the house, especially in the mornings. She’s also quite vocal, happily announcing her playtime and excitement with cheerful commentary. This sweet girl adores people and warms up quickly to new friends. The moment you sit down, Pixel is likely to hop right into your lap, purring contentedly while you give her favorite face, cheek, and ear scratches. While she prefers not to be picked up and isn’t a fan of having her paws touched, she more than makes up for it with her affection and lap-loving nature. FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60640 ESTIMATED DOB: July 2020 COLOR/BREED: Black and White Tuxedo Shorthair KIDS: Unknown DOGS: Unknown CATS: No HISTORY: Mac was previously adopted through Lulu’s Locker and was returned when her owner’s health changed and they could no longer care for her. ABOUT: Mac’s foster home describes her as: Curious, Amusing, Sassy, Playful, and Quiet. Mac is a great mix of affectionate and independent. For her affectionate side - Mac loves to be pet, doesn’t mind being picked up, prepares excellent biscuits, and snuggles up next to her foster at bed time. On her independent side - When her foster is busy Mac is happy to entertain herself by playing with her toys, taking naps, or looking out the window for birds and squirrels or neighbors to judge. Mac did not get the memo that every horror film involves someone checking out a “weird noise” - Mac is going to be running full speed to check out that “weird noise.” She’s clearly part of the new generations as she is very curious when her foster watches cat videos, and enjoys playing tablet “cat games.” Mac will be great for someone looking for an active, outgoing cat to keep them on their toes. Mac was previously adopted with another cat. When they were returned we quickly realized that it was a loveless relationship and separated them. We also determined that Mac would prefer to be the center of attention as an only cat. Mac is a great choice for someone who knows they only want one cat. You’ll never need to be tempted to get her a friend. She doesn’t want any friends (besides you and your family, of course!) We do not know how Mac is with dogs or kids Mac will possibly do fine with older children who can understand that she has preferences and won’t insist on dressing her up or making her attend tea parties. When it comes to eating, Mac could go toe-to-toe with some of the best competitive eaters. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it type of event. She prefers to eat only dry food, so her foster portions it out into smaller meals and offers it to her in a slow feeder to keep her from inhaling it. Think Mac is a perfect match for you? ABOUT: Ways to King Louie’s heart: Food, Play, Pets. That’s it. He’s a simple guy. Although King Louie is around 12 years old, he is still quite energetic - despite his round physique. His favorite saying is “round is a shape” if people ask him if he is in shape. He loves to hide in his tunnel toy and pop out to grab you. (If he asks, you never saw it coming!) He also enjoys chasing wand toys. King Louie doesn’t love being picked up, but he does thoroughly enjoy pets and attention. King Louie is front-paw declawed, but he still likes to “scratch” the scratching post. King Louie will never be late for dinner. His favorite food is the one he is eating when you ask. He will do best in a home that can portion his meals out throughout the day or else he might try to convince you he is staaarrrvvviinnggg. King Louie needs to be adopted with his buddy Baloo. They’ve been through a lot together. Their personalities complement each other and they really enjoy being together. King Louie has appointed himself Baloo’s protector. If he feels that Baloo is threatened he will waddle over and confront the threat…he is declawed, so we aren’t sure what he thinks he’s going to do - but he’s-a-coming. (Baloo’s protection strategy is to roll over and play dead.) King Louie isn’t being fostered with any children. His foster home thinks he would do well in homes with kids 9+ as he will gently bite when overstimulated. King Louie feels threatened/stressed by the other cats in his foster home so he will do best living only with his bestie Baloo. King Louie has met the resident dog and doesn’t seem very concerned about him - just keeps his distance. He might do ok in a home with a calm dog who will mostly ignore him. King Louie has gone through a lot of changes as a senior - from a home - to a shelter - to a foster home. King Louie was having some accidents, but after starting an anti-anxiety medication he hasn’t had any accidents and seems much happier. He happily takes his medicine hidden inside a bit of his wet food. FOSTERED IN: Bolingbrook, IL 60440 ESTIMATED DOB: 2011 COLOR/BREED: Gray and White Shorthair KIDS: Older DOGS: Possible CATS: No HISTORY: Baloo was surrendered with his buddy King Louie to the animal control facility they were originally adopted from years ago. ABOUT: Baloo is a sweet, gentle, happy, somewhat shy boy. He isn’t too hard to win over - if you know his weaknesses. His foster said he if he given a hiding place he will use it forever - so if you want to win him over you’ve got to remove his hiding spaces and offer up his two favorite things: brushing, and firm pets. Baloo will let you brush him until your wrists don’t work. Oddly, for a shy cat, Baloo loves firm pets. Like deep-tissue-massage firm. Baloo loves to get his hair done - and will let you brush him until your wrists don’t work any longer. Baloo can be a little timid in new situations, but oddly, he likes firm pets. Baloo’s fosters have learned his weaknesses and he comes running to them when they enter his room, but this was after he hid under the bed for 6 weeks upon arrival. They disassembled the bed frame to force him out of hiding - and it worked! When his fosters enter his room Baloo runs right up to them to ask for pets and attention. Baloo is around 14 years old and is pretty low energy, but he still has a round or two of wand-toy chasing in him. Baloo is front-paw declawed, and is an excellent biscuit maker. Baloo needs to be adopted with his best buddy King Louie. They’ve been through a lot together: Shelter, adoption, shelter, foster home. Their personalities complement each other and they really enjoy being together. King Louie has appointed himself Baloo’s protector as Baloo thinks that “playing dead” is an effective self-protection strategy. Baloo isn’t being fostered with any children. His foster home thinks he would do fine in homes with children, as long as they understand he might be a little more shy/scared at times. King Louie and Baloo need to be adopted as only-cats because Baloo waives the white flag the minute he sees another cat and King Louie thinks he needs to come to his rescue. Baloo has met the resident dog and isn’t very concerned so he might do ok in a home with a calm dog who will mostly ignore him.
