June is a love bug. She will be happiest cuddled up next to you. She doesn't bark, but she can be anxious. June is 10 years old. She love walks, but will want to be carried if she has to walk anything that could be a "hike". If they're any dogs in your home she would be better around smaller dogs. She gets anxious around big dogs. In March I had given birth to our daughter, and while we have tried for the past eight months to acclimate June to the baby, she has been having a very hard time adjusting. She is not aggressive to our baby, she is just obviously depressed, and will ignore us if we are doing anything involving the baby. We believe June will be happiest in a home that does not have any younger children. We want what is best for June, and that means going to a home that can give her the attention she needs. We will give you all of her toys, blankets, leash, collar, harness, and anything else that is hers to make this transition easier for her.

Might our little warrior girl, Beya! Beya was attacked by another dog and sustained a bad injury to her eye. She was rushed to the vet to attend to her injury and the moment she arrived, she went into labor and had 6 little puppies. As if that wasn't enough, the vet determined her eye was so badly damaged it needed to be removed. Beya has been a good Mom to her babies even as she was recovering from her eye surgery. Her babies have been weaned and now Beya is ready to find her forever family with whom she will be safe and loved. Beya is about 5 years old and 18 pounds. Please help our sweet Beya find the loving home she deserves. ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. Meet Mocha. Mocha's owner surrendered him when she moved and could not take him with her. He originally came to us with his "brother" and have been in foster care, living with several other small dogs. Mocha has thrived in his foster home and has made friends with the other dogs. He loves to run around in the yard and explore with the others. He is happy, outgoing and social as well. Mocha would do best in a home with at least one other small dog in the home to keep him company. He is about 5-6 years old and 13 pounds. Please help Mocha find the loving home he deserves. Meet Fudge. Fudge's owner moved and could not take him with her. He originally came to us with his "brother" and have been in foster care, living with several other small dogs. While we were told the brothers are bonded, his foster believes that was not necessarily true as they do not always stay together or look for each other and each have made friends with the other dogs in the foster home. They have become more outgoing and social as well. So the decision was made for Fudge to find his own forever home as long as there is at least 1 other small dog in the home to keep him company. He is a very friendly boy who is about 5-6 years old and 16 pounds. Please help Fudge find the loving home he deserves. We do NOT ship our animals. Whether you are a doxie lover, a Chihuahua lover, or both, you will fall in love with Umbrella ☂️ 😍 Chiweenie is our best guess, and she’s the best of both breeds. Smart, quiet, gentle, loyal, dog-friendly- big soulful brown eyes and bigger ears. We think she’s about 7-8 years old, though she may be a little younger even and just prematurely grey. She’s a little timid at first but bonds quickly and once she does, the sun rises and sets with you. Be prepared to be greeted with adoring gazes into your eyes and a wagging tail every time you walk into the room. Umbrella is looking for a lower key home where she can settle in and feel safe, and is just looking for someone to be her very best friend. The volume of discarded seniors entering NJ’s shelter system is sad and alarming. Pippy is one of our newest arrival. She was curled up in a sad scared cranky ball in the back of her kennel at our local Animal Control facility surrounded by large barking dogs. She’s severely overweight at 18lbs when she should be more like 12, and she gets out of breath easily with even short walks. She was blind in one eye which was painful and uncomfortable due to severe untreated, chronic dry eye as well as glaucoma, so we made the decision with our vet that removal would be the best option to help her feel better. She’s healing nicely and warming up, she’s a chihuahua so can be snarky with strangers and doesn’t like to be bothered when she’s comfy in her bed, but getting a bit happier each day. And she only has bottom teeth remaining after her dental so isn’t particularly scary. Getting gummed to death by an obese one-eyed pirate 🏴‍☠️ Chihuahua isn’t much of a threat. She’s fine with other mellow little dogs and definitely knows her own chihuahua kind, a funny but lovable little personality if you understand chi culture and customs. She’s at least 10 years old and overall in pretty good health now that her untreated eye and dental situation have been taken care of and she’s already lost 2lbs on her diet! Pippy is just the latest in a long line of local seniors we have taken in suffering from chronic painful medical issues that need immediate medical attention to give them a better quality of life.
