Milo is a beautiful 42 lb border collie mix. Typical for a herding type dog, Milo has a lot of energy and is very intelligent. His foster family describes him as very sweet, goofy, active, and energetic. Milo loves to play games of all kinds, and especially loves playing fetch. Milo is crate trained, house trained, and walks well on leash. He is friendly with other dogs. He has not been cat tested. With his foster family, Milo does well with 2-4 hours of exercise daily. Typical for his breed type, Milo has shown some herding behaviors and can sometimes be protective of his space, his people, and his things. For these reasons, Milo would do best in a home without small children. Milo needs a family that can provide him with plenty of daily mental and physical stimulation. Herding breed experience or experience with other high drive dogs is strongly encouraged.

Wendell can be a little reserved when meeting new people, so he’s looking for a quieter home where he can take his time getting comfortable and build a relationship at his own pace. Meet Amelia! Amelia is a 19-pound 'mini' Heeler mix with a big personality packed into a small body. She is very smart, very sweet, and very much a little shadow—once she decides you’re her person, she wants to be right by your side. She is the classic velcro dog that cattle dogs are notorious for. She’s affectionate, cuddly, playful, curious and food-motivated, with just enough mischief to keep things interesting. She’ll happily spend the day at your feet or in your lap, and she has even mastered standing on her hind legs. She’s also surprisingly gentle and has been sweet with a young child. But Amelia is not a plug-and-play dog. She is cautious with new people and needs time to build confidence. She is still learning how to walk nicely on a leash and currently tends to zigzag underfoot. She jumps up, tries to counter-surf (not tall enough) and needs continued basic obedience, socialization and structure. She’s also a tiny Houdini who figured out how to open her crate, so a secure setup is a must. She would also strongly prefer to sleep in your bed at night. Amelia bonds quickly and can struggle when left alone, so she’d do best with someone who works from home, is around frequently, or has another compatible dog. She has not been tested with cats. She can also be a little protective of her person, so introductions to dogs that don't live in the home should be thoughtful. In return for the time and patience you put into her, you’ll get an incredibly devoted little dog who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved and connected to her person. Amelia would thrive with an active, experienced adopter who understands smart working breeds and is excited to keep training. She is not looking for a hands-off home—she’s looking for her person.
