My name is Flintstone, and I am the sweetest! My foster family calls me a "Velcro dog" as I love being near my humans. I do enjoy my naps and once in a while, I'll just kind of hang out in my crate, but most of the time I like to be around people. I am very active and I would say my energy level is about an eight out of 1-10. I'm not destructive, but I am working on my house training. Each day I'm getting a little better and my foster mom is helping me with this. I am more of a marker than a dog who can't hold his bladder so once I am neutered (appointment is Dec 1st!), this should improve. (Me and foster mom have done our research.)Right now I live with another dog and I am learning his boundaries. He gave me a warning nip the other day and I didn't fight back so I'm really not a fighter. And we enjoy each other's company. I also live with two cats that I'm nice to, but once in a while, I just can't help myself, I have to chase them. Luckily I just chase & have never hurt them. Oh! And the one Chihuahua trait I don't seem to have is barking very much. I only get vocal when my people leave the house or if they go downstairs when we're home together.I could keep going, but it's better to talk face-to-face. Hi Everyone! My name is Gurnee and I am an adult, short-hair chihuahua mix. I am good with other dogs, but have yet to be tested with cats and children. I am still learning how to be completely housebroken, as I came from a hoarding situation, and it really didn't matter when or where I did my business. My foster mom says that I am already 70% there and I will use the pee pads when I can. I am crate trained as well. I can definitely be left alone if need be, and so far my limit has been 6 hours. I have a favorite small squeaking elephant and pig toy that will keep me company. I love car rides so my foster mom takes me with her when she can. I am not too good walking on a leash because that is a brand-new concept to me. Again, with time, I think I could get better. Believe it or not, I love to play fetch! My energy level is at the medium level and although a fenced in yard is not required, I would love to run free in the back yard! I'm working on some basic commands. I do know what biscuit or treat means (lucky for me)! I love giving kisses and sleeping in my foster mom's bed at night. Meet Patches Patches is a cute, tan and white Chihuahua Mix, estimated to be about 2 years old, weighing 15 lbs. She is very cute, and good with most other dogs but sometimes is selective about her friends; she was confiscated along with several other dogs, ended up in a downstate animal control, and finally found her way to BAARK. Patches is well behaved, affectionate , an overall nice girl. However she has many traits typical of a Chihuahua….can be dog selective, can be bossy with other dogs, and will not back down if another dog challenges her. So, if there is another dog(s) in the household, he or she should be mellow and laid-back. While affectionate, Patches is not fond of cuddling. She’s an independent spirit and prefers to do her own thing. She will surely make a great companion for adults familiar with the breed and able to appreciate the Chihuahua personality.
