He loves playing with squeaky toys, wrestling with his siblings, and testing all the dog beds. He comes running when called and is very excited to see his people. He can be shy when meeting new people but once you’re in, he is your devoted buddy. He is ready for a forever home that will give him the time and training that all young puppies need to continue to build confidence and social skills. Kai’s mom came to his Maryland foster home from Texas when she was pregnant. The little family remained in their foster home as part of the family while mom did an excellent job raising her puppies. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Do not bother with the instructions of sending an inquiry that petfinder tells you to do. The adoption fee is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Calling, emailing or "inquiring" is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Meet Lily, an 11 pound Chihuahua mixed 5 year old. She is a chill well behaved and loving companion, is fully housebroken, friendly, loves her walks and is a delight to have around. She can get along with dogs, but they will initially make her very nervous and she will need a slow introduction. Lily arrived from Texas and sadly tested positive for heartworm disease. Luckily it was caught in time to treat and Lily is expected to have a wonderful long life after treatment. Lily's foster is leaving for an extended vacation the third week of November. Lily will need a new foster home to finish up her treatment (we are happy to discuss this in full and of course we are covering the cost). Lily wll need to come to our vet in Ellicott City, Md to finish it up so you must be within an hour of Ellicott City and willing to bring her for treatment. Please can someone help? Adoption Fee is $450. All of our dogs will be microchipped. We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check or cash is preferred payment.

Reef (watch my video)'s Story Reef is a friendly 2 month old, currently weighing in at 4 pounds. He loves playing with toys, rolling over for belly rubs and snuggling. He was dubbed “the greeter” at 4 weeks old and continues to be the first to run and greet people. I’m a 9-year-old deer-head Chihuahua with a big heart and a gentle spirit. My family first adopted me from a shelter when I was 2 years old. Not much is known about my early puppy days, but for the past 7-plus years, I’ve lived a happy life surrounded by love from my mom, dad, and my two favorite girls — one a teenager and one a little preschooler who always keeps things fun! I’m a sweet, affectionate pup who adores cuddles, hugs, and long belly rubs. My favorite pastime is sunbathing by the window — nothing beats a good nap in a warm sunbeam! I’m loyal, calm, and love being near my people. Like many small dogs, I can get a little nervous about certain things — thunder, the vacuum, or visits to the vet can be a bit scary for me. But with gentle reassurance and love, I settle right back into my happy, snuggly self. I’ve had a wonderful life so far, and now I’m lovingly awaiting my new forever home — one where I can share my sunshine, cuddles, and heart all over again. 💛
