Story
Jaco was found by a very good samaritan with his little friend, Coco. These two puppies are super small and were left to defend themselves on the mean streets of a California town. They are great with cats, kids, other dogs and people. Very affectionate. We just stepped in to help the finder and are currently taking care of vetting and spay/neuter. Please check out our program at www.reunionrescue.com - we do all foster to adopt and have an excellent nutrition and holistic program. All of our dogs come with a 100% lifetime guarantee so no animal we save ever goes to a shelter. Get in touch today to meet Jaco Pastorius!

Story
Meet Benny. If you are looking for that buddy who enjoys walks and also chills with you on the sofa then sweet Benny might be your match. Rescued as a stray it is understandable he may be shy when meeting you for the first time. But you can see in his big brown eyes that he wants to overcome his fear and be your friend. Once he knows he is safe, he becomes a love bug who wants your affection and gives you gentle kisses. He is potty trained, doesn't have separation anxiety and walks well on the leash. He is very interested in meeting other dogs but is not a fan of overly exuberant dogs especially if they are bigger then him. He got along well with his foster sibling who was another small breed. He has moderate and calm energy but is also playful. He loves playing and chasing his toys and especially loves getting the squeak out of squeaky toys. He has a loving, gentle and quiet demeanor. He doesn't bark much and may do it when a dog passes by the house or if there is a loud moving vehicle like skateboards or motorcycles. If you are interested in meeting his sweet guy then fill out an application today!

Story
Little Perry MinPin is made of sugar and spice and everything nice! He is just over a year old and just over 11 pounds. Perry loves to play with other small dogs after an appropriate introduction, but is also quite good at entertaining himself. He is very athletic; he can jump in the back of the car without a running start and with easily a foot clearance. His foster mom has seen him toss a forward pass and catch it himself before it hits the ground. Perry likes to grumble when disturbed when he is comfortable, and can even make quite scary faces, but it is all in fun and he has perfect bite inhibition. Perry is housetrained and knows how to use a dog door. He has learned to walk on leash, but is not comfortable yet meeting new dogs or people while out. He can walk along with a person and another dog after an introduction. He is not an off-leash dog at this time and prefers to walk where other dogs are also on leash. He probably was an only dog before coming to foster care, but is doing great with his canine foster siblings and loves to play with them, so a playful dog in his forever home would be great. Children in his home should be teenagers. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Perry is $300. If you are interested in adopting Perry, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. May 10, 2024, 7:10 pm

Story
Nugget was my aunt’s dog who recently passed away. However, he doesn’t get along with our older pooch and I want to find him a loving home that with shower him with kisses and cuddles. He’s a huge cuddle bug and is happy to just nap while you work either on your lap or on his bed. He knows a few tricks like sit, shake, touch, and my personal favorite high-five! He’s a foodie and loves everything you feed him, so don’t leave food at a level he can reach! He’s sassy and has a lot to say, I love having conversations with him. The adoption fee is to make sure you’re serious but also to offset the cost of his personal items that I’ll be giving his new owners. I have his recent vet record and am more than happy to answer any questions you may have :)

Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereThis Dog is Available By Appointment Only Sabina is a hidden gem. She's very sweet, loyal, cuddly, on the quiet side, walks great on leash, and is potty trained. She doesn't mind other dogs but prefers to keep to herself and is more of an introvert than a social butterfly. Given her mellow attitude, she may not mind cats, but she has not been exposed to them. She gets nervous in new environments and spooked by loud and unexpected noises, so a home with older children would be best to ensure she's her best self. She's very mellow and spends most of her day relaxing in her bed or cuddling with you on the couch. She's also an excellent overnight guest; she sleeps through the night and rarely moves from her spot. She's not a huge barker; we've only seen her bark when my resident chihuahua starts it, and she joins in. She's great for someone looking for a smaller dog without the giant attitude. We have not been crate-training her, given that she is not destructive when we are gone, although she is used to being in her playpen and can be left in there overnight or while you're out. She prefers to be next to you rather than tucked away. We are working on separation anxiety and possessiveness; she growls when we are petting or cuddling with her, and other dogs get close. She also cries when no humans are in the room, but this has been happening less and less as she gets used to us. We are working on these with her, and she seems to respond well to consistent training, treats, pets, and verbal rewards. Sabina is a flight risk and will run off if she is spooked, so whoever adopts her should do on-leash walks only with her for as long as needed as she gets used to her new environment. Sabina has bloomed so much in her time with us; she went from terrified and distant to sweet and cuddly. She is a prime example of what a little love and a feeling of safety can do. She would be ideal in a home that wants a close companion and can give her a consistent routine in a calm environment. We hope that she goes to someone who is patient and willing to earn her trust. Ideally, someone whose love language is cuddles and affection. Sabina will be sure to return that love a hundredfold. Follow her foster adventures @adopt_sabina on Instagram! Story
Archibald is an intellectual. He is handsome, loves to wear scarves and readers, and prefers a night in by the fireplace over a night out on the town. He loves to love and wears his heart on his sleeve. He is the kind of dog that leans in for pets and stares into your eyes lovingly. While we can't be quite sure if he is a true Xolo hairless breed or not, we do know he looks great with his mostly hairless coat and fluffy face and feet. Archibald is luxury and deserves nothing but! Here's some notes from his foster: Meet Archibald! A 40 lb perfect medium size 7 year old pup! Unclear if he is part XOLO or just missing some furs, but either way he's as cute and sweet as can be. Archie is very gentle and loyal, he loves all people and all dogs. We take him to the park to socialize and he does well but may sometimes be. Little nervous near XXXL sized dogs. Archie walks great on a leash with a good pace and enjoys exploring, but more than that he loves coming home settling in for a nap and getting pets and scritches. We also found that archie loves to play with toys specifically balls and can keep himself occupied with a ball for hours (as long as it doesn't get stuck under the couch hehe). He eats all his meals with delight and is very gentle when taking treats. He is potty trained has had 0 accidents in our house. He comes when he is called and responds to "let's go and showing him the leash. He also responds to whistles and claps. He loves to wag his tail and show his happiness and love once he's all settled in. Currently he sleeps in his own dog bed on the floor though he would rather sleep on the human bed with me. He is able to go up and down stairs easily and jump on the couch. He doesn't enjoy getting picked up (as he cowers his body to the ground) however he allowed me to do it gently and slowly when I put him in the bathtub for a bath (which he tolerates well). Archie is also very good in the car and not nervous. My favorite thing about his is when he wants some livin' he will look you right in the eyes with his beautiful brown eyes and you can really feel the connection and all the love he has to give. He truly is a good boy and is looking for a family to love him back.
